Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

The atmosphere of Prague is incredible and the level design is some of the best in the genre. I loved the "stealth or combat" freedom, but the story felt like it just ended right when it was getting started. It’s a great game, but you definitely feel like a chunk of the narrative was left on the cutting room floor. Игра не плохая и не хорошая, она средняя, наверно 10 лет назад она смотрелась отлично, но на данный момент все выглядит сильно устаревшим, с 90% скидкой взять можно, но не дороже, я долго думал, дать игре лайк или не давать, но все таки отзыв будет положительный.

Got this not long after it came out, in a bundle. My computer wasn't great, the game ran terribly and then crashed reliably during the tutorial. I now have a computer that's three or four times stronger, It runs great on Ultra settings and *still* crashes reliably. So I'm closing the book on this.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is a solid cyberpunk game that follows up on Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The game goes even deeper into the conflict between augmented people and those who are not, and honestly, these themes feel more relevant now than ever. The whole idea behind the Deus Ex series is timeless. It deals with stuff like inequality, fear of the unknown, and how far people will go to keep control. You can easily see parallels to our own world, just set a few decades into the future. The level design is great and stays true to what makes Deus Ex iconic. Prague looks awesome, and I really liked the setting since I am from the Czech Republic. It was nice to see all those little references to my home country. The atmosphere is dense and immersive, and the city feels alive, especially during the curfew section. But at the same time, compared to the variety of locations in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Prague feels a bit small and less exciting to explore. Adam also got some new augmentations, which is a nice addition. They give you more options in how you approach situations, whether you want to go in stealthy or loud. The gameplay remains the strongest part of the experience. The side quests are particularly well done and often more engaging than the main story itself. The story starts off strong and keeps you hooked at first. But then there is this moment where it just falls apart. It feels like the developers ran out of time and tried to wrap everything up as quickly as possible. That is a huge letdown. The final boss is weak and does not feel like a proper conclusion either. It leaves you with more questions than answers. The game also suffers from being clearly set up for a sequel that never came, which makes the unfinished feeling even worse. On top of that, the microtransactions feel out of place in a single-player game and are just annoying. They do not ruin the experience, but they are an unnecessary distraction. TLDR; Mankind Divided is a good game, but compared to Human Revolution, it is a letdown. The story feels unfinished, the boss is forgettable, and the microtransactions are annoying. Still worth playing if you like the series, but do not expect the same magic. Acabei de zerar Deus Ex: Mankind Divided e o jogo envelheceu muito bem. A estética futurista dele não é exagerada nem fantasiosa demais, parece um futuro realmente possível — o que deixa tudo mais interessante. A história é muito boa e cheia de críticas sobre política, governos, manipulação social e corporações controlando tudo. O Adam Jensen também é um protagonista muito frio, principalmente se você escolher as falas certas. O cara resolve situação no diálogo igual ameaça corporativa em forma humana. O jogo recompensa inteligência e estratégia, não só sair atirando. Recomendo para quem gosta de cyberpunk, conspiração e uma narrativa mais madura. E sim… essa franquia merece continuar. Porque o mundo real já está começando a ficar parecido demais com o jogo.

The art style and visuals are amazing, gotta be one of the best and is the best in the series. The Gunplay is vastly improved from HR and original but I have issues with the game. For the narrative, the side quests are more interesting as they are tied in with the main plot along with providing more worldbuilding but the main plot itself isn't very focused. A lot of the characters are also a lot less interesting and the more interesting ones don't appear much in the game unfortunately. The narrative is a mixed bag. This racism is bad allegory needs to go. Really good gameplay, possibly my favourite in terms of the deus ex series but the story has to go to the original.

Get the GOG version instead. This one has one of the earliest Denuvo implementations and stutters all of the time because of it. Otherwise, it's basically Human Revolution with worse story and level design from what I remember.

Mankind Divided is a good game but it has the unfortunate job of following Human Revolution. The gameplay is actually better in a lot of ways. Stealth is smoother, level design is more detailed, and Prague is an absolute joy to explore if you like sneaking through vents, hacking computers, and finding alternate paths. I spent way too much time creeping around apartments and restricted areas just to see what secrets I could uncover, what shortcuts I could unlock. MD still gives you a lot of freedom in how you tackle the missions; there are a lot of new augmentation options; the cyberpunk atmosphere is still on point; and the side missions are still interesting and worth doing. But my biggest problem is the story that ends abruptly and feels unfinished/rushed. Also, the scope is much smaller than that of HR; there are fewer memorable moments, some plot threads never get a satisfying payoff, the pacing feels off, and it seems that MD is more interested in teasing a possible 3rd title than having a great self-contained story like its predecessor. If you enjoyed Human Revolution, I'd say this is still worth playing, especially on a good discount. Just keep your expectations in check. The gameplay is stronger, but the story never reaches the same highs, and it feels like it stops just when things are getting interesting.
