A precise momentum-based platformer that emphasizes exploration and navigation puzzles. Run and jump your way through a wide variety of obstacles and challenges as you explore an abandoned derelict freighter. Be careful: getting in is often easier than getting out!

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.29/day in the week to Aug 25 → 0.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Poor planning has put you in a tough situation: your spacecraft is nearly out of power and an abandoned derelict freighter is your only chance for survival. Can you overcome the tricky obstacles that await you and collect enough power to make it out alive?

I am obsessed with platformers and the minute details of how they control and I wanted to create a game that features the things I love most in the genre:
a focus on exploration in a large non-linear world
simple and intuitive controls that are hard to master
movement that highlights both momentum and pixel precision
I spent countless hours hand-crafting challenges and tweaking the physics for this game until they felt perfect to me, and I hope you enjoy what I've created.
– ❤️ gate
Over 500 screens to navigate and explore in a large contiguous world
Learn mechanics and controls through intuitive gameplay -- no explicit tutorials or unnecessary hand-holding
No permanent upgrades: objectives can be tackled in any order, gated only by your improving skill as a player
Tons of optional secrets and collectables. Retrieving them all will be a challenge, even for platforming experts
In-game hint menu and assist options for players that want more help or guidance

Amazing game. It's everything I want in a platformer and more. Very strong sense of exploration and discovery, and the platforming challenges are consistently inventive. Beating the game is really not that hard, but there's tons of hard optional stuff for the people who want it.
Great platformer! Overall level design is great and very few of the main story items require a lot of precision. You can spend a lot of time thinking about what you are going to do, rather than dying 100 times trying to do it. Although there are plenty of hard collectibles if you like big challenges too. Also there's lots of checkpoints, so it's game where it's really easy to put it down and pick it back up for short or long play sessions. Music is just OK (mostly in that many areas are silent). There's some issues with the abrupt screen transitions in some areas. A very few gimmicks are just unfun (no-real-checkpoint zone for one). Overall very glad I bought the game! I came here to buy it from play "Control the Body" on itch.io because I was so impressed with the dev's level design.

I did not expect to play Derelict Star for 40 (offline) hours, but I should have. It's not the first time gate has made a seemingly simple game that's fully one of the best of it's kind. A similar thing happened when I played Give Up the Ghost: A Puzzle Checklist (please bring this to Steam). Anyway, I knew I was going to write this review when I got stuck on a sequence for a few hours and I said to my friend next to me "I should probably give up, but I'm still having fun trying." Just moving the character around is fun, regardless of progress. Without caveat, it's enjoyable to be at these controls. it's brilliant.
This is a ragebait platformer that expects perfect precision skill. If perfectionism is fun for you, enjoy. I am just going to uninstall and forget this ♥♥♥♥ exists.
Admittedly I got annoyed with some sections, but overall this game was a nice vibe for a precision platformer. Most of the time it felt like you were solving a puzzle with your own controls in order to navigate areas, and I found that pretty interesting instead of focusing purely on difficulty.
Also the narrator is so real.
A platformer with precise controls which lead to a meaty challenge, just long enough to not feel too short and enough content to be as long as I want it to be, and crafted with a lot of love for the genre. A perfect little indie game, well worth the playthrough.
this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up oh my god
I've never laughed so hard at my own misery
Easily in the top 5 for 2026. A brutal challenge at times, but one that feels so incredibly rewarding when you finally push through it. Who knew there was so much to learn about jumping? Exploring the lonely space station is, on its own, a treat with its cute-and-minimal PICO-8 graphics and chipper yet lonely music. The soundtrack reminds me of Minecraft (huge compliment). If Steam achievements are anything to go by, most players don't make it to the end, but if you click with this, getting all the way will leave you glowing for days.
high amount of soul, strong personality! great game
