About

Transform the alien landscape into a thriving industrial colony. Harvest resources, design intricate production lines, and optimize efficiency in a fully destructible world. Every factory, every pipeline, and every outpost you create adapts to your choices…and your challenges.
Yes, there will be conveyor belts. Lots and lots of conveyor belts.

Every decision shapes the future of your colony, testing your leadership in the harsh realities of a new frontier. And don’t forget to always provide enough food, shelter, and medicine in the meantime to accommodate the steady influx of new settlers. Can you balance the needs of your settlers with the needs of a growing factory?

Hostile environments demand resilience. Defend your colony against relentless environmental threats and mysterious alien forces while balancing the needs of your settlers. Strategic planning and adaptability are key to ensuring survival.

The concept is really cool, and has a lot of potential. However, this game needs lots of work still. It crashes constantly, AI gets stuck in "panic" and become useless, and there's generally some small bug around every corner. Buy if you want to wait, or support the maker. However, it's not quite a game yet. It's not unplayable but, needs lots of work, so don't be surprised when you get near the end of the production chain, and your game no longer loads, freezes. crashes, etc. Really cool concept, though!! I hope they polish it up.
Not yet, this game has some issues with pathfinding, storage overflow, trades, combat, highly in efficient belt system only using one side of them while they are comically huge. I'd wait...
Too buggy for now. The game very poorly handles full storage, and when my workers ends up being stuck in doing nothing. I will ask refund but may buy it later again if it's fixed.
after a year in early access - and after ~ 5 months of owning this, nothing is happening... Devs tease another update coming soon, no date, no other news, they aren't doing much with the game, even concerning advertising at all, give this one a miss... cool concept, feels like a scam game.. .wish i could refund... don't bother YET - if ever! **also the 'only' guide on steam is korean or something - no i am not being racist, i am stating 'statistics' **
I think the concept is really fascinating, but a few things prevent me from recommending the game. The voxel style is an unfortunate density IMO where things don't quite look clear enough to read during gameplay. The animation of foliage happens at a different frame-rate than everything else, which is very disorienting. I really want to love the game, but it needs a lot of QOL work and polish IMO.
I want this game to succeed so the rating is positive but it's crashing to often at the moment for real recommendation. Worst part is the crashes are total (requiring PC restart), not those crashes to desktop which are mildly annoying.
'Build a room' Uh, how? Check bindings, Z for Zone designation Paint the room I'm trying to build with the Zone designation (There's only one kind, I guess, Zone or Not Zone) Cool, that works. Now time to move the beds, sink, and toilet out of the ship and into the dorm I just made. They won't move the sink. It's been deconstructed. I can see it in the stockpile. The toilet and the beds moved just fine. Deprioritize everything but 'install'. Colonists just stand in a circle complaining about how stinky they are.
Dawn Apart is an ambitious blend of colony simulation, factory automation, and survival strategy developed by Industrial Technology and Witchcraft and published by Astra Logical. Set on a remote alien planet rich with resources but filled with dangers, the game places players in charge of establishing a profitable industrial settlement while ensuring the survival and well-being of its colonists. Rather than focusing solely on automation or city-building, Dawn Apart combines both disciplines into a deeply interconnected experience where every decision affects multiple aspects of the colony's future. The game's strongest feature is its emphasis on large-scale industrial growth. Players begin with limited resources and a small workforce, but gradually expand into a sprawling network of mines, factories, conveyor systems, and processing facilities. Every production chain feels meaningful because resources are not simply gathered and stored; they are transformed through increasingly complex logistical networks that demand planning and efficiency. Designing these interconnected systems becomes one of the most rewarding aspects of the game, particularly for players who enjoy optimization and problem-solving. What separates Dawn Apart from many other factory-building games is the importance of the colonists themselves. Workers are not merely numbers assigned to tasks. They require housing, food, medical support, and safe living conditions. The game constantly reminds players that industrial success depends on maintaining a healthy population. Ignoring the needs of settlers can create labor shortages, production slowdowns, and other operational problems. This balance between human management and industrial expansion adds strategic depth that keeps the gameplay engaging far beyond the early stages. Another standout element is the fully destructible voxel-based world. The environment is not a static backdrop but an active part of the gameplay experience. Players can reshape terrain, excavate massive sections of land, and redesign the landscape to suit their industrial ambitions. This freedom allows for highly personalized colony layouts and encourages creative engineering solutions. Whether carving factories into hillsides or flattening large areas for infrastructure, the ability to modify the world creates a stronger sense of ownership over the colony's development. The game's alien setting is more than just visual flavor. The planet presents numerous challenges that force players to adapt their strategies. Environmental hazards, hostile threats, and unpredictable situations create tension throughout the experience. Expansion always carries risks, and every new facility or mining operation may require additional protection. As a result, the game successfully avoids becoming a passive automation simulator. Defense and survival remain important considerations alongside economic growth and production efficiency. Visually, Dawn Apart adopts a clean and colorful style that complements its complex systems. The voxel-based presentation allows the game to showcase large-scale industrial projects without becoming visually overwhelming. Factories are easy to read, conveyor networks remain understandable even as they grow, and terrain modifications are immediately visible. Watching a small outpost evolve into a massive industrial complex is consistently satisfying, and the environmental destruction mechanics add a dynamic quality to the visuals that helps the world feel alive and responsive. The progression system also deserves praise. New technologies, production options, and construction opportunities steadily unlock as the colony develops. This gradual expansion keeps the experience fresh and provides a strong sense of momentum. Players are constantly working toward the next milestone, whether that means improving efficiency, expanding territory, or unlocking more advanced industrial capabilities. The game does an excellent job of ensuring that growth feels earned rather than automatic. As an Early Access title, Dawn Apart already presents a surprisingly robust foundation. The available content includes automation systems, colony management mechanics, combat elements, terraforming capabilities, and both structured and sandbox-style gameplay opportunities. The developers have also outlined plans for additional content and systems, suggesting that the game still has significant room to grow. While some features may continue to evolve during development, the current version already demonstrates a clear vision and a strong understanding of what makes factory and colony simulations enjoyable. The main challenge for newcomers will likely be the game's complexity. Managing logistics, workforce needs, production chains, defenses, and expansion simultaneously can feel overwhelming during the opening hours. However, players willing to invest time in learning its systems will discover a rewarding strategy experience filled with meaningful decisions and satisfying progression. Dawn Apart successfully combines the addictive efficiency-building of factory simulators with the human-focused management of colony builders. Its destructible world, deep production systems, and emphasis on balancing industrial ambition with colonist welfare create a distinctive experience within the genre. Although still evolving through Early Access, the game already offers a compelling blend of creativity, strategy, and large-scale automation that should appeal to fans of complex management games. Rating: 7/10
Great concept, looks great, plays quite well already. Like all games in EA it needs som QoL updates, and the colony part in particular needs fleshing out, but the three years of so of development this games has had before release into EA have not been wasted. I'll be playing this some more, and looking out for future updates.
personal choice, as someone who has a fulltime job and young kids. ingame time controls is a must, which this game dosnt have. game looks promising as a big fan of the genre aslong as updates keep coming i can recomend it.
