Got this because I do love my space games, automation and management is my jam, plus it seemed to have prison architect DNA in it but no unfortunately. It's probably slightly on the lower side of half of what I was hoping for, and most of it is due to the tedious nature of building and automating stuff. The big issue for me was the piping. You can connect different fabricators to storage and there's an in and an output but it ships everything from one to the other, so if you mine ice, minerals and ore it sends it through everything. Not too much of an issue because you could first ship them to dedicated storages but then I need to ship from those storages to the things that use them. It becomes a tedious mess especially when you want to start crossing pipes because the pip bridges don't work, you build a "bridge" and then when you connect a pipe it makes a cross section and it cross contaminates the stuff again, oh and pipes can't go across outer space unless it's on a truss.... annoying..... ultimately it was this frustration that got me to stop, but it's not where it started. Every piece ot equipment you put down looks "dirty", I want a nice looking station. I noticed quite a few people making box like stations well I would like to make walls, make certain rooms for certain things, manage heat and cooling especially early game. Unlocking the tech tree is not real easy, and once you need sodium it was really hard to work out how to get a steady supply, there was nothing in the knowledge base. Speaking of, the knowledge base (codex) of the game seemed half done and not real helpful. I could persevere and I might one day but for now I've had to walk away. The voices of pilots and the ai were quippy and funny for a little bit but got old really fast while I stumbled to get a foothold. I'm trying to find redeeming qualities but it's hard. When you go into a management or factory style game you don't want organisation and progression to be a real stop-gap. Sure don't make it easy, but there were just too many bizzar hurdles in it's current for for me to enjoy.
I will be honest - I am tired of early access games that claim they are not in early access while having next to no content in it. Sadly, this game is exactly one of those.

Building/automation. On paper you can build a base and fully automate it. In reality, however, you will notice almost immediately that you don’t really have much choice in your buildings - most things either have one building that does the job you need (like 1 power plant type, one floor/wall type, one pipe type, etc), or you will have the same building/a reskin doing several functions (repainted shuttles that mine different ores, factories with inbuilt recipes). For automation you get a pipe to transport any and all of your resources, and said pipe will often just break/disconnect randomly or on save/load. The variety of buildings is basically nonexistent and the buggyness of automation makes it frustrating.
Trade. The main point of building your space station is selling goods to traveling vessels. The funny part is - as soon as you hit a new tech level there is neither demand nor point in producing things you were producing before - because prices for goods grow almost exponentially, from a few credits per item to a few millions per item - and those items aren’t even that hard to craft. So you just produce the latest most priciest thing and sell it even to those who don’t want it - because it will still be more profitable than trying to satisfy demands.
Colony management. You could expect that your people on station will be something close to pawns in rimworld - with traits, needs, interests and flaws. Sadly they are just worker drones with 2 fuel types required (water and food).
Tech tree. Extremely dull tree that is there just to slow down your progression and force you to sell more cheaper stuff before you can sell more pricy stuff. Basic, boring and tedious.
Combat. You place one type of defences and that’s it. Another system that feels like a stub.
While I understand that the price of the game isn’t high, getting 10 hours of watching youtube while waiting for money/tech for the next upgrade is not a fun enough experience to pay any money for.
AI ignores task priority. Lost the game because everyone died. I literally only left two task available and that was making water and making food. They didn't even have to transport the water I had pipes. When I reloaded an old save, it won't let me click anything in the game. I know my mouse works because I can still a pause the game and zoom in and out. I mean if you're AI ignores orders in this kind of game its over for fun. I wish I had found this bug when it was still able to return the game.
It took me a few hours to get use to the game UI and how pipes are meant to work. I have beaten the game multiple times doing 100% runs. My first completely run took 12hours currently because I am trying to beat the game within 100days (best at time of review is 152 days) which seems doable and only takes at most 6 hours and as little as 4hours. I really like the game and how things get done but certain things annoy me and likely do the same to other people because some things just aren't explained well enough. The biggest thing I dislike is how storage works if all your storage is full AI does nothing and items stuck in other machines can't be used for anything until they can be put into storage which means you have have everything you need to build something but because they can't put it into storage your stuck. I have lost people just becuase of that. Priorities in task can be a little weird at times because AI seems to stack X amount of tasks so changing priorities doesn't stop them from doing their current tasks which can brick AI in place at times with only a reload fixing it. If you have pipes going over inputs leads to all items in the pipe being dropped off which leads to lots of lag which most people likely experience not knowing it is because the AI adds it to the tasks list which updates very often. I do like a lot about the game as it is like Factorio and Rimworld together, combining some of the better aspects well taking your management of things into account. I do like how the pirates work in the game so you can never fully focus on just making money and certain trades seem to trigger them instantly so later in the game you never really know what to expect until you have stuff setup to beat them. I will also add my gaming gpu is a 3060ti but I do have a 4090 in my system for AI but Steam just uses the best GPU installed when giving specs.
Pipes are the worst.... just dont bother.
Space Architect is a deep and methodical space-station management simulator that leans heavily into systems thinking, long-term planning, and the satisfaction of building complexity piece by piece. Developed by Albert Wiatr and published by PlayWay S.A., the game positions itself firmly in the tradition of hardcore simulation titles that reward patience and curiosity rather than instant gratification. From its opening moments, it makes clear that success will come not from quick reactions, but from understanding interlocking mechanics and making deliberate, often difficult decisions under constant economic pressure. The central premise revolves around constructing and expanding a space station while burdened by a massive debt owed to a powerful corporate entity. This narrative framing adds a persistent sense of urgency to what might otherwise be a purely sandbox experience. Every module placed, every mining expedition launched, and every production chain optimized is tied to the overarching goal of financial survival and eventual independence. Unlike many building simulators that allow players to expand freely at their own pace, Space Architect consistently reminds you that inefficiency has consequences, and wasted time or resources can stall progress in meaningful ways. Early gameplay is deceptively simple, focusing on basic station construction, power generation, and mining operations. However, complexity ramps up quickly as the game introduces crew management, automation systems, logistics chains, and environmental factors. Players must decide how much responsibility to assign to human workers versus machines, balancing cost, reliability, and scalability. Crew members require housing, food, and livable conditions, while automated systems demand power, maintenance, and thoughtful layout. This constant trade-off between human labor and automation becomes one of the game’s defining strategic tensions. Resource management forms the backbone of progression. Raw materials are harvested from asteroids and other celestial bodies, then refined through increasingly elaborate production pipelines. These pipelines must be carefully planned to avoid bottlenecks, shortages, or wasted output. Storage capacity, transport routes, and processing order all matter, and small inefficiencies can cascade into major problems as the station grows. The satisfaction of watching a well-designed production line operate smoothly is one of the game’s strongest rewards, especially after overcoming earlier struggles with scarcity and disorder. Station design is both a creative and logistical challenge. Modules must be arranged with attention to power distribution, heat management, crew accessibility, and workflow efficiency. Poor layout decisions can lead to power shortages, overheating, or crew inefficiencies that are difficult to fix later. As the station expands, planning ahead becomes essential, and players are encouraged to think several steps forward rather than reacting to problems after they emerge. This emphasis on foresight gives the game a cerebral quality that will strongly appeal to fans of detailed management sims. Environmental systems add another layer of depth. Temperature regulation, power balance, and life-support stability are not passive background elements but active systems that must be monitored and adjusted. Changes introduced through updates, such as expanded temperature mechanics, reinforce the game’s commitment to simulation realism. These systems ensure that expansion always comes with new risks, preventing growth from becoming trivial and reinforcing the idea that survival in space is inherently precarious. That said, Space Architect is not an easy game to approach. The learning curve is steep, and in-game guidance can feel limited, particularly for players unfamiliar with complex automation or colony simulation games. Crew AI and task prioritization can occasionally feel awkward, especially during the early stages when manpower is scarce and workloads are heavy. These rough edges don’t undermine the core design, but they do demand patience and experimentation, and the game often expects players to learn through trial and error. Visually, the game adopts a clean, top-down presentation that favors clarity over spectacle. While it may not be visually flashy, this restrained style serves the gameplay well, allowing players to easily read system states, resource flows, and structural layouts. The interface is functional, though sometimes dense, reflecting the sheer number of systems the player must manage. Audio design is subtle and unobtrusive, reinforcing the atmosphere of a working space station without distracting from the planning-heavy experience. Community reception reflects the game’s niche but dedicated appeal. Players who enjoy deep simulations often praise the sense of control, freedom, and accomplishment that comes from mastering its systems. Criticism typically focuses on quality-of-life issues, onboarding difficulty, and areas where automation tools could be more refined. Importantly, most feedback acknowledges that the game’s challenges stem from ambition rather than lack of vision, suggesting a strong foundation that benefits from continued iteration. Ultimately, Space Architect is a game for players who enjoy thinking in systems, solving logistical puzzles, and watching complex mechanisms slowly come together through careful planning. It does not rush, simplify, or soften its mechanics to accommodate casual play, and that is very much part of its identity. For those willing to invest the time to understand its depth, it offers a rewarding and intellectually engaging journey of building order, efficiency, and survival in the unforgiving vacuum of space. Rating: 7/10
Игра неплохая, но очень много непоняток и обучения нет.
