3,5/5 Darksiders Warmastered Editionia voi luonnehtia vaikkapa kolmannesta persoonasta kuvatuksi toimintaseikkailupeliksi. Maailmanlopun alkaessa pelaaja saa ohjattavakseen Sodan, tuhoon syylliseksi leimattavan ilmestykirjan ratsastajan. Tehtäväksi lankeaa tosiasiallisten syyllisten etsintä ja tuhoaminen. Aika simppelistä kostoretkestä on siis kyse. Raamatullisilla viittauksilla ratsastava tarina ja hahmot jaksavat kiinnostaa hetken aikaa, mutta mistään kovin mukaansa tempaavasta hahmokatraasta tai juonesta ei mielestäni ole kyse. Matkan varrella riittää toimintaa eli käytännössä manan majoille lähetettäviä monsuja ja kevyttä pulman ratkontaa. Kaikkiaan peli yhdisteleekin aineksia muun muassa ensimmäisten God of Warien tyylisestä mätkinnästä ja Zelda-pelien seikkailuelementeistä. Kolmannesta persoonasta kuvattujen pelien helmasynnit ovat mukana. Vaikka mätkintä yleensä sujuu mutkattomasti, tuntuvat kontrollit ajoittain epätarkoilta ja kamerakulma osoittaa kriittisillä hetkillä minne sattuu. Erityisesti muutamat ns. tasohyppelykohdat ovat näistä syistä lähinnä ärsyttäviä. Matkan varrella kohdataan useampia pomovastuksia, jotka ovat varsin näyttäviä ja päättyvät usein jonkin sorttiseen reaktiotestiin (quick time event). Onneksi näitä nykyään tulee harvemmin vastaan... Kaikenlaista löydettävää asetta, työkalua ja taisteluliikettä tuntuu olevan ähkyyn asti, eikä osaa taidoista lopulta hyödynnetä kuin pari kertaa. Kertonee ehkä siitä, että mukaan on pitänyt ympätä kaikki mieleen tulleet ideat, mutta niitä ei ole sitten sen enempää mietitty kenttäsuunnittelussa. Grafiikat ovat päivityksen myötä ok tasolla ja äänimaailma, no, ei ainakaan käy pidemmän päälle häiritsemään. Kaikkiaan kyseessä on ihan mukiin menevä kokonaisuus, joka ei kuitenkaan jaksa nousta omien lempipelien tasolle. Toisaalta mitään suurta purnaamisen aihettakaan ei nouse esiin. Läpipeluukerta kesti n. 30 tuntia, mutta saavutuksiin liittyvä grindaaminen ohittamalla peli on läpäistävissä lienee noin parissakymmenessä tunnissa.

It surprisingly holds up pretty well in terms of combat, puzzles and level design. The controls are a bit finicky but it is worth it if you have nostalgia for older action games.

One of the OG titles I guess.. didn't played it before and didn't even heard of it until recently and I m happy I did. The lore was epic tbh the story is top tier, giving god of war vibes, for a 2016 remastered game is still definitely enjoyably playable, I mostly had fun with it but not with the completion tbh as it requires a ♥♥♥♥ amount of grinding here and there and abusing a specific glitch the make the grinding grindable i guess if it is a word. Anyway even though I didn't yet play the whole series But I think it deserves a chance and the time to get into it, pretty excited to play the second one thanks to the awesome ending this one handed. 7.8/10
