Playing Darkheart - Flight of the Harpies reminded me of good old Artfex Mundi games, back when they used to create high quality titles. Developed by Lazy Turtle Games - a completely different company which has nothing to do with Artifex Mundi (I’m only mentioning them because they seem to be the reference name when it comes to HOGs) and published by HH-Games, Darkheart - Flight of the Harpies is a solid Hidden Object Game which brings a few innovative elements to the genre. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2505367689 From the beginning, it’s pretty obvious that a lot of effort was put into creating this title. The scenery is breathtaking, full of vivid colors; the HOG scenes are varied and well done and the voice overs are pretty great as well. These are enough to keep the gameplay at a very enjoyable level, but what I really liked about this title was the fact that there were a lot of mini-cutscenes. Whenever there was an action to be performed in between picking up items or solving puzzles, it was “acted out” through a short (2-3 seconds) cutscene. And the fact that these moments were very often contributed a lot to the immersion into an already pleasant and easy to follow story. Set in medieval times, the game focuses on the adventures of a young woman whose parents were abducted by a mysterious dark force. She embarks on a quest to find them, on a journey full of magic and mythical creatures. On the way, she meets various characters that will end up accompanying her and helping her fight the evil sorcerer. They are integrated into the story in a very creative and innovative manner - you will actually be required to actively enlist their help in solving certain puzzles by clicking their portraits and placing them into the scenery, but they will also give you tasks to find special items that they need. The bonus chapter also has a similar mechanic, namely that you will be able to use the 4 main elemental powers (earth, water, fire and air) to solve quests by casting the spells (for example using earth to help a plant grow, or filling a pit with water in order to lift an unreachable object). https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2505367271 In terms of difficulty, the puzzles are fairly easy and accessible and you can play the game in one of the 3 standard difficulties and additionally a custom one. There is a map that shows you the available actions (on Easy Mode) and serves as a fast travel, but there’s also a hint system and a whole in-game guide that acts like a full walkthrough, including solutions to the puzzles and hidden object scenes. The game is extremely flexible and lets the player choose the degree of challenge that they prefer. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2505366643 Darkheart - Flight of the Harpies is a wonderful, 3.5-4h long HOG. For some period of time after the release, the achievements related to collectibles were broken, but they have been recently removed, enabling the possibility to obtain 100% completion. The forum threads mention some bugs here and there, but apart from some small grammar errors, I did not encounter any issues with my gameplay. Definitely not! Pros .Lovely artwork/graphics/scenes .Appropriate music/sounds/voice acting .Four difficulty modes including custom .Mini-map with fast travel (receive in-game) .Stationary toolbar .Intricate to simplistic adventure play .Variety of hidden object scenes .Bonus chapter Cons .Story very basic (kidnapped relatives) .Mini-map legend in another language .No indication when objects in correct position for possible use ,Mechanics were a little slow and clunky .Easy to annoying mini-puzzles (with vague instructions) .Very short, even with bonus chapter .On first run thru, game froze at final boss battle and would not play any further .On second run thru, game was very glitching and quit twice .On second run thru, game again froze at final boss battle (but did eventually continue) Final words (2/10): I enjoyed the adventure play and hidden object scenes, was often annoyed with the mechanics and mini-puzzles, and disappointed over the length but it had still earned a five out of ten from me. Then it froze. And glitched. And quit. And froze again. So I cannot recommend it. (And I will be deleting it.)

A great adventure! I I think I really enjoyed this game so much because the flow was just so good in this game and you weren't running around looking for all kinds of stupid amulets to open every darn thing! The story was sometimes a bit incoherent but all in all a good story. The art is wonderful and the voice actors are superb (I hate the bad voices in most of these games)! The hidden object scenes are varied with silhouetted shape finds in pairs, interactive list finds, smaller zoom zone multiple finds and more… I played the game in 4-5 hours, which is Ok for a standard edition. You can wait till the game is in a bundle or has a good discount … but I was happy to buy it.
This is a fun and creative hidden object game - The visuals are very beautiful with vivid colors and extraordinary special effects, and the animations are also very well done. The game was very colorful, the music was beautiful, the sound of the characters voices was just perfect. The Hidden object scenes were nice – not to dark and not to messy. The mini games were challenging – some easier but some pretty hard. The game had a nice feel to it; it flowed smoothly and was a pleasure to play. This was an exceptionally good hidden object adventure and I can recommend it.
I could not play this game on my Windows 10 PC with a 2560x1440 monitor. The game did not come up full screen instead it was a smaller window stuck in the lower right corner. I could enter my name but after that there was no way to start the game or to get to the options to try and adjust the screen size. The window did not have the normal windows title bar and frame. First time I've run into this problem and I've downloaded and run dozens of similar games.
"Darkheart: Flight of the Harpies" is a Hidden Object puzzle game, the type you normally see on mobile app stores or even as browser apps. There's literally hundreds of these on Steam, mostly published by Artifex Mundi, many of them free on mobile app stores, but this one will cost you money on Steam. There's a slightly dark fantasy theme to the game, but this is a just a veneer over a tired and overdone set of hidden object minigames and Adobe Flash tier puzzles, wrapped together with a bunch of static screens that you "move" through by tapping your finger on your iPhone screen. While these kinds of games are popular amongst casual gamers, it's difficult to argue this is a great value proposition as a PC game, especially considering the price of this compared to the hundreds of free HOGs on the mobile app stores. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features mostly static, barely animated 2D images, the kind of thing you expect to see in browser/flash games. While the artwork itself, while mediocre, might be considered passable, the visual presentation here is negligible, it might as well be a slideshow or a Youtube video. Pac-Man, Space Invaders and Asteroids had more advanced animation and visuals going on than this game does. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but I wasn't able to find it on the app stores. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes "Darkheart: Flight of the Harpies" might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 7 players, and the worst part is these weren't genuine players, these were the Russian fake review accounts that the developer paid to make the fake reviews. Since the fake reviews are all done, now the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.
Warning: Review Manipulation!
This game features a small number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product. "Darkheart: Flight of the Harpies" has the preposterous price of around $7 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the unethical nature of the developer. Remember that if you buy a game from an unethical developer, you're putting your money at risk. Because this is the kind of game you can just play for free on mobile phones, it's impossible to recommend anyone should pay money for the same experience on Steam.
Profile Features Limited!
Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
Весьма симпатичный художественным оформлением и сюжетом квест по небольшой цене. Рекомендую.
An adequate and easy casual point-and-click adventure with a few hidden-object scenes and puzzle mini-games. Though the story is weird (harpies?) and skin-deep, the game has nice drawings and beautiful animations. You meet some shallow but memorable NPCs along the way and they become "tools" for you to solve puzzles. Actually, they get to do more fun stuff than you do. The bonus chapter adds an interesting new gameplay mechanic. The game has collectibles, but although I followed the built-in guide and I'm fairly sure I found them all, I did not get the related achievements.
https://youtu.be/s9CG3wEsKQM Evil wizards are no match for the average medieval serf with a rock. Embark on a quest to solve simple puzzles on a quest to save your parents from becoming harpy chow.
