Reviews
Great experiment, but no the greatest game in series. Everything feels clunky and there are a lot of gotcha moments which hurt the design and don't make sense - traps, strange location connections and badly refined aesthetics. The bosses feel like they are not up to the pace and many of them are not very inventive or interesting. Still has its moments and it is a great step towards the evolution of the genre.

Peak Souls
FromSoftware's first sin
Peak dos Peak, melhor souls
Despite what people say about this being the weakest link in the Fromsoftware franchise, I think that Dark Souls II is a masterpiece. The almost 60 hours I have spent in the past month or two playing this game have been amazing. This game has an amazing world that is magical and unique, as well as cool features and story woven into it. I think the NPC interactions are all really good as well, more so than most games. There is also more content than what meets the eye, as there are many secret bosses that are hard to find but well worth it to research how to find after beating the main game and DLC. Both 2 endings to this game are quite cool, primarily the more secretive second ending, which has an extra boss at the end which makes it up for the lackluster final boss for the main ending. There are countless weapons, spells, hexes, and pyromancies and many builds to try. The game is very generous with the amount of souls given from bosses leaving me with hundreds of thousands I did not spend because I wanted a challenge. This eliminates the complaint that people often have about the ADP stat which helps with i-frames, because you should have more than enough souls coming your way that it makes no difference and leaves it as a cool feature. There was probably only 1-2 attacks that have bad hit boxes, which I was expecting more from what I had heard. I also think this game has very memorable music and is truly special. This game even has 3 DLC to do, they are quite difficult but overall are very well made (excluding one hidden area with a duo boss that almost made me quit). I think some of my favorite bosses in gaming are from the second DLC and were very fun to fight. Here are some honest ratings I will give aspects of the game Creativity - (10/10) Music - (9/10) Graphics - (10/10) Level Design - (10/10) Bosses - (6/10) Build Variety - (9/10) NPC Interactions - (10/10) Jolly Cooperation - (7/10) Overall Score (10/10) Overall this game has left a lasting impact on me and will forever be one of my favorite games.
I hate this game. Before anyone assumes the same, here is a tl;dr: Dark Souls 2 is a game that's designed to be annoying with no reward. Seriously, I hate this game enough that I don't care about spoilers because your mind is constantly on survival mode, you don't even get to appreciate the lore or environment. At the end of your journey, you kill a tree blob that does like three moves in total. It's not even a challenging fight, and it's not even a struggle. It felt like I went through all these hardship to end up fighting a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ blob that explodes once in a while, and teleports. I know Dark Souls 2 is supposed to be a slower paced, lore heavy, and tests your patience and resolve, but the nature of the lore is already extremely obscure and vague, and that's the meaning of the final boss. But the entire game felt like unnecessary hardship just to "understand" the lore and the reward is something like "You understood the story" or "now you know better" and it feels like a sham. Once in a while I get to stop and look around the environment to enjoy and admire them. But each beautiful scenery reminds me of the ♥♥♥♥ I had to go through, and poisons the beautifully crafted world. I liked the game went for a more experimental and improved combat system compared to the first Dark Souls. More animations, fun to master combat, and learning them was great. Soul memory was interesting, power stance was amazing, bonfire ascetics is a great and unique option you have, and adaptability feels like a scam. There was no real memorable bosses, no enemes I had fun fighting, and no enemies I enjoyed fighting. Levels feels like constant ragebait, and enemies constantly annoy you. I'm not stopping anyone to play this game, but I do not recommend it. The only game I don't want to play a second time on NG+. And since there is no Steam Cloud save, I deleted my save without a second thought. It didn't feel like a loss, but it felt like relief.
first game I played that felt like going to work
