Mistakes from the previous game were fixed. The slowliness of acquiring a combined "item" is faster and the items are far better hidden now too. This one also feels somewhat more like the previous Dark Parables. Brienne, the Red Hood Huntress is overly beautiful and puts a shame to the other characters in previous games... Lol... They tried their hand at different puzzles. Harder rules. Can't say my brain followed all of 'em, but alright. Still fun/relaxing. Thanks you! :D :> :) (This game gives me a "False Positive" upon installation and well... Being a VN reader that's nothing to freak out about. (Unless you got it from a shady place that is...) But if it unsettles you, then there is your warning.)
Short version: 65%
Dark Parables 9 is perfect for those who like good fragmented object scenes with a nice story but need little else in a casual adventure.
Long version:
Since this was their second Dark Parables game, Eipix tried to do something more familiar for them in The Queen of Sands. For example, they wrote an actual plot with plenty of cut-scenes, supporting characters, and backstory. Although I do not know if it is clever or questionable that it takes some time to recognise the current parable. (It is Beauty and the Beast, but there is no Beauty.) However, I have some problems with the plot. At its core, it is about gathering magical items to prevent some evil-doer finishing an unexplained ritual. It feels too generic for this genre. If you like fragmented object scenes, you will enjoy the gameplay. They can be challenging, but they are always fair and fun. As for the rest… The puzzles are okay, I guess. They have some variety, but they don't stand out from similar games. The adventure game portions usually give you a lot of items, but the map indicators help with them. Overall, it is an okay casual adventure game made for FROG lovers.
I got this Game gifted from a former friend and I am very thankful for it ♥ First of all If you havent played any Dark Parables Games I recommend you to go back and play the first one as those games are meant to be played in Order. Dark Parables: Queen of Sands Collector's Edition comes with the Main Story which is around 3 and a half hours long and a Bonus Chapter which gives you another half to an hour. It also comes with Extras, such as Wallpapers, Music, Mini Games, Ingame Movies and Concept Art. The Voice Acting in this Game was once again rather nicely made and the Art Style was absolutely beautiful. Due to its Dark Story compared to the previous one, the colours weren't as vibrant but the scenery was beautiful regardless. Once again you could not change the Resolution which was no problem whatsoever as it was by default widescreen and unlike in previous Dark Parables it was proper widescreen and not just a stretched image. This Game has a functioning Steam Overlay, however does not come with Steam trading Cards or Steam Achievement. It does provide ingame Achievements. One of my favourite Parts of the Dark Parables games are, how you can collect during the Game pieces which will, once all of them are collected, give you a little background Story, which to my disappointment did not get read to you by a guy but you rather had to read yourself. Regardless of this little let down I have noticed that you can click on the missing parables parts to find them and read the full background stories yourself, even after the game has been finished. As in the previous Games you can also in this Game Fast Travel. Personally it didnt bother me to much that you couldn't Fast Travel in the previous Games but I saw alot of people listening it as negative Point and I must admit after playing a Dark Parables The Little Mermaid and the Purple Tide, I didnt wanted to be without this option anymore and luckily this game provided it! The Hidden Object Scenes were compared to the previous games rather easy, especially due to the higher resolution and the proper widescreen. Most of the Puzzles were also rather easy to finish and I had alot of fun doing them, however I found some of them challenging as well. In Dark Parables: Ballad of Rapunzel you were able to get at the End 3 different Endings, which I personally was a big Fan of. It is sad to see that the previous Game and this one do not include it. The Story itself was as always rather lovely and I did enjoy it alot. Especially the Bonus Story was sticking to me this time and I would off wished to see more of it! All in all this Game is Fantastic! It mainly overtook most of the features from the previous Game with slightly less vibrant colours, yet it is still a beautiful game. I recommend this Game to any HO Fan and to anybody that loves a good Story. Great game, challenging puzzles. I really enjoyed this game.
A fantastic collection of games, many puzzles, and art that is fantastic. well worth the $10.00.
A simply brilliant game, typical of the high standard of Eipix games! Enough said!!
This is Dark Parables #9, the second game in the series from Eipix. I think that in their #8 they were still learning the in and outs of series. This entry feels more focused. And in terms of gameplay, it's terrific. I enjoyed the challenging hidden-fragment scenes so much that I want for all related achievements. The story is ... perhaps too minimalistic. There are very few characters and really not much going on. The story here is especially backgrounded.
IF you like to look for things, solve puzzles all with a great storyline. Dark Parables have never disappointed me.
It's a fun Hidden object game, But is part 9 of 16 of the dark parables series
Parables: The Queen of Sands
"When the nightmare of the year of the Raven ended, the Moon Goddess gathered her children, to mourn the fall of the Keeper. The Goddess vowed to protect the rest from corruption. She gathered the Keepers and chose the wisest of them to become her champion. She imbued him with her powers, anointing him as King of the Keepers. Time is an ever-flowing river, and its waters bring change. As the centuries passed, humanity soared on the wings of progress and innovation. As humanity changed, so did their dreams. The Goddess understood that change begets change, so she knew the Keepers must also adapt. In the year of the Silver Moon, the Goddess descended to Earth for the Time of Purity. The Goddess gathered the Keepers once more and declared they would have a new leader: the purest among the Keepers, who was both powerful and well-remembered for her own humanity. Thus, the Goddess anointed Mab as the Queen of Sands."
