Dark Parables: Goldilocks and the Fallen Star Collector's Edition

[h1]Short version: 71%[/h1] Dark Parables 10 has a surprisingly engaging story with some predictable fragment object gameplay elements. It is better suited for those who are not familiar with Eipix's portfolio. [h1]Long version:[/h1] So… Goldilocks is a martial artist, whose sister is a queen trying to take over the world by unleashing an army of robot bears to find a wish-granting star. I guess we definitely see a unique interpretation of the Goldilocks story. Despite the strange premise, the story is excellent. It has a good supporting cast, nice pacing, and some exciting twists. Overall, Goldilocks and the Fallen Star is probably my favourite Dark Parables games from Eipix. I wish the same were valid for the gameplay. If you are familiar with Eipix's hidden object games, then you will know all puzzles by heart. If not, then you will simply find them repetitive. The fragmented object scenes range from great to downright obnoxious. Finally, the adventure game portion is an endless search for wall sockets and things to put into them. Oh, also, do not even try to search for the bonus collectable snowflakes without a guide. I am sure it is physically impossible.

I certainly didn't think this was where the Three Bears story would go. >.> Especially with a touch of [spoiler]Midas[/spoiler] curse. I can't offer much on telling you about this game as it would spoil the characters that came back and the newer powers that were introduced. But otherwise it's still interesting, even if the puzzles are back to HARD. Only this game has "Casual... HARD... INSANE..." Modes. Lol. Still works. We... I keep going. Good game, beautiful art, nice music. HOPs can be challenging (and occasionally frustrating, since sizes can be unexpected - better than in some earlier games in the series, though). The puzzles are excellent in this game (although figuring out the mechanics - as opposed to the puzzle - can be frustrating in 2-3 spots). This game took the idea of the "hidden object" per scene (a snowflake, in this case) just that one step too far. Good luck with the snowflakes, Detective. Be prepared for dark on dark, light on light, and more than fifty shades of grey. A good story; those of you who have seen the 2006+ Doctor Who series may find certains parts reminiscent. I think some of the earlier games in the series had more depth and build up in the story, but this one's still fine. I enjoy these games a lot, despite the occasional flaws. 8.5/10 overall, but I thought the puzzles were more interesting than usual.

This is one of my favorites in the Dark parables series. I like the story line because it made sense to me (as several of them often seem jumbled and poorly though out) but this one was on point with the graphics like normal. I didn't think the HOP's were too easy nor too difficult.

This is the tenth game in the series. Just wait to buy it in the 50% off sale that runs every now and again. Of the first ten games, it and Queen of Sands are tied for the worst one. Eipix took over making these games and they're just not as good as Blue Tea. Although I did prefer this game over The Little Mermaid and the Purple Tide the change in developer is quite detectable in both games, by which that they have a slight but distinctly different feel to the earlier editions in the series. The facial expressions are amusingly disconcerting, as is typical with the Dark Parables series, and while they are less clear in purpose than in earlier iterations the items are very pretty. The plot felt like it came across better than that of Purple Tide, and the 'action' and manual item interaction scenes are really, really good and I'm glad they were introduced as a design aspect and mechanic.

Dark Parables #10. A series of fragmented object games with puzzles and stories that each stand alone, but are also interconnected in the form of recurring characters. But each game tells its own story and they can technically be played in any order. This is one of the newer games in this series, so there is fast travel. There are also achievements within the game, though they don't show up on Steam. There are collectibles that unlock lore. It also has a bonus adventure. The story for this one completely reimagines Goldilocks as a princess with the Midas touch. Not the best story in the series, but pretty good. Recurring characters include Jack from DP #6.
