This was a great way to spend the weekend. Chilling out, some light puzzles, and some exploration of humanity, utopia, and AI. Definitely worth the money i spent.
an ejoyable game. no as creepy as it could be. but brings up good points. liked the story and puzzles
Beautiful game. It is a mirror of the heart. I was a bit surprised by the ending, but it was still great (I've chosen the zoned-out girl, by the way). The nice thing is that you don't get penalised for being trusting (trusting Nora is the only way to make both twins survive). Additionally, it's one of those rare cases where the AI isn't evil in some way, and... I'd say this isn't really a dystopia, since you can make people think on their own and everyone's happy. The only thing I'd criticise is the movement (it just sometimes feels too slow) and the puzzles on the 4th and especially the 6th day. They're a bit too hard and unintuitive in my opinion. But otherwise... A beautiful game.
D-Topia is a comfy cozy puzzle game with adventure elements. The puzzles are in the very easy to easy difficulty, so nobody should have actual problems solving them. Solving puzzles gives you money that you can use to buy decorations for your home or differend food items or meals. To my mind the games biggest point is the story, or better the story that isn't directly told. The directly told story points are all slice-of-life like sequences with a set of about 10 different characters with their own quirky characters. Each of them trying their best to fit into D-Topia and getting your character in more or less trouble. Personally I found these nice but also quite shallow. There is often one quite obvious "good" solution to the situation and some other worse solutions. I found all of the characters very relatable and lovable (even the bad ones) but I'd love to learn more about them than just the bit that is currently available in the game. For some characters it felt like I've barely got to know them before the game ended even though I was at a maximum relationship level with them. On the other side I liked the topics that the game covers while not directly talking about them. These topics are often of a more philosophical nature (
What is happiness? What makes you human? What means freedom in a carefree environment?
). I would have loved to see the game emphasize these topics a bit more in the last third. I already mentioned the decorations for the players home, besides these there are a few other colelctibles and achievables that players who like to 100% a game might find engaging. All in all I had a good time with the game. It has a few flaws (e.g. what characters actually have something interesting to tell you is not communicated at all - so you're talking to everybody everyday and listen to a lot of unimportant things) but the presentation and the cozy sci-fi atmosphere are well worth it.
