Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.57/day in the week to Aug 14 → 8.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

Cultist Simulator is a game of apocalypse and yearning from Alexis Kennedy, creator of Fallen London and Sunless Sea. Play as a seeker after unholy mysteries, in a 1920s-themed setting of hidden gods and secret histories. Perhaps you're looking for knowledge, or power, or beauty, or revenge. Perhaps you just want the colours beneath the skin of the world.
In this roguelike narrative card game, what you find may transform you forever. Every choice you make, from moment to moment, doesn't just advance the narrative - it also shapes it.
Become a scholar of the unseen arts. Search your dreams for sanity-twisting rituals. Craft tools and summon spirits. Indoctrinate innocents. Seize your place as the herald of a new age.

In this 20-40 hour game, you'll:
Combine cards to tell your own story in a rich, Lovecraftian world of ambition, appetite and abomination. Corrupt your friends. Consume your enemies. There is never only one history.
Found a cult, dedicated to the Red Grail, or the Witch-and-Sister, or the Forge of Days. Recruit Believers and promote them to Disciples to serve as burglars, researchers, cat's-paws. Use your disciples to keep you fed - or feed on your disciples.
Unravel arcane, unacknowledged mysteries. Translate grimoires and glean their lore. Locate and pillage the Star Shattered Fane. Penetrate the realm of the Hours, and win a place in their service. Perhaps - if you are very cunning - you may even glimpse the Mansus.
Outwit rivals, investigators and the increasingly suspicious Authorities. Your own altered Appetites may force you to act abominably, but your Cause must not be stopped.
Transcend death with a story-driven legacy system. Perhaps your inheritors will complete the Rite of the Crucible Soul. Perhaps they'll find peace in a pleasing career. Perhaps they'll bring the Dawn.

Reviews
About the game, it's tideously long, more than it probably should be, it's methodical. It claims to make you discover things, not in reality you are mad man, trying to hit every wall, untill you either gain enough prespective to really see things, or stumble unpon them without realization. It feels longer than life, it excites me by it's mysteries, but at the end of the day it spells out for you what you need to do, you just need to know on every door to see what you really need to win. At the end the only reason you stay is obsession. If you don't feel it, I would not recommend to buy

Cool vibes, good and deep lore, absolutely tedious gameplay. When you don't know what you're doing you'll spend full real life days on a single run and fail, when you do know you'll still spend many many hours grinding for pittances of progress for an unsatisfying victory or a game over that wasted hours and hours because you failed to spin one of your dozen plates as your eyes glazed over from the repetitive constant tasks and you briefly missed one thing. It's fun for about 10-20 hours when you're still discovering things and feel smart for figuring something out, but once you look up things you find it's not quite as deep as you thought.

Take risks. You won’t always know what to do next. Keep experimenting, and you’ll master it.”
Cultist Simulator's central mechanic is unique: figuring out esoteric dark arts by fumbling around with trial-and-error. It's actually extremely cool, and weaves the game mechanics tightly with the theme. It's a tough one, though, because eventually the magic wears off and it starts to feel like filing taxes with a gun pointed at your balls. To keep things vague, I decided against this game having real staying power after the most irritating experience it threw at me so far: a randomly unpreventable curse that requires a high-level ephemeral card to be kept around in anticipation of it via a mechanic that feels more like a glitch than witchcraft. That was a microcosm of the game's general lack of respect for your time. Too much time spent waiting for timers, too much punishment for failing to anticipate exact negative outcomes ahead of time, too much of the same ground retread when starting new runs. It's easily possible to spend 10 hours on a run, have your cult blow up because of a series of bad dice rolls, and then spend another 8 hours getting to almost exactly the same place you were before. Coming back to the curse: With obsessive planning and experimentation, I managed to prevent almost every possible problem that could death-spiral my cult, but had to pause when I saw that curse. Working backwards, preventing it reliably seemed so annoying that I decided to finish the run by save-scumming and call it a day. Still -- a lot of potential on display. This is Weather Factory's first shot at making a game like this, and Book of Hours probably does a better job.
I feel like one of the definitive qualities of a good indie title is how weird it is willing to get. Cultist Simulator is different than anything else on the market, to the point where it's hard to point out a genre. This one is for the loreheads, assuming the loreheads also like stress, random and permanent deaths, and hours upon hours of lost progress for failing memory and attention mechanics (I will point you towards Book of Hours for a *substantially* friendlier sequel that does not require a Cultist Sim victory to play) Without going too deep into its structure, you have some nouns and some adjectives and a slightly increasing selection of verbs, and your goal is to assemble them into coherent sentences before finally determining just what the hell it is you are reading. Time is a factor but not an overly critical one, ticked away in minute intervals that feel unnecessary at first but soon serve to provide you breathing space to respond to crises, form strategems, break out of your routines and into new ones, and just live in your brain for a bit. As the game unfolds into a mass of ideas and a mess of cards, a narrative about investigating and understanding the occult transpires, while juggling waning sanity, looming conspiracy and a grind of a day job. It's really good, in the spirit and ancestry of the Fallen London/Sunless Seas games in its humor, darkness and esoterica - and like them it is a game with almost no graphics, just gentle abstractions and some text dripping with texture and flavor. When its good, the mechanics inform the narrative, when its bad, the narrative still prevails - though sometimes you might feel compelled to go wiki-diving to figure out how to read on without dying. I wouldn't say Cultist Simulator is a finished thought in all its respects (particularly as a prelude to Book of Hours, a different but similar follow-up with substantially less maddening stress and fatality) but it is entertainingly broken. If you come in it with a desire to just investigate the world from a position of innocence (Disco style), and uncover a world in fragments to piece it together as a whole (Dark Souls style), you're likely to have a good time.
