My machine can run Crysis (I think). 2 minute TLDR: If you want a pretty, bombastic, flexible shooter that wants you to have fun with its (back then) cutting edge physics and weaponry, you should get this. While not the most gripping story, the gunplay and emergent gameplay from fights still stands up today. Some of the set pieces from the second half of the game are pretty epic, too.
Developed by Crytek, Crysis was both a visual marvel and a stress test that made powerful PCs break a sweat. Behind all the hardware hype, though, it delivered a solid sci-fi shooter experience that’s held up surprisingly well, even a decade and a half later. In Crysis, you play as Nomad, a special operative sent to the Lingshan Islands to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a scientific team. The mission, however, quickly spirals from a routine extraction into a full-scale battle with North Korean forces, and soon after, a fight against alien invaders. The game’s narrative unfolds gradually, introducing intrigue, betrayals, and threats that turn an ordinary tropical island into a combat zone full of escalating dangers. Nanosuit Modes: You can switch between Armor, Strength, Speed, and Cloak modes at any moment. Want to throw a guy through a wall? Strength mode. Want to turn invisible and freak out some guards? Cloak mode. Forget storyline, this game’s all about making you feel like the apex predator of the jungle. The nanosuit mechanics feel fresh and empowering, making Crysis less of a straightforward shooter and more of a tactical sandbox. Each mission’s open design invites experimentation, whether you’re blowing up enemy camps, silently neutralizing threats, or sprinting past the chaos. The game provides just enough structure to keep you on track while allowing you to approach challenges with creativity. The graphics in Crysis redefined the limits of what games could look like in 2007, and they remain stunning even by today’s standards. The island is lush with dense forests, realistic water reflections, and dynamic lighting that brings the setting to life. But all this visual fidelity comes at a price. The hardware demands of Crysis were infamous, spawning the legendary question, “But can it run Crysis?” Few systems in 2007 could handle the game on maximum settings and probably sounded like a jet engine getting ready for takeoff. Crytek’s ambition created a game so advanced that even modern PCs sometimes struggle to run it on full settings without a dip in performance. Crytek’s vision for Crysis wasn’t just to make a fun game; they wanted to push the industry forward. They succeeded, creating a benchmark title that set a new standard for graphics, physics, and open-ended gameplay. Crysis remains a landmark, revered for its technical achievements and loved for its engaging, sandbox-style gameplay.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 7: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

I have unbelievable nostalgia for this game, but it actually is pretty amazing. Me and a friend played the multiplayer any time I was on my PC as kids and it was just such a blast. Basically Battlefield but with a few "powers" and sci fi weapons. Awesome stuff, and a shame that the other games in the franchise went for a more generic CoD type MP. The multiplayer is officially dead and have been for years so why you would buy it is for the singleplayer, and the later entries franchise has never topped that one either. More Far Cry than CoD, which is not strange as these are the OG FC developers, and it is just a blast (well, at least until the second ish half lol). This is also one of those games that went beyond just pretty graphics, which it is mostly known for, where the interactivity and flexibility of the different tools and environments are pretty crazy. A shame that this level of interactivity has drastically decreased in place for just pretty graphics nowadays, and not only in this franchise. I really hope that Crytek nails the announced fourth installment, combining the superior gameplay feel and graphics of 3 with the depth, interactivity and scale of 1, but I will keep my expectations pretty low lol. Great game!
Very good game.

Fun but buggy. The last half is infuriating at times.
