This cutsie artstyle might make you guess at what this is, but I can assure you it's a genuinely fun game. It has a little bit of tactical fun, but most of the strong charm lies in the way the aiming mechanic combines with all of the fun guns, toys, modifications, and bonuses. The roguelike progression is really well accomplished. There's a surprising amount of depth in playing through the campaign and working through all of the challenges. If you're considering it at all, I promise you it's very worth it.
I've been playing this game for years thru different beta versions. I'm so happy that it's finally out. It's always been my fav game at the dev group meetups. I have a sticker the creator gave me on my gaming suitcase. Thanks so much for recreating it and giving us all joy! God Bless! Ohh I forgot to review it... It's like Scorched Earth, a 3D Worms or Warhammer 40k Kill Team. A turnbased 3rd person/POV FPS. Run and Gun! It's a slow sniper shoot outs but once you get in close it's shotguns to the face! Buy it! You'll love killing your lil brother or spouse in a couch CO-OP. Kill them critters quick but don't get caught in the crossfire!
This is a very fun game. Movement works like XCOM and aiming is more like Valkyria Chronicle. The game is also physic based, so you have to take that into account when you aim. Critter Crossfire is not that long, but it's cheap. There's no story per say. You can do skirmish matches or challenges, those are kinda like a ''campaign mode''. It has roguelike elements so you keep unlocking new stuff when you die or finish a run. One super cool thing is that it has a multiplayer mode and you can play with your friends on one computer! I will keep playing if they add more content, but for now, I feel like I saw all what the game has to offer at the moment.
Enjoying so far! FPS tactics, and I can whizz through with just my mouse.
Fun Campaign with lots of challenges and skill combinations for interesting attacks and synergies. hoping for more maps, qol and content. Fun with friends. Great on steamdeck. watch out for bosses with explosive gatling guns.
mega fun, there's really nothing else like this
You don't have enough time in a single run to get a build that's fun or powerful in a meaningful way. By the time you've finally found an interesting upgrade, you're on the final battle and barely have a chance to use it before the run is over.
Fun game, just wish I could finish a run. I continually run into a bug where suddenly every shot from me or the opposing team registers as a hut but does zero damage. Would love to recommend this, just as soon as someone fixes this or tells me what I'm encountering. Edit after patch- Significant improvement on the deck, no issues on laptop. It gets a little frustrating from the randomness, but this game is a blast. Absolute recommend now.
Like if XCOM and Worms had a baby. Getting that headshot through the hole in the water wheel felt great.
