Reviews
First and most importantly, this game is delightful. Is it "XCOM meets Worms" like everybody says? Yeah, basically. The pacing is good, and it's a quality experience whether you're playing solo or multiplayer (this is the only game besides Bomberman that all three of my kids like to play head-to-head). The aiming is tough but mostly fair---honestly I like it better here than I did in Phoenix Point (although I do always get rid of the mortar and the grenade ASAP). There is some real jank -- In particular, the tank boss is glitchy as all hell (although never to the point that I couldn't complete a battle). The game also would have benefited from more map variety. Overall, though, Critter Crossfire is an impressive offering from a one-man developer. My kids and I have gotten a ton of mileage out of it.
It feels like mini-golf with shotguns. There's a lot of fun to be had with combining the different weapon mods together.
This game is such a cool mashup of genres. I played the solo campaign and found myself holding my breath with every shot. The physics based nature of projectiles keeps every shot interesting while providing me an interesting mechanic to master. I also really liked the roguelike aspect, where even if you lose, you get some currency out of your run that makes you stronger for next time. Also the goofy characters and their dances were totally adorable!
love it! i'm a fan of tactics style games and i love the twist of this one. playing with friends reminds me of old school worms back in the day. roguelike elements feel great and super re-playable. ya love to see games with these "familiar but different" hooks actually get made AND be good. I do recommend!
Only just started the game and already its got that nice addictive element
Better written reviews exist but I want to get my positive one in near launch. I haven't played enough to talk about amount of content etc but it's fun and it's technically competent thus far. There's room for decent strategy and you could probably get insanely good at aiming over time. One small nitpick is that it can be hard to know if a piece of scenery is in the way before entering aim mode but you could argue that's part of the learning process.
This game is fun AF, is highly addictive, can be played in short bursts or longer sessions, and is steam deck compatible. In addition to my nearly 4 hours of playtime I also played for several hours in the demo. already a contender for one of my favorite games of all time. $15 is a steal. probably my only complaint is that there are only 4 factions, but they all play the same and are seemingly just cosmetic.
Super fun game, I like the items and customizing character loadouts. The game also introduces concepts at a good pace.
A really fun and silly turn based tactics roguelike. Runs like a charm on steam deck and should be verified
