HeatStroke is a simulation game tasking you to transcribe an unhinged short story while driving down a seemingly endless desert road.

I curse everyone who has worked on that game for the next 15 generations
You could read a novel like a normal person, but you would much rather suffer
whilst being aware of the amount of typing this game had, its tedium, and downright antithetical design towards the player the game is beautifully unique and subversive the story gripped me so much that despite growing tired more than halfway through, i was motivated to see how it ends, and im happy i did.
its a book. if you've ever zoned out and lost focus after reading for a good 2 hours straight, this book combats that by giving you a meaningless gameplay loop to keep you engaged. and for some reason, it works. the book is really good too.
Heatstroke isn't for everybody, calling Heatstroke a game is misleading, It is better described as an interactive experience. The entire game is a balancing act of keeping your car on the road while also looking away from the road to write a short story. It took me around 5 and a half hours to finish, and as someone with an average typing speed I expect that to be a good general estimate for how long the game is for the average person. Before you read on, I'm going to give some details about the game, and its story. I won't be spoiling anything, but some information below could possibly impact your experience with the game, and I highly suggest going into completely blind. However if you are still unsure if this is worth your time, I hope that I with some more information I can convince you otherwise. The story you are writing is split into chapters, which you will find out after finishing the first short introduction chapter where it will tell you that you have just finished chapter 1/9. This gives you a false sense of progress as you assume that the other chapters will be of similar length. Without giving too much away, This game is trying to trick you. It gives you false information, as you get closer and closer to the end music becomes louder, making it harder to hear when you're beginning to drift off the road. It makes you anxious, and uneasy as you worry about losing the hours of progress you've made which compliments the story tremendously. As for the story itself, without spoiling too much, it is about the concept of immortality and explores philosophical themes of the self, and what it means to be human. The entire plot can essentially be described as "What if the ship of Theseus was a man" (For those that don't know the Ship of Theseus is a thought experiment where the ship gradually has all of its components replaced with new ones until nothing of the original ship remains) In summary, while I recognise this is a tough game to get through, if you enjoy well written horror, I genuinely cannot recommend this game enough. I believe it is an experience that you will not regret and is well worth the time.
sunken cost fallacy ahh game
Played this for 7 hours straight to finish in one sitting, I really enjoyed the story and wish it was a physical book so I could read it without having to type it out myself. The gameplay is really good at holding your attention requiring you to multi task with keeping your car on the road while typing out the pre-written story. Would recommend getting food and water before you start playing if you want to 100% the game as it has a timer that goes down when you pause it.
i miss the man i was 6 hours ago
Heatstroke is a difficult but very rewarding experience. There is something really exhilarating about wanting to read more of the story while having to be the one to write it. Credit to the developers for not hiding in any way what this game is. Beating this game made me feel more accomplished than just about any other game I have ever played. You, the person behind the keyboard, are put to the ultimate test. The short story is also just phenomenal, props to whoever wrote it.
worst experience of my life. 10/10 would recommend
