This game has been a good experience... even though it's a mixed bag at the end of the day. The art direction is really good. There are some areas in this game that just look amazing. I'm not a graphics kind of guy, but I have to appreciate what this game achieved for a 2019 release built on a self-developed engine. The story has some cool parts but also some where you just have to endure the millennial-level writing. The SCP-adjacent ideas are cool but sometimes poorly executed. The Altered Objects and Objects of Power aren't scary overall, just quirky and weird, which in my opinion is a huge miss. The main story is rather interesting, even though it's somewhat confusing without diving into the wiki. There aren't that many side missions, with the ones that are there being rather interesting and unique. Fetch-type quests are scarce, but the ones that are there are done in passing. The Foundation DLC is good while the Alan Wake AWE DLC is boring. Some of the characters you meet in the game are just pure millennial cringe, trying to be funny or quirky every other line, and this is where the main problem comes in... The main character is one of them. Jesse is obnoxious at times with these bland, sanitized, emo internal monologues that do little to support the narrative. The combat has some strong points, like the abilities having real weight to them, from the masterful sound design to the great animations. But they are also my main point of contention. Half of them are just useless. Launch and Levitate are great and will be your bread and butter. Shield is situational and there is no real scenario where dodging and using Launch doesn't outright outclass it. Melee and Seize are both horrible, with Melee feeling weird to use and Seize having this awkward lock-in animation where you can't do anything but stand there looking at the enemy for a good 5 seconds, just for them to die 10 seconds after seizing. So what you will end up doing is Levitating while spamming Launch. The Service Weapon has maybe 2-3 modes that are good, with the others being totally useless. Charge, Surge and Shatter are solid while the others feel like you are shooting paper bullets that run dry after 0.2 seconds. The overall progression is okay. The randomized mods feel counterintuitive for a game like this and are annoying to sort through every 30 minutes when your inventory fills up again. The weapon upgrades are underwhelming and just add another mod slot. The skill tree is dull, consisting of 90% stat boosts, with some essential upgrades like Multilaunch frustratingly locked near the end. There isn't much freedom in progression overall and it just isn't exciting. But even though I was listing a lot of negative points, the game is still a net positive experience. I was having fun more often than not, even when the design was working against me. Hell... I even platinumed it, which was mostly done in passing but still took some extra time that I didn't really find tedious. Now that i finished Control i will have a look at the other Remedy games and probably give Alan Wake a shot... Alan Wake 1 base version that is, because Remastered and 2 are Epicgames exlusives that nobody will ever want to buy there. With the trailers for Control: Resonant looking really impressive already, I think you should give this game a shot in preparation for what could be a really great release later this year.
Control Review
Control is such a unique experience that it's hard for me to compare it to anything else. It's one of those games you have to play to truly appreciate just how well it's crafted. It starts off a little slow, but after a few missions you'll find it difficult to put down. I actually completed the game back in 2021 when it was given away for free on the Epic Games Store. At the time, I was playing on my old GTX 1650 laptop at around 30-40 FPS. Replaying it years later on my new PC with ray tracing and much smoother performance made me appreciate the game even more. It was just as enjoyable the second time around. If you enjoy SCP style stories, you're in for a treat. The world building, environments, foreshadowing, and depth of the lore are exceptionally well done some of the best I've experienced in a video game. I loved reading about an Object of Power or an Altered Item, only to later discover it locked away in the Panopticon or featured in a side mission. The game was a joy from start to finish, and the difficulty felt perfectly balanced. You're never too powerful or too weak, making every new ability and upgrade feel meaningful. The gameplay is polished, with highly destructible environments and satisfying abilities like telekinesis and levitation that become even more fun as you upgrade them. The Service Weapon has enough forms and mods to encourage different playstyles. The environments are so beautifully designed that my screenshot gallery is full of them. The last game that made me do this was Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The DLCs are absolutely worth playing. I wasn't a fan of the Jukebox Expeditions, but both The Foundation and AWE were fantastic. They answered so many questions while also laying the groundwork for what's coming next in the series. Many of Remedy's games are interconnected. Control, Alan Wake, and Quantum Break all share connections, making the Remedy universe even more fascinating. Overall, Control is a game I'd recommend everyone play at least once, especially if you're into supernatural mysteries, SCP-style lore, or games that reward exploration.

Performance Overview :
Initially, the game stuttered heavily for me. I even switched to DirectX 11, which was smoother but introduced its own bugs. I tried nearly every fix I could find online, but the one that actually solved the problem was surprisingly simple. > Set Windows Power Mode to Best Performance. The game also seems sensitive to overclocking/undervolting. Disabling my OC/UV improved my 0.1% lows.
NVIDIA App settings I used

DLSS Override – Model Presets: Recommended Control ships with an older DLSS model, and this noticeably improved image quality.
Low Latency Mode: Ultra Since the game doesn't support NVIDIA Reflex, this helped make gameplay feel smoother.
G-SYNC: On
V-Sync: On Enable it through the NVIDIA App instead of using the in-game V-Sync. I have a 280 Hz display, so V-Sync latency never became an issue while staying below my refresh rate. The G-SYNC + V-Sync combination felt incredibly smooth.

Graphics Settings
Display

Resolution: 2560×1440
DLSS: Balanced
V-Sync: Off (In-game)
Frame Cap: 60 FPS (RTSS + Front Edge Sync Async)
Graphics

Far Object Detail (LOD): Ultra
Texture Resolution: Medium High looked great at first, but once VRAM filled up the game started streaming blurry textures. Medium avoided this issue while still looking crisp. It fixes light leaking through doors and walls.)
Ray Tracing Sample Count: 1 (Increase if you have GPU headroom for a cleaner RT image.)
After these tweaks, the game was a fantastic experience. Highly recommended, Much Love <3
I honestly don't know where to start. I haven't really looked at other people's opinions because I wanted to finish the game first and form my own. These are simply my personal thoughts. When I first played Control back when it launched, I genuinely had no idea what was happening. The story felt confusing, and I ended up dropping it. Now, almost seven years later, I finally came back, finished it, and I'm really glad I did. Story The story is definitely one of those that expects you to pay attention. It doesn't hand you all the answers, and that's exactly what I ended up appreciating. Reading documents, watching the live-action videos, and slowly learning about the Federal Bureau of Control made the world feel incredibly unique. By the end, I found myself wanting to know even more about this universe rather than feeling frustrated by its mysteries. As someone who absolutely loves Alan Wake, I actually wish I had finished Control before playing Alan Wake 2. It made me appreciate how connected Remedy's universe really is. P.N:I don't want anyone to misunderstand me—these are simply my personal thoughts and opinions. I would never question or criticize someone for not enjoying the game, because everyone has different tastes. I just wanted to share how I felt after finally experiencing it. 𝓣𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓴 𝔂𝓸𝓾 to everyone who took the time to read my review. I truly appreciate it. ❤️
Control is one of those games that definitely isn't for everyone. Most people will probably bounce off it within the first couple of hours: vague storytelling, an abstract choice of words and themes, a very confusing setting, and the list of reasons to quit Control can continue on endlessly. But I stuck with it, and even 100%-ed this title. My thoughts and feelings regarding this game are… mixed, if I am being totally honest. Let’s start with the genre choice and storytelling. Everyone knows what vibe the Remedy Entertainment games have. Max Payne is a neo-noir psychological thriller. Alan Wake is the same but swap “neo-noir” with “survival horror," and Control is a supernatural thriller with the elements of FPS, metroidvania, and a couple of other genres. Sam Lake is at it again: Control doesn't rely on straightforward storytelling and instead throws a riddle at the player, which one must solve. It unfolds step by step in a surreal world that constantly changes its shape: lore-wise, practically nothing stays the same. Even the ending, instead of explaining the riddle mentioned before, is left rather ambiguous, suggesting the player connect the dots themselves, which leads to the different interpretations of the story itself, and there is no definitive answer to all the questions the story can raise. There is a negative side to all of this though. Huge chunks of lore and the story itself are explained through various notes, recordings, and other collectibles. Some of the notes’ text is plainly redacted, which, once again, makes it all very ambiguous. This is a type of game whose story expands heavily based on whether you examined every minor detail possible or just rushed through the story in order to finish the game ASAP. Also, the characters. Outside of Jesse and one particular lead-scientist, I honestly don't remember anyone else who would stand out. Every other character is being called a weirdo in one way or another by Jesse herself, which… says a lot, honestly. Regarding the gameplay, it’s decent, but not perfect. The main feature of the game is the interactable world. You can interact with almost everything to an extent of tearing concrete from the walls and throwing it into your enemies. You can pick up various projectors and TVs, and they will keep projecting the light and image to the surfaces you point them at. Some objects even have multiple destruction stages, and the list of interactivity features goes on. The level of environmental interaction is genuinely impressive. No one else could ever pull off this level of interaction which Control managed to do. At times even by the end of the game, I was amazed by the vast majority of details the in-game world has. The flipside? The world itself is very bland, bleak, and cold. I think the best word to describe all this is… liminal. Sometimes I felt some really uncanny pressure applying to me after playing for a couple of hours in a row: it felt like I was exploring an asylum of some sort. Endless corridors, very grim lighting with the colors like dark green and blue prevailing, very unsettling sound design, and the absence of music… The whole game feels like one giant liminal space. The game itself isn’t scary, but it sure can be unnerving. Not by the mobs’ design, not by some “artificial horror” (jumpscares and such), but by the world’s design itself. This is something you don’t see much in the gaming industry outside the horror genre. The graphics are decent, but there is a huge problem from the technical side: texture streaming is messed up tremendously. Seriously, without mods, the textures don’t load up properly, which makes the objects look blurry to the extent of you being able to count visible polygons on them. The dialogue cutscene direction is rather weird too. There is a nice gimmick of showing the inner monologues of Jesse during the talks, but the camera angles and animations are rather strange at times. Jesse can look at the person she is talking to at a very weird angle or experience a very weird, non-human-like facial animation. The gameplay is basically one-sided: all enemies are plain bullet sponges and can be brute-forced by Launch ability. The bosses? Even worse: some of them are even easier than Heavy enemies. The balancing by itself is all over the place. At first, you can blast through the enemies like the low-level fodders they are, and half an hour later you get blasted into oblivion by a group of the exact same enemies because the game decided to make them stronger and smarter and overwhelm the player with them. Speaking of the abilities mentioned before, you guessed it: 90% of them are useless. Once you level up the Launch, almost every other ability becomes obsolete. Some abilities result in Jesse’s quick death rather than getting rid of your enemies (Ground Slam). DLCs? They are seriously lacking: there are new locations and some story expansions, but not as much as you would expect. The AWE DLC is focused around Alan Wake and doesn’t even have a story; it felt like a compilation of easter eggs and vague lore implications of the in-game universe. The Foundation DLC? Well, the location itself is something new and is rather interesting, but it doesn’t serve justice to a lot of characters that were in the base game. Don’t want to cover much here because, once again, spoilers. Overall, it’s a very decent game: nothing more, nothing less. If you like mystic, cryptic, and confusing stories with a bunch of psychology sprinkled in — you have to give Control a chance. Get ready to be patient with all the aforementioned inconveniences, though. If not, and if you prefer something easier to comprehend (chill out after a very long day at work/university) — this game might not suit you at all.
Control is one the best game made by Remedy Entertainment so far! I've been looking forward to play this game since its release and so far, I had a fun and tough time to play this game. Somehow, the gameplay feels good and the combat really felt excellent. For some reason, If you having difficult playing the combat sequence, It might takes time until you can get used to it. Control of course is not just a best game, but also a masterpiece game ever by Remedy Entertainment
