CHRONO CROSS: THE RADICAL DREAMERS EDITION

I got this game several years after the inital relese. I dont know how bad the optimization was back then but the curent version never crashed on me so far and i'm experiencing pretty smooth framerate. I'm also playing the game on an older laptop runing windows 10 that is proably comparable to a Steam deck not my main gaming PC at home. As for the game itself. Its the same PS1 clasic whit some interstng ideas about progresion. You can probably find more in depth reviews about this game online. My review is solely for people who just want to play a PC port of a game they already know from long time ago.

-Parked someone's car at I.D parking lot. -Decided to campsite in the middle of the forest and setting up checkpoint flags along the way to campsite. -Asked Kyle around 2016ish if he remembered that "one time during our indian dune off-site camping trip" about... -He was the first to go lead the walk across the tree across the river. -Kyle mentioned he did not remember falling from tree when crossing the river when he catched himself like a monkey hanging on to the tree (at night returning back to parking lot) -could it be that's a different version of Kyle (like Schrodinger theory)? It's an "alternate" version Kyle (like Coherence/Chrono Cross. (Explain it in video games terms: Super Smash Bros alternate costume colors. Has his body, face, personality?, but different parallel version of him) -Kyle adamantly and confidently said he did not remember that moment even though it was a HUGE "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" moment for us walking behind him. -HOW THE ♥♥♥♥ DO YOU NOT REMEMBER ALMOST FALLING OFF THE TREE CROSSING A RIVER BED? -This happened around 2012-2014ish. I don't remember exactly when but it happened. I believe Christian, Angie, Niko, Raymond, was there but I'm not confident who else. FAVORITE QUOTE: MEMORY(AMBITION) IS A WH0RE. -ExoPrimal You only remember if those memories have major significance and meaning. TLDR: WE'RE ALL DEAD AND YOU'RE VERSIONS OF "YOUS" AREN'T MY VERSIONS OF WHO I KNOW. WHO THE ♥♥♥♥ ARE YOU "PEOPLE"?! That being said, welcome to the living dead of limbo's underground "paradiso" 10/10 masterpiece game.

Crash at the begining...

What can I say? I played it the first time it came out and loved it and bought it on PC when it came out on steam. I see some people have had issues with the game, I have not so I'm basing it on my own play time experience which has been good and for me worth the money. It may not be for everyone, but if you loved the old, Wild Arms, Legend of Dragoons....this is defiantly for you if you haven't played it yet.

Unplayable on Steam Deck OLED. Chrono Cross is a masterpiece, which makes it even more painful to see it treated this way. This remaster is not merely poorly optimized on Steam Deck: it is functionally unplayable. The game freezes every few minutes. The image and controls lock up while the music continues, forcing me to close the game and lose any unsaved progress. I have reinstalled it, verified the files, tried multiple Proton versions, both Classic and Remastered graphics, windowed and borderless modes, different resolutions, and several community workarounds. Nothing fixes the problem reliably. At this point, installing Chrono Cross on my Steam Deck feels about as useful as installing a rock on it. Calling this game “Steam Deck Verified” is completely unacceptable and seriously misleading. A masterpiece deserves better than a remaster that cannot even be played reliably.
