Cool idea but disappointing on everything it tries to do. Makes me regret my determination on finishing games. Glitches everywhere, everything is barely working and really janky, everything is as basic and unimpressive at everything, no consequence whatsoever to anything, just a billion auto-generated copy-pasted survival missions with careful no-fun-allowed builds and unpredictable difficulty spikes on top of jank. Multiplayer experience may save it but progression for MP is broken and forces obscene grind, so there's much better stuff around. Even nukes are disappointing. Even gigantic infestation spots are really just damage sponges. Even bosses are just move and shoot. To mentally endure a full campaign you have to degrade it by thinking of it as an ATTEMPT at a SURVIVORS-like game with XCOM progression and resource management. It's still bad though, because even the XCOM inspired stuff is poorly made. Too bad, first game looked like it attempted to scratch an itch that this one isn't even trying to scratch
honestly feels like a lazy mash up of several different games and does a pretty awful job. first red flag was the tutorial asking me if i want RTS controls or WASD. its a twin stick shooter, obviously i want WASD. and then the tutorial kept asking me to enable the auto play feature and not allowing me to move forward until i did. strike 1 and then there was the struggle of just playing with my friend who bought the game for me specifically so we could play together. i could not invite him to my game. i had to open my game to the public and pray that he could find me in the server browser. strike 2 first mission was pretty painless, worked well enough and i was getting the hang of the horrible controls and clunky movement. after that first mission my friend was kicked from the game and some random took his place. i kicked the random and waited for my friend to get back in to do the next mission. we tried that mission 2 times failing each time because the game never gave us an extraction point. after spending over an hour in that second mission i was done. that was my third strike. literally go play EDF, Alien Swarm, or xcom because all of those games will do what this game was trying to do a lot better. you want a B movie trash plot? go play EDF, you want similar gameplay? Alien Swarm, similar meta management systems? go play XCOM.
A very fun game, also a very durable game. An absolute masterpiece! Unfortunately, there are too many naive players.
Lots of co-op fun - played it for years
Too grindy, lack of content. Pretty cool in general though, decent mechanics, would be more fun with people however the game is mega past dead.
Single player is like Xcom base building and world progression wise with a real time top down shooter twin stick mode and a right click rpg style ability mode instead of turn based combat. Both modes change the gameplay quite a bit, I like the rpg mode for navigating the map and issuing AI squad orders and the shooter mode for actual combat. Instead of aliens and combating their invasion you are combating the infection and its spread, you take control of the map and scan areas to get your "Intel" of the area up in order to get higher quality missions and unltimately wipe the infection from that zone and work to keep it supressed by mainting that intel. Any actual battles take place in real time and you have a main objective to complete with side objectives that get you engineers, supplies or items. You can play the single player allowing people to drop in and assist which I like doing, few people play it anymore but every now and then when I replay the campaign I have had people join every now and then. Mutiplayer was interesting the few times I gave it a go but I mostly played the single player campaign. Its a nice blend of genres with a bit of a learning curve

it's a funny old bird tbf, looks like a twinstick, plays like... zombie extraction diablo, with guns and tanks. 7 players many classes and customising.
This is a great game made with love. The story is phenomenal. The Creators have added excellent DLCs and updates are regular and helpful. It is incredibly fun to play with friends and the gameplay is exciting and fun. I hope in a Red Solstice 3 to continue the Story. I highly recommend this game!
