About
Chaos Front is the latest game of the Chaos Galaxy series, which has been deeply influenced by Super Robot War, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Advance War, and other similar games.
The program, art, and design are all completed by one developer alone.
Please note: A bad ending will be triggered on 30/12/C.E.29 in the game. Please upgrade your mercenary group to star 9 before this date to begin the final battle and obtain the true endings.

Form your mercenary corps, move around the map of Centersea Sector, choose missions and join the war between the powers. Your choices will change the fate of people and the ending of the Centersea War.

Partners, enemies, friends ...... There are more than 100 important characters in the game, all with their own stories, identity talents and combat skills, such as commanders, staff officers, merchants, pirates, scientists ...... and even psychics, robots and aliens!

Battleships, submarines, mecha, artillery, fighters, titans ...... There are 70 available units in the game, all with different weapons and abilities.

Units can use a wide range of behaviors such as stealth, space mines, spreading fog, seizing, stealing, ramming, shelling, combating, shields, defensive force fields, and more. We can research the game system to create a powerful army with a variety of different play styles.

We can receive many missions with different story plots at the Mission Centers. It is also possible to participate in battles initiated by the big factions. When we become an ally of a faction, we can even make proposals to the faction to guide its strategic actions.

The Solaris Union, the first galaxy regime in human history, was destroyed due to corruption and tyranny during the Great Rebellion. After its fall, the galaxy was divided among three great powers. Unable to defeat each other, eventually, they agreed to a ceasefire and established the Interstellar Consortium to manage thousands of independent planets.
Unfortunately, the Interstellar Consortium soon became a tool for the three powers to control and exploit the galaxy. Interstellar navigation was restricted, and planets were subjected to economic exploitation.
In the 26th year of the Consortium Calendar, a revolution broke out on the planet Massilia in the Centersea Sector. The Consortium quickly decided to send fleets from the three powers to suppress the revolutionary planets. However, the Consortium Army was weakened due to the defection of the Black Flag, and the front line became a deadlock.
The great powers had to allow the Consortium Army to recruit mercenaries to supplement their forces in the war zone. The Revolutionary Army and the Black Flag also began recruiting mercenaries.
Militia, pirates, nobles, and technicians from all over the galaxy rushed to Centersea to join the war. Mercenary groups quickly became a main force in the Centersea warfare.
Under the temptation of wealth and honor, beneath the banner of revolution and freedom, and stirred by hegemony and conspiracy, the Galaxy was falling into a chaotic era...

I found this game to be an extremely enjoyable throwback to retro SRPG games, which is clearly what it's trying to emulate in both style and gameplay. I've played long enough to beat the game once with each of the two Mercenary Companies that you can choose from, each of which has some unique missions and unique pilots, ships, and arms. That being said, the gameplay loop is very similar no matter which one you pick. I think a lot people are judging this by comparison to games like Battle Brothers or War Tales and other mercenary simulators. This is not really that. This is an SRPG with the mercenary stuff being mostly just flavor. You mostly bounce from mission to mission, recruiting new pilots, growing your company into being able to take bigger and bigger jobs, until eventually, right around the time you exhaust all the unique mercenary contracts, the game launches into the endgame with a short series of large battles that send you towards one of the eight endings. There is technically a time limit, apparently it was two years at first, and is now three years. My first run I beat the game before the end of the two year mark, and the second run I finished a couple months into year three. I really don't find the time limit a big deal, it gives you plenty of time to do all your missions and experience plenty of content. The fun for me comes from slowly crafting your mercenary company and figuring out your unique strategy. There's a lot of ways you can set up your selection of ships and mechs, with squads focusing on melee, ranged combat, artillery, hit and run tactics, and so on. This is combined with a system of Traditions, permanent buffs you can obtain as you level your company up, and are unique to both companies you can play as. My first run I focused mostly on ranged attacks with high damage glass cannon types and a lot of artillery support, using spacing with the enemy to lure them into gun lines that would tear them apart. My second run I focused on heavily armored, very sturdy melee units in the front who would bait the enemy into charging their line, with a second group of high damage but more fragile melee units rushing out as soon as the enemy was pinned down. I found the gameplay loop really addicting and fun to play once I got into it. My overall recommendation is that if you like tactical combat, army composition, and retro-style SRPG gameplay, you'll probably really love this game. If you're into this mainly as a mercenary simulator like Battle Brothers or something similar, you'll be disappointed, as the mercenary aspects are mostly just a story excuse to get you from one tactical battle to another and explain why you buy you're own equipment. Overall, it's a thumbs up for me

Neat game, i would normally put more time before publishing a review however game is suffering from a time limit campaign that was left secret at the initial release which created some "backlash" I followed closely the developpement of the game as a fan of Chaos Galaxy which allow me to know what not except of the game. This game is not a "BattleBrothers" in space nor it is a "Mountandblade" one. Its TRPG which share more element with the Fire emblem franchise. The sandbox setting of the campaign let some players believe that the game would allow for an infinite campaign and a more sandbox care free world. Amateurs of the Chaos Galaxy franchise know that the dev like a challenge and if in CG2 it was the aliens invasions, here it seems players have a limited time to achieve an ending. Making a truly sandbox experience need tons of work to not make it repetitive, so i undertsand the philosophy behind it. The characters are not generic and you cannot sacrifice them like in BB. I still need to discover myself most of the game, so take this review for what it is but i feel like the game is suffering from an unfair treatment. A vague of people badly surprised by the discovery of the time limit left a ragequit-bad review even if they appreciated their time before. Im not here to discuss if the choice is inherently wrong or not, if you so care to know the dev have already published his opinion on the matter. I just wanted to tell people what this game is about. For now i really love the combat system which is in the direct lineage of the CG franchise the customisation of your squad with the mechs and pilots are really neat and i love the squad mechanics with the mech and ships. The limited time even it is not appreciated by many really force you to difficult choice between battle and missions because traveling as a cost. I really believe the mistake in the design was the communication to the player rather that the design in itself and i understand the pain of those who travel three times the sector for shopping not knowing the presence of this mechanic. For people who like the principle of the need of multiple playthrough to attain specific endings or to fill the collection of the game, i think you'll love this game. Its a shame that the game suffered from this because i would have love to see some extensions for others mercenary groups which i doubt would be possible with a commercial failure. Sorry for bad english I'll probbaly edit it when i would have achieved an ending but i have less time to play right now.
the first one of these games i actually like
A fun little tactical game. There are some minor gripes, largely with UI and some of the scripting, but entertaining enough to have me staying up late the first night. It's not especially deep, but for a game made by a single developer, it is impressive.
