Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.71/day in the week to Sep 14 → 3/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

What a phenomenal game. Seriously. I was blown away. I’d heard a lot of people sing the game’s praises but for some reason had never quite hit the purchase button. I think the mechs thing in the description put me off for a while as mechs aren’t usually to my taste (though in this game it was a proper hype moment when you unlocked yours!). Maaaaaaan I wish I’d played sooner. The game is amazing. The story is full of twists, even from the opening scenes it never goes quite how you think/hope. And seeing all these different people and groups all chasing what they think is the right path and clashing over it really draws you in. There’s just constantly something happening to the point I could barely put the game down. The very last twist in the ending was slightly disappointing but everything else the whole way through was great. The battle system was fun, with varieties on how you can set up your team. Although it was a little on the easy side since you fully recover after each battle. The reward board system was also good fun and I spent a lot of time focusing on that as I enjoy these side activities. Anyway tl;dr great game, highly recommend.

It's an ok game overall that needed some more polish across the board. I would soft-recommend it to someone who is a huge fan of classic RPGs. The on-foot combat drags on too long in general and lacks complexity. Levelling up in your sky armor requires raising your proficiency stat in various weapons, requiring a deal of grinding. There are a lot of skills that are underwhelming or just useless - Special call-out to Lenne's Third Eye skill: "Raises damage of the next move by 150% but lowers user's defense and mind by 25% until then", when you could just... use that turn attacking and do more damage with no downside. My biggest complaint against it is the huge amount of fullscreen white flashes on multiple attack animations. There is an accessibility option to turn off white flicker, but all it does is replace it with grey flashes instead. It's better, but still manages to cause me physical discomfort. DO NOT PLAY if you are photosensitive.
Clearly intended to be an epic JRPG opus, Chained Echoes’ widescreen ambitions are too often handicapped by smaller-scale design gaffes. Biggest positives: + Detailed worlds that feel like a maximalist expansion on the settings of the SNES-era JRPGs + Obviously a lot of thought put into the extensive world-building Other notes: - The overdrive system is poorly framed. You spend most of each fight in overdrive, so it stops feeling like a ‘special’ boost pretty early. The reward for being in overdrive is a manacost reduction, which feels like a relatively unexciting buff. - The protracted basic fights really stunt the game’s motion before it fully has a chance to take off Full review: https://toothbrush.blog/review/chained-echoes/
Came in by reading out good reviews, but after playing for a few, decided that this game is "not it" and agressively mid: 1) Start of story is rough. You get not much intro but your character acts like knows everything 2) Combat system is "plain"? 3) Full restore HP system after battle, but still have items that waste entire battle turn??? MAJOR PROBLEM FOR ME 4) If you go wrong fork on the road - you locked in cutscene with no way to check other road without reloading save file 5) Millenial writing with "current political ideologies" 6) Music kinda not matches what is going on the screen MAYBE it's game that "Gets better 20 hours in!", but no. I'll pass.
I can't go on with this game anymore. The story is just too slow and the characters are truly uninteresting. The writing in this game is just horrible. The story does not do a good job of getting the player invested in the individual characters and their stories. I am 10+ hours in and we still have not reached our first destination. I don't even have my sky armor yet. The pixel world is nice but the sprites are basic and character portraits are bland. The combat is a slog. It is not fun. The overdrive system is bad. You take more damage and do less damage when you are in the red and you have to defend a lot of the times to cool down the meter to get out of the red zone and back in the green. When the enemy attacks you it puts your further towards the red zone. I realized I was done with this game when I was fighting a pack of alpha wolves that could self heal and I was in overdrive and every time I would hit or do a move it would put me in the red, the wolf would just self heal each turn and because I was in the red I could not do enough damage to counteract the self healing by the wolf. I literally could not kill the wolf because it would just spam heal itself each turn and its healing output was higher than my damage output. I had to close the game and reload another save. Also the normal enemies (I'm not just talking about bosses) are bullet sponges and every battle takes 3 to 4+ turns to complete. Horrible combat design. I just don't want to put 40+ hours into this game when there are so many other pixel games out there to play. Uninstalled.
When you take off the nostalgia glasses and look back at classic JRPGs, many of them have glaring problems, ranging from poorly balanced combat to mechanics that simply do not work as intended. Chained Echoes aims to be a classic 16-bit JRPG in its own right, but despite being developed by a single person, it benefits from decades of progress in game design to deliver an experience without any of those shortcomings. Chained Echoes' experience is strongest in its complex combat system. It's unique, well thought-out and surprisingly well-balanced. It throws you into a wide variety of situations you'll have to puzzle-solve your way out of using the large selection of tools it gives you. This is not a game where you can press attack and win, or grind until you're overpowered. It can feel a little overwhelming at times, but it's a very rewarding experience that is especially impressive coming from a single developer. The combat may be the best part of this game, but that doesn't mean the rest of the experience is anything short of captivating. Chained Echoes has a huge world to explore, full of beautiful locations. The art style is pretty classic, but the way it's used and the amount of details put into environments is superior to what you'd typically see. The soundtrack is beautiful and though it may not have super memorable bangers, it is very good nonetheless. All great RPGs have deep narratives and Chained Echoes certainly lives up to that expectation. It checks all the boxes; great characters and character development, strong themes, great world-building, unexpected twists and turns, emotional moments and on and on. It may not be on the level of life-changing stories from other classics, but it is still great enough that I struggle to find anything bad to say about it. This game is of an exceptional value for the price. I wouldn't recommend this as a first-time RPG, but if you're a fan of the genre and haven't played this, you're missing out.
