I purchased this game in 2024, I cannot play it because i have lost access to my Ubisoft account since then, despite purchasing the game on Steam i can no longer play my game. This is why Steam has such a monopoly on the gaming pc market because of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ services like this.
Refunded. Everyone should avoid ubisoft products. The connect launcher AUTOMATICALLY associated this game with an old lost account due to linking issues. I pray they do not have the audacity to reply with "Sorry for that! Please get in touch!" I did. A waste of time. If you have lost your email, you've lost your games on steam. AVOID.
A phenomenal metroidvania that unfortunately didn't allow its studio to remain active. This game is genuinely above what Ubisoft typically outputs, it has good platforming, good action, and the Simurgh powers allow for further creative platforming. The map is pretty large, but it doesn't feel exhausting to explore. One big thing that helps exploration is that the game has a "screenshot" mechanic where on your map you can mark a screenshot of where you were at that moment with a button press and its a good marker for when you see a mechanic or symbol you're unfamiliar with and can refer back to it later when you gain powers. I haven't finished the DLC yet, and I finished the story with a few collectibles remaining at 85% completion. There's also challenge platforming and battle mini-sections as well that are really skill expressive. I just wish this studio would've been able to carry this further but such is a sad tale.
I will never buy an Ubisoft game again. It doesn't support Steam Cloud because they want you to use Ubisoft Connect to upload cloud saves manually, which makes playing between the Steam Deck and my PC a CHORE! Why don't you go Sargon deez nuts?!
Ubisoft connect
This is one of the games that totally blew my expectations.. The game is absolute perfection & my first entry to the Metroidvania genre, haven't had this much fun playing a game in a good while.. I totally recommend this game even though it is from Ubisoft, a studio known for producing the worst games in the past decade, to my surprise this is the complete opposite.
No need to play much more to know a great game behind the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ publisher ever. One of the few games that made my Deck crash, bug out and overly feel sluggish due to the Ubisoft overlay, which no one uses and no one wants in their game. Not only that, apparently this idiotic company decided to disable Steam Cloud Saves for their games, and in its place, use their own god awful cloud save system that you have to MANUALLY TURN ON and that doesn't even work on the Deck, so I lost all my progress for no other reason other than utter incompetence from the greediest company on the planet. There's a reason people use Steam and not your terrible launcher. I'm glad I got this game because there clearly was some passion here, unlike 99% of the trash Ubisoft puts out that merely exists for quarterly earnings reasons. ♥♥♥♥ Ubisoft.
I just can't seem to get the ubisoft connect launcher to connect. Looking through other reviews where developers seem to suggest going through elaborate steps to even get the game to launch then this certainly won't be bothered. As usual ubisoft making it hard for people that actually pay for their games to play them, let's get this refunded.
It is a classic Metroidvania type game. The controls are tight. As a bonus you can set the voice to Persian (Farsi) with English subtitles. A rare gem.
This is simply one of the greatest Metroidvanias ever created. It actually might BE the best. I pirated the Switch version and felt compelled to re-beat it on Steam. It has a brilliant combo-juggling combat system and "big-boy" platforming, i.e. the kind of platforming for men that still get TURGID. There's no boss runbacks because the game respects your time as a grownup, unlike the Hollow Knight series (which I've also beaten). Unlike Hollow Knight it also doesn't have the aesthetics of a chinese cartoon flash game from Newgrounds. If you're like me and you possess enough major league hand dexterity to do no-hit runs of Ninja Gaiden (NES) - then this is the game for you. And like me, if you still print in your church slacks from an autumn breeze and have a girlfriend who is at least a decade away from perimenopause let alone full blown menopause (+ under 135lbs) - then you're gonna enjoy the tight responsiveness of this platforming. I guarantee it idiot. In summation, even if it might be one of the best Metroidvanias it's still only the third best Prince of Persia game, behind Prince of Persia (1989), and Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame (1993).
