Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

Caves of Qud is a Hugo Award-winning science fantasy roguelike epic steeped in retrofuturism, deep simulation, and swathes of sentient plants. Come inhabit a living, breathing world and chisel through layers of thousand-year-old civilizations. Decide: is it a dying earth, or is it on the verge of rebirth?

Do anything and everything. Caves of Qud is a deeply simulated, biologically diverse, richly cultured world.
DEEP PHYSICAL SIMULATION — Don’t like the wall blocking your way? Dig through it with a pickaxe, or eat through it with your corrosive gas mutation, or melt it to lava. Yes, every wall has a melting point.
FULLY SIMULATED CREATURES — Every monster and NPC is as fully simulated as the player. That means they have levels, skills, equipment, faction allegiances, and body parts. So if you have a mutation that lets you, say, psionically dominate a spider, you can traipse through the world as a spider, laying webs and eating things.
DYNAMIC FACTION SYSTEM — Pursue allegiances with over 70 factions: apes, crabs, trees, robots, and highly entropic beings, just to name a few.
RICHLY DETAILED SCIENCE FANTASY SETTING — Over fifteen years of worldbuilding have led to a rich, weird, labyrinthine, one-of-a-kind storyworld, layered on top of the simulation, all for you to explore. Live and drink, friend.
TACTICAL GAMEPLAY — Turn-based, sandbox exploration and combat offers as many solutions as you and your mutations, implants, artifacts, and skills are creative enough to invent.
RPG ELEMENTS — Quests, NPCs, villages, historic sites; some dynamic and some handwritten, interwoven to produce a transportative RPG experience.
ATMOSPHERIC ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK — Over two hours of otherworldly music to delve to.

Caves of Qud has one of the most expressive character creators of all time.
Play the role of a mutant indigenous to the salt-spangled dunes and jungles of Qud, or play a true kin descendant from one of the few remaining eco-domes — the toxic arboreta of Ekuemekiyye, the ice-sheathed arcology of Ibul, or the crustal mortars of Yawningmoon.
Build your character out of:
Over 70 mutations — outfit yourself with wings, two heads, four arms, flaming hands, teleportation, the power to clone yourself…
Dozens of cybernetic implants (and more to find as treasure) — night vision, translucent skin, carbide fists, spring-loaded ankle tendons…
24 castes and kits from across the social order of Qud and beyond Moghra’yi, the Great Salt Desert
Too overwhelmed to build a character from scratch? Choose one of 9 preset characters and start your adventure right away. Then return to character creation when you are ready.

Play one of four modes:
CLASSIC — Like other traditional roguelikes, this mode has permadeath, meaning you lose your character when you die. Extremely challenging even for experts.
ROLEPLAY — Play it like an RPG. Save your progress at checkpoints located in settlements.
WANDER — Focus on exploration. Most creatures will not attack you, you don’t gain experience by killing, but you DO gain experience by discovering new locations and treating with legendary creatures.
DAILY — One chance with a fixed character and world seed. How long will you survive?

After 9 years of continuous development and frequent updates, Caves of Qud has finally reached its 1.0 release! Here are some highlights of what's been added for 1.0:
The last leg of the main quest
The new, fully graphical UI
Hundreds of visual & sound effects
Lots of polish & stability

Caves of Qud is a project of epic proportions that's been in development for over fifteen years, since 2007. It began as the science fantasy roguelike dream of co-creators Jason Grinblat and Brian Bucklew, who released the first beta in 2010. Since then, it's accrued a few more contributors who have enriched the project by helping to add visual effects, sound effects, an original soundtrack, a new UI, new game systems, new lore, and half a world of content. Caves of Qud has grown into a wild garden of emergent narrative, where a handwritten story weaves a path through rich physical, social, and historical simulations. The result is a hybrid handcrafted and procedurally-generated world that's alive in a way few games are.

The lore depth to this game is insane. Extremely fun if this is your kind of game. Complex character builds, almost zero guidance on how to play/where to go. Very much; here's a fishing rod. Catch a fish.
There's so much poetry to this game. I'm not talking about the prose which sure is nice. Rather, the vibe and the setting is just beautiful. It's true Fantasy. The game is very polished (especially for a true rogue like) and the soundtrack is amazing. Control are very accessible too (again, for a true rogue like). It is very sandboxy yet have a solid main quest. The replayability is great considering the variety of tinkerable gear, and mutations and due to other emergent factors. If playing a Mutant, know that the very large majority of mutations can be very good in some way. So play whatever. I've found that when playing as a True Kin, the cybernetics variety is a bit underwhelming. Or rather it's that they often don't do things as cool as mutations (with a few exception). That doesn't mean True Kins are weak. And as I said before there are other factors that will make every run interesting, wether you play Mutant or True Kin. Some systems are maybe not pushed to their fullest design potential. Liquids for example. But everythings works, is interesting and has a some use. But man, there are so much cool things in this game. The creature/encounter design is top notch. Game runs smooth as butter on my laptop. Overall, what i want to convey is that this is a BIG polished game and it's incredibly unique. It's true that the Rogue DNA might not be for everyone, but I think a lot of open-world RPG fans can enjoy this one.

I like this game a lot, but it does not really play like modern games nowadays. I have not really played many other games in the genre, but I assume that this game does have some modern conveniences that others in the genre don't have, and it's art, while simplistic, becomes very compelling with a touch of imagination. This is largely thanks to its extremely good writing and worldbuilding. The game is definitely what you make of it, when starting out it can feel pretty much impossible to get far at all in classic mode, but with proper knowledge and caution the game is actually very winnable, to the extent that it really takes self-imposed challenges/roleplaying to continue to have fun and not repeat similar steps each playthrough. I would recommend new players stay away from in-depth wiki dives when starting out and stick to maybe just watching basic tutorials if anything. If I could wish for anything to change in future updates, I would like more variety across playthroughs, maybe alternate main storylines or more special items being created during world generation. Obviously, this does not become an issue until you are hundreds of hours in, and I think that it speaks to the quality of the game in that I just want more of it. I think that the next thing for me to experiment with is mods, which the game offers robust support for. All this is to say, I like this game a lot. It is certainly not for everyone, but I have enjoyed my time with it and am almost certain that I will continue to. If it seems like the kind of game that you would be interested in, I recommend giving it a shot, the game is well worth it. Live and drink, future water-sibs.
Very cool and weird
This game runs on imagination, experimentation, and patience. To really appreciate it, you have to get your character leveled and kitted out. The versatility and exploration is unbelievably vast, constantly pushing the player's creativity above and beyond. I find myself coming back again and again, as this game is an unbelievably immersive time sink. If you have a curious mind, Joppa awaits friend. Live and drink.
I have been playing this game literally on and off for years. Its the best Rogue Like (whatever the term is) I've ever played. Its also a wonderful tribute to Gamma World from 2nd Edition AD&D. That is one aspect that has kept my attention. I played the Gamma World campaign setting when I was a teenager and hadn't been able to find anything quite like it. I haven't beaten the main story line in the game yet. This was partly due to pre-stable 1.0 development cycles invalidating saves. Which is fine. I didn't even really care. I never had enough time to do a full play through due to life circumstances. It didn't even matter in the end. The randomly generated world, the infinite numbers of ways a character could be developed, and skilled translation of the world is all I needed. I also am visually impaired. The graphics are clear and simple. It took some adjustment, but I also have played text games since the 80s. ASCII are was a huge part of those games. With how flashy and intense modern titles are, this was a welcome alternative. I enjoy that classic look and feel this game is an excellent tribute to the style. I don't have anything negative to say. If you had experience with or love for personal computer games from the 80s, this is at least worth a try. The replay value is also very high. I have recommended this game for years and will continue doing so.
