This cheap game is better than games that I paid $30 or more for! Nice little gem. Easy to understand and fun.
Simply put, lots of fun in a lite breazy dungen crawler. My only 2 grips are the brown curser needs more contrast from the mostly brown playfield, and when you set the sound level the game does not remember the sound settings from one game to the next.
I want to like this game so badly. It checks every box for me from dnd style to roguelike, but I cant bring myself to do more then 2 or 3 floors at a time. If your character had a basic attack for one dmg that didnt deteriorate it would fix so many problems with the pacing and progression but as it stands all you get is 3 cards which can be anything from attacks to support to defense and if you have one of each you can easily run out of attacks on a mini boss with 20 hp who summons minions with another 5 each. I hope that Im just wrong and at floor 2-1 you get a basic attack and Ive just never made it that far but as it stands I cannot suggest this game to any player of any sort of game.
I haven't much experience with Board Games, but very much reminds me of the "Legend of Drizzt" board game; explore tiles, kill enemies, get loot, defeat the boss, repeat. Fun little game that encourages exploration and seeing everything. You have three cards you can choose from during your turn, and overusing a card will cause it to break. It's a great little mechanic that keeps you from grabbing one overpowered card and just using it the whole time. In addition, you get equipment cards to raise defense, and you have traits that will work for and against you. Unlocking them requires gems, which you obtain from exploring. Overall, really fun little game, and certainly worth the price.
Doesn't work on Windows 11, despite Compatibility Mode attempts. Sad, wanted to revisit it recently and discovered that nasty fact.
Card Dungeon is a virtual board game in which the player navigates a series of dungeons killing monsters and collecting treasures. Good points: + Nice, neat graphical style with varied dungeon graphics. + Smooth and (at least on my play-through) bug-free. + Music is simple, but fun and non-intrusive. + Cheap (particularly if you pick it up in a Sale) Bad points - Way too easy (completed everything and collected enough gems to unlock everything on my first proper game). - Totally linear and lacking any secrets or similar (at least that I found) - Becomes a bit repetitive. - No replay value. Overall I would (just about) recommend it, if you are looking for a cheap and simple game to waste a few hours without taxing your brain. Not likely to present much of a challenge to adult players however and you'll be unlikely to touch it again once you have played it through.
TL;DR: Refunded. Core of a good game, but practically plagiarized. Half-assed quality wastes any potential. A blatant copy of Card Hunter. It was obvious the second I saw the game's logo, not even the graphics. But the game's visual style is clearly lifted, as well as several interface elements. The game's rules and the way they are presented in the UI are very similar. That's not a crime, but it makes it impossible not to compare the two mentally. And in that light, this is simply a pared-down and much lower quality version of CH. Of course the dev will deny it, why would they invite legal liability? - This is a minimalistic classical roguelike. It is not a card game. There are cards, but you don't shuffle or discard or draw them, or do anything cardlike, so... they're not cards. They're just slotted powers. They also deplete, but there doesn't seem to be any way to find out how many uses you have left. Doesn't sound like a fun mechanic, so I'm not exactly excited at the prospect of a power disappearing mid-combat without having any clue when it's going to happen. - Enemy AI is nonexistent. Cast the incredibly overpowered spell that turns a 3x3 grid into lava, then run around a corner. Your enemies will chase you onto the lava, and sometimes even stop moving once they're in the lava, until they die, predictably. Who knows if it's just this one spell, but I don't owe you the time to find out, sorry! - For copying a game with a fantastic UI, this game falls flat on its face. A lot of information is completely hidden or presented in an asinine fashion. - Doesn't respect your time. I have to watch the animation for the wildlife stepping into what seems to be a "healing trap" every turn between my moves? I get to hop over to investigate item drops using an obnoxious movement system, only to find that I found a "Pile of Nothing" again? Just very amateurish all throughout. - Maps are completely uninteresting. This looks like the same dungeon generation algorithm you've been seeing since Rogue was published in 1980. A room might have a table or a patch of mushrooms, or a barrel, and they usually do. And a party of monsters from the monster pool for that level. In fact every room feels exactly the same. I liked it at first. At the end, I kind of felt insulted. If you have the gall to copy a game to this degree, then at least release a game that has some *added* elements. This is just Card Hunter minus a lot.
May be it's nostalgia, but i was playing that kind of games 30 years ago but as a board game of course ! But this think is horrible ! Ok, playing dungeon as a warrior, but where is my sword ? Need to use st...id cards like a mage to fight ? Almost die cause attack cards will broken, and just takes damage and do nothing... :( Chests and others give me almost craps or stoopid potions that i can't store !!!! When you rotate screen, stats disappear ! Many bugs, killed a spider that never disappeared... At least give us just basic damage, same for those poor merchant... Sure, spend lot of time too create this game, but sure will be my last spend of time with this no game ! :(
Played about an hour so far and it's quite fun. Easily worth $9 imho. Love the art and there is defintiely some strategy as you need to think before passing up cards. Some don't like the deterioration of the cards as you use them, but I think it's a neat way to show wear and when you are getting close to losing it. I don't want the game to tell me everything up front. Very addictive game! Can't wait to see what else they add!
