Bubsy: Paws on Fire!

Ain't no way it should be twenty five bucks unless it's longer than i think it is.. but it is the best put together bubsy game, so it's got that going for it. call it an 'accolade'. sorry

Engine really not polished; Gameplay meh

Uno speedrunner automatico non male, ma a volte è davvero frustrante ed è facile morire spesso. Si può arrivare al boss finale senza dover necessariamente prendere tutte le medaglie. Scegliere tra altri personaggi oltre Bubsy da una certa varietà al gioco. Nota decisamente dolente è la scrittura del protagonista, reso davvero insopportabile. Carina la possibilità di sbloccare i costumi, anche se prendere le diverse valute non è sempre facile. Un gioco consigliato a chi vuole un semplice passatempo, dato che può essere completato in poche ore.

This takes the rhythm gameplay of Runner3, but puts it into 4 separate characters, tones down the rhythm element, and makes things far easier. What you get is not BAD, in fact the harder levels are great - but it can get pretty repetitive at points.

The worst thing about these modern Bubsy games is that they only fluxuate between being kinda bad and boringly competent rather than the horrendous assault on the senses that the original games were or even daring to be good. The self aware edge of these new games don’t work because they aren’t good enough for it to be endearing or bad enough for it to be funny, so it just comes off as insincere, which for all their faults the original Bubsy games were anything but. Calling yourself dated and washed out doesn’t work when everything about the game still feels dated and washed out, doubly so since this is the second new Bubsy game we’ve gotten to do this and as I write this there’s [url= https://store.steampowered.com/app/3237970/Bubsy_4D/] a third one on the way.[/url] If Atari absolutely must continue to resurrect Bubsy like this and leech off the success of all the early 2010s YouTubers got from beating the dead bobcat, they need to do something new to justify Bubsy’s existence. I only bring this up because, like I said, there’s another one of these games on the horizon and it looks like it actually might acknowledge this. Worth noting is that the very act of making fun of Bubsy has become dated in its own right—all of the most popular YouTube videos taking the piss out of Bubsy 3D are close to a decade old at this point and that stream of content has slowed to a crawl. Normally I can’t stand overly meta storytelling in games (especially platformers), but Bubsy feels like the one character who would benefit from it because his post mortem reputation is inherently very meta. I can only hope that Bubsy 4D goes all out with it and actually has some larger statement about the series and so-bad-it’s-good media as a whole rather than just going “erm, Mario, amiright?” and “Bubsy 3D suuuuure was bad, remember?” which is unfortunately the energy that this game is stuck with.
