Genre
Ein First Person Point & Click Adventure
Story
Very Easy Low budget game with Good story. Well, as I try to critisize this game we have to start like this.. It is a low budget game from a company that uses to publish low budget games in general so... In graphics the things are like a little older from the starting 3D games. At least you'll see curves. The sketches are allright and the photos very good. The game does NOT support widescreen resolutions and actually NOT HD quality. Moving around is in good motion, not perfect but good and now the actions are common to the most adventure games, like things taking etc. Few videos will be seen and their quality is very low even for the of 2010 year that Steam published it. But anyway it's an adventure. The sounds and music are good. At least they used a studio for making it. It is not the greatest quality in music but still sounds good and it matches in the scenes. Though you'll see sometimes a little bit time difference between music and motion or the dialogues. Always remember that is very low budget game. The story plot is good but NOT for children or early teens. You should try this game as older. It is a very short game that in solving time I would compare it to the Blackwell series, still not to their complexity and better story plot. It is a very interesting story that includes themes like what about the soul afterlife, egyptian prophecies and rituals covered by classic mystery of a detective's investigation through a murder case. Really interesting and the only thing that will keep you playing this game because... The riddles are very simple and the things to take and use from the scenes the ONLY interaction. You'll not get frustrated by this game. It's very easy. It's just someone tells you the story but to learn it simply interact with it like asking the questions how things happened. So... If you want some free time listening to a story to clear your mind or take it easy this will be a great escape. BUT if you want more from a game of this kind(at least in the riddles thing and complexity) don't even think to buy it. I am an adventure fan that I play games depending of my mood so... I found it like reading a lite book. I hope I was helpful!
Super short, expect about 2 hours of gameplay. Unispired puzzles, mediocre graphics and cliche story. Probably not worth your time unless you are an avid fan of adventure games and the game is on sale, even then you may be disappointed.
An interesting storyline, but really there is no challenge to this game. It was over way too quickly.. oh, and the 20 hours I have against it is merely because I left it open one night.. in reality you will finish this within a couple of hours
Game does not work in Windows 10; also it's so convoluted it's not worth trying. [edit] As of August 2023 the game works now, run it in Casual/Remastered mode. It actually looks pretty good. It's basic for a P&C Adventure Game, but I appreciate the developer's efforts in fixing the issues.
From the beginning it's impossible not to noticed that the dialogue is atrocious. Not sure if it's a translation thing but our heroine says strange things. Every time she pulls off a task, she will congratulate herself and say things like, "I did that flawlessly. I should get a medal because I'm so great at everything!" Not even exaggerating here. Actual dialogue. Later when asked to be someone's friend she replies, "well you don't seem like an evil bastard." Huh? Who talks like that? The voice acting (what little there is) sounds like the developers saw a hot chick pass by the office and pulled her in to play the lead character. She has absolutely no emotion or inflection on her voice and sounds annoyed to have to do this. Speak into a microphone? Sigh, OK! Most of the dialogue is text only without any voices or narration. This game was clearly done on the cheap and they ran out of money to pay that hot chick for more than the opening cut scenes. Or maybe she just got tired of them drooling over her. Aside from the horrid dialogue, the storyline is so dumbed down as to be insulting. Our heroine walks into the middle of a crime scene with miles of police tape across it. All she does is lift up a pillow and finds a digital camera with exactly ONE photo on it, that somehow the police missed? I'm sorry but this takes lazy writing to a whole new stratosphere. Don't the developers trust us to actually looks over, under, sideways, down? Guess not because there's even a built in walkthrough that's available at the click of a button in case you get stuck. It's pretty difficult to get stuck because the game is VERY linear. They only want us in certain places at certain times. You might be able to look at pile of boxes, but not pick them up. Two minutes later suddenly the hand icon appears and you can open them. That's because they don't want us to miss any of their hard work. They spent an entire weekend on this masterpiece and they'll be damned if some careless gamer is going to miss even one bit of their hard work! Just make sure you double check everything you've already looked at so you don't miss anything. Each location only has a few active hotspots. You will cover the same ground multiple times (it's called Hotel and you pretty much stay in the hotel). Each time you enter a room, there will be a new hotspot or active area and it's pretty easy to figure out what to do. Storyline doesn't make a lot of sense (not unusual for adventure games). An NYPD detective with a flair for the paranormal is on vacation in France and is sent to a hotel to investigate a stolen necklace. The French cops don't want her there and had no idea she was coming. Not only is she way out of her jurisdiction, but she was lied to by her boss for some reason who told her she was there for a joint investigation. Of course the French detective is a jerk and misuses American idioms like, "whatever rocks your boat." After playing the Iranian "Murder in Tehran" games, I can handle poor translations so not a huge deal. Of course there are also funny little elements with the inventory. Our heroine shoves a ladder and a wheeled pallet jack in her pocket without so much as a backward glance. Hard to imagine where she put in in those skin tight jeans. The controls and gameplay are pretty good. You can hit spacebar to make your character walk fast (and she actually walks pretty fast, not that shambling lope that we get in so many other games). You can hit enter to have hotspots show up briefly on screen. You click to interact with things (as it should be) so there's no convoluted controls like some game companies have decided were cool (I'm talking to you Benoit Sokal from "Syberia"). You double click items in your inventory to interact with them which makes for very easy gameplay. And the best part is you can click to skip cutscenes and speed up dialogues. Game has pros and cons, but maybe will improve with time. I've heard it's short so if you can get it cheap enough, it might be a good game to play in between some of your more lengthy or difficult adventures.
Ruined by the lack of voice acting. Really couldn't recommend as a result.
I think the mixed reviews are people who are confused, this game is 15 years old originally, and this is a remastered & og collectors edition. Someone such as myself who bought this when it first came out on disk back in 2010 I believe. I still have the original disk and I can always appreciate a remastered on a game I had good memories with. If there is one thing I would complain about, would be having all the 3d models stripped from the remastered version is sad, they are replaced with pre-rendered images, I would have rather had seen the game with higher quality models, textures and animations instead of pre-rendered images.
Great game, good story, graphics, I like its short and not boring like other adventure games. Puzzles are very intuitive and don't need to cheat with finding solutions online.
