I'm reviewing Steam games in Alphabetical order, and you can watch my review here: https://youtu.be/WrTEqTBjqWY Prefer to read? -SPROUT- is a retro-styled precision platformer that draws heavy inspiration from Celeste Classic. Every level is a single screen and takes seconds to complete, but the variety of mechanics and clever level design, combined with extremely solid controls makes for an incredibly enjoyable experience from start to finish. The game is designed with speed-running in mind and will automatically track your time through each of the 5 zones and 100 levels. The icing on the cake is the wonderful music by Failpositive. -SPROUT- is a short experience, but if you love fast paced platformers like Celeste and Super Meatboy, you'll enjoy every minute of it.
Fun precision platformer! I needed a little under 5 hours to 100% everything. There are 5 stages in total -- each one with a couple dozen screens or so. It's one of those games where you die a lot until you develop a consistent strategy for each screen, and then it's just a matter of execution. If you're into speedrunning and tricky platforming, give this a shot.
Sprout is a platformer speedrunner’s delight. This was a game made for speedrunners, and I’m not assuming anything there, it legitimately is. It’s basically PICO-8 Celeste, but with more ideas, polish, and general time and thought (this is not a dig at PICO-8 Celeste in any way lol). Overall, the game is pretty dang short, but there’s achievements to go for which are pretty hard, at least for me. The game is meant to be speedran mostly though. Does it at least do that well? Hell yeah, obviously. First of all, there are some speedrun achievements to encourage speedrunning, because again, that’s the core of the game. The speedrunning scene is somewhat active, and could probably benefit from some new blood. If you like short speedruns with lots of sick tech, this is for you. The community would also definitely help you, lift you up, and support you! The official discord: https://discord.gg/BRaNU7b. Also, hey, it’s pretty cheap, easily worth it. Objective: 7/10; Subjective: 7/10;
What is this, a platformer for ants?
Bastante entretenido, difícil de completar al 100% de logros, debes completar cada mundo con sus coleccionables, speedrun de 2 minutos y no morir en los 20 niveles de cada mapa. Buena suerte, dependerá de su habilidad de juego y paciencia. 8.4/10.0.
Nice graphics, routing is mostly clever, physics is fine, bit finicky here and there with the inertia, missed collectibles sometimes require a full restart which gets old, time trial chievos are a nice endgame challange, didn't go for these, they need near-perfect routes. Good ideas all around, looking forward to the next game.
Super short platformer with tight controls and nice variations.
This game was really fun! Its very well polished and a very streamlined experience. I really loved areas 3 and 4. It's certainly worth the price and I will definitely head back to it to try the achievements!
To put it simply, Sprout is a very focused game. It is a very minimalist platformer that has been distilled to give you a pure platforming experience perfect for speedrunning and those that like to challenge themselves. It's a short game but the replayability comes from the want to master each level. You know what you're in for when you play Sprout - a mini platforming puzzle with no frills attached. The graphics, music, presentation, and juice is all there (I'm a big fan of the visuals and how the game is presented.) but you can tell it is a game that strips down the unnecessary to provide a pure lesson in platforming and game design. It's good at what it does. It's precise, simple and it is easy to want to run each mini level again and again to get a better time/score. The leaderboards are a great incentive to want to strive for the number one position. If only I wasn't so bad at platformers.
NT$ 11 (-91% off)
