About
Once upon a time, the world was saved by the Brigandine.
This arcane armor, forged by the great sorcerer Lunadea, brought an end to the ambitions of the Abyssloa Empire.
200 years have since passed, and the continent’s current greatest superpower, the Kingdom of Solginat, has grown into a disquieting presence. In response, the rulers of various nations, spearheaded by the queen of Mysteine—a realm that carries on Lunadea’s will—gather together to issue a formal denunciation…

I went in to this game with rose colored glasses like many other long time fans of the Bringadine games. I, however, was also delighted to see NIS was making a Brignadine game. That aside, this game did not deliver exactly what I was expecting. There are some changes that were a hard adjustment and some that could even need addressing in patches. The game itself plays well though. It fixed some complaints I had about Runersia while introducing some of its own issues. The key complaints are needing items from quests for everything to get to rank 3. Its unnecessary and quests have never really been a huge hit with me even back to The Legend of Forsena. Forsena had the unique benefit of a fun music change with pictures and story that felt good in that game. Runersia tried to mimic this and didnt hit it well to me personally. The other main issue for me is there is no straight up skirmish type mode. Just let me pick a few of the many kingdoms, give them all a few bases, and let us duke it out. Also just remove preferred quest types and reward types. It felt bad in Runersia and doesn't feel good here. Just let me send out knights and them bring back fat loot or more knights. Even Forsena didn't do this well. You could have a unit ready to promote for the first time in 20 playthroughs and not be able to get the item for it. It feels bad, simple as that. While all knights starting at level 1 is a fresh feeling and I could take it or leave it, there is no fun to be had since almost all knight lines are linear. Give me at least a few branches to experiment. I never did cross classing, but this system feels so off putting in a weird way even though it gives me the simplicity I like. There was also something about seeing faces like Cador or Grados on the battlefield when you are far too low level and that feeling of terror of "How am I going to deal with this?" is gone. All of the negativity aside, at its core, this game still feels and plays like a Brigandine game to me. You get to summon your monsters, form your teams, and just go at it. In another odd twist, the simplicity is also good. The time limits in the story mode really light a fire under you to actually do something instead of slow grind until you can mop the floor with everything because they have no mana and no threats left. Even the weaker units feel like they have use. If you've lost a high value unit to 7 mermaids blasting it down with spells, you know. The summon variety at each base could use some improvement, but that's another thing that's kind of whatever. Despite its flaws and surprise to my expectations, I still enjoy this game. I have not encountered any bugs and the game performs well. It is a complete product. If the devs are ambitious enough, a few changes and additions could make this game stand out as a real gem.

This game is not as bad as people are saying. I am having a great time playing and enjoy it more than the earlier games. Dont let the reviews scare you awway from a great game.
I've been seeing the bad reviews for this game and have been noticing a big pattern in the negative reviews for this game. I wanted to leave more non-biased review for the game. Overall: I'd give it a 6.5/10, it's surprisingly fun and would recommend it. The game is $20 cheaper than new games generally charge these days, so price-wise it's not too bad, but may want to hold off until a sale to buy. Story: This is the weakest part of the game. As far as generic storylines go, this is as generic as they come and doesn't seem to branch out much. I have yet to complete a full campaign yet, but nothing is really gripping me as far as the story goes. We'll see if the end has anything in store for it. Honestly, the story isn't what's driving my desire to keep playing. Combat: This is where the game shines. On normal difficulty, you need to plan your party effectively or be prepared to lose some units. Make sure to bring counters and engage enemies correctly, and you'll have a blast. In Runersia, you had to keep monsters close to leaders, otherwise, they'd be debuffed. In this game, you can move the monsters anywhere you'd like, which makes setting up a battlefield more forgiving and gives more options as well. Graphics: The graphics are a step up from Runersia for the most part, with a bit more of a simplistic art style, overall, but better in-game graphics, as you'd expect. I dig it Not quite as good as Runersia but I dig some of the QoL improvements and hope to see more Brigandine games released in the future.
In short, it is a very good game, my new favourite in the Brigandine series. Definitely buy it if you want tactics and are a fan of Brigandine. From the previous versions they are less unique characters but they are actually unique right now. Each unique character has a unique trait or skill that no one has and they vary from niche to a completely class changer like healer Paulatika that can increase phys attack by 200%. This adds some interesting builds. I like the new rally mechanic; it also adds depth to the game. Also like a new system to level up skills when you use them. And even cities right now also have unique buffs. As a fan of the series who started from PS1 for me it is a fresh breeze in the series. And I think it goes in the right direction, sorry to disappoint you haters. Very good replayability: you can try different things even when you play for one nation repeatedly. Hard difficulty is not a problem because the enemy sometimes makes stupid mistakes like rushing with mages in the front line. But this is also true for all games in the series.
First time playing a brigandine game and I am having a blast. Pretty shocking to see so many negative reviews but it makes me excited to try playing their other games.
I really like the game so far. I think most of the negative reviews have failed to adapt to the game and instead focus only on the negative aspects of the game. I will explain the main differences if you played runersia It's much easier to revive monsters and you get a lot of money every turn to make up for this, the enemies are usually higher level too unlike runersia but you can also defense easier since you can buy knights instead of only obtaining through quests. The main difference I would say is we lost quality(I do love the previous games artwork!) but we got about twice the amount of quantity, many units, many knights, many classes. The one thing I did noticed is classes cannot change but I guess you can compensate that by just recruiting another unit. You are supposed to use money and buy everything from the store for your units, like I said it's slightly different from runersia where it was hard to get a single item. Here you buy them, a lot like every turn, every time you level up your units. Lastly overall the main thing that changed is we got more than double the amount of content(maps, units, characters, items), we got slightly worse art in my opinion but that's debatable, the story was always meh even runersia only the OG had a nice story, and lost some customization like class changes and individual unit changes, for a lot more of a spammy revive play style which is better if you like keeping your units! If any developer is reading this please fix the camera view when rotating it doesn't work well with the dpad!
