About
This is the original version of Braid from 2009, which may not work well on newer systems. For an updated version of the game with nicer graphics, more levels and a large amount of developer commentary, see Braid, Anniversary Edition.
Braid is a puzzle-platformer, drawn in a painterly style, where you can manipulate the flow of time in strange and unusual ways. From a house in the city, journey to a series of worlds and solve puzzles to rescue an abducted princess. In each world, you have a different power to affect the way time behaves, and it is time's strangeness that creates the puzzles. The time behaviors include: the ability to rewind, objects that are immune to being rewound, time that is tied to space, parallel realities, time dilation, and perhaps more.
Braid treats your time and attention as precious; there is no filler in this game. Every puzzle shows you something new and interesting about the game world.
Key features:
Newly added Steam Cloud support
Save your in-progress game to the cloud, then play where you left off from on any Steam connected computer.
Forgiving yet challenging gameplay:
Braid is a 2-D platform game where you can never die and never lose. Despite this, Braid is challenging — but the challenge is about solving puzzles, rather than forcing you to replay tricky jumps.
Rich puzzle environment:
Travel through a series of worlds searching for puzzle pieces, then solving puzzles by manipulating time: rewinding, creating parallel universes, setting up pockets of dilated time. The gameplay feels fresh and new; the puzzles are meant to inspire new ways of thinking.
Aesthetic design:
A painterly art style and lush, organic soundtrack complement the unique gameplay.
Nonlinear story:
A nonlinear fiction links the various worlds and provides real-world metaphors for your time manipulations; in turn, your time manipulations are projections of the real-world themes into playful "what-if" universes where consequences can be explored.
Nonlinear gameplay:
The game doesn't force you to solve puzzles in order to proceed. If you can't figure something out, just play onward and return to that puzzle later.
Sums Steam only; GOG publishes no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

Braid is a typical platformer that ends up surprising you thanks to a very particular mechanic: Pressing a button rewinds time, and there are mechanics surrounding this (In some levels you rewind yourself but not certain elements in the background, in others only you rewind, in others everything, etc). I'm sure you already know all of this, TLDR: it's a game I highly recommend. The only thing I can't stand, but which is outside the scope of the game itself, is the pretentiousness surrounding it. The game and its fans reek of the edgiest and weirdest things from the early 2010s, for better or for worse. I feel that sometimes a game exists with a grat mechanic and that's it; the curiosities behind it are just that—curious. I say this in case you play it and don't like it, so you know that even today you'll still get flak for saying so out loud.
A fantastic puzzle platformer with time-bending mechanics and a surprisingly moving story.
sanat tasarımı güzei olsa da çok zor be usta yapamıyom
Прошел за один присест (без ачивки за спидран). Прекрасно. Я не успел устать, и не успел потерять интерес.
A classic puzzle platformer with great art and music.
I'd like to say that I don't think Braid respects your time. For a game where the main mechanic is rewinding time if you make a mistake instead of starting over, there sure are a lot of things that require you to start over. I frequently, in my short experience with the game, had to waste a lot of time restarting and trying multiple times to get the execution of a puzzle just right, after I'd already solved it. That's puzzle design 101, Jonathan Blow, that feels awful. But what's probably more accurate to say is that I'm not smart enough for Braid. After getting frustratingly stuck on an optional puzzle in a stage, I decided to just move on and complete the levels. And then I completed the entire next world in 2 minutes. I realized that just getting to the end of the stage is not a puzzle in Braid, and when these optional puzzle pieces whose function hasn't been explained to me are the only real gameplay, I feel ridiculed by the game for not being able to solve them. I think my real issue with Braid is that the game expects you to view it as a masterpiece. It's almost a foregone conclusion for the game that you think its an artistic achievement, and thus it can do no wrong. That's bold, and from the general consensus, it seems like it worked. But maybe I'm just not smart enough to see its genius.
> I'm starting to think I just don't like puzzle games ## Why - Beautiful painting-inspired art style - Constantly introducing new wrinkles - A lot of puzzles have very clever/creative solutions ## Why Not - Some frustration from platforming, even with rewinds - You don't like puzzle games, not matter how many great ones you play ## Impressions Braid is clearly a great game and I can see why its one of the classics of the genre, but I just can't make myself finish it. My brain-rotted millennial attention span has me reaching for hints or even a guide after ~5 minutes of being stuck on a puzzle, preventing me from enjoying the feeling of solving the game's trickiest challenges. Up until around World 5 I was getting enough done on my own to enjoy it, but the time shadow mechanic was eventually too much for me and I bailed rather than get walked through the rest of the experience. If you like puzzle games you'll probably love this but you've also probably already played it. If you just like good games but aren't the biggest fan of puzzle games, this isn't likely to change that.
Puzzles excelentes que usam muito bem as mecânicas de manipulação de tempo. Não tem muito enredo, mas a trilha sonora linda traz uma atmosfera fenomenal. Achei muito curto.
