a very good adventure game. I recommend it. the price of this game is in offer for -70% very good.
I'll be honest, I don't understand all the good reviews for this game. Maybe its just not my thing, but I found this so horribly bad and unpleasant. Reminder: below is my opinion, you can like whatever garbage you want :) *yes I'm combative after this experience* The voice acting is just awful, but the script is even worse. If you enjoy being spoken to like a toddler for hours and told the same things over and over again, A+. The narrative story telling just grates on and on, giving you no room to even think for yourself. The narrator even told me how I felt about things as we progressed... please, sir.. I have no freedom of thought, please mold my mind. The gameplay was slow, floaty, and just boring till the very end. The puzzles were thoughtless, the color menu was clunky, and even the chase sequences were mostly standing around waiting for the screen to allow your progression. It was painfully dull. Some of the creatures had a neat design, and the environments were really lovely - Music was nice and trying to imbibe a chill peaceful vibe - and still... the game was ♥♥♥♥♥. The story COULD have been half decent if they gave it to you in ANY OTHER WAY. But boring you through a 3 hour "story mode" is not it. The color menu was an interesting idea - but so poorly executed. Was this intended as a mobile game for tots? Am I missing something? Was this made for someone who cant game due to only having 1 arm and motion sickness? If so, that's fine and dandy - maybe like... put it in there somewhere to set peoples expectations? if that's the case, and this was made for someone's disabled daughter or something, It would significantly change my thoughts on it, and my review. Now here's the kicker... 3 hours of droning on like this till my brain was jelly and leaking out of my ears, the excitement when I saw the credits roll, drooling and clapping like a lobotomy patient... BUT WAIT THERES MORE! Yes, you heard me right - that was just the tutorial - Now you've opened "Void mode" which appears to be the ACTUAL game. Go clean up your mess, the narrator says! You're free, I mean, just kidding... You're not free yet. Now it wants to split these zones you already played into sections, and make you do poorly timed precision stuff with the garbage color menu, floaty jumping, and enemies that are just dropped on you requiring reactive strategy? I would liken the feeling of void mode to I wanna be the guy. That being said, I would be infinitely surprised if this was made for someone's disabled kid, or the like... due to the difficulty change. Sorry but, you've wasted enough of my time Beautifun. But thanks for the "Die 10 times in void mode: void mode is hard" achievement. I need to vomit and bleach my brain.
A very complete and holistic game. Beautifully designed, quite forgiving in the story mode, probably a little naive with its message... it is nonetheless shares a kind perspective and gives you something.
I was today's years old when I discovered that Nihilumbra is actually a love story. A mysterious being called the Void follows you all the way to the end of the world because it loves you so much that it never wants to let you go. It just wants to hug, kiss, and marry you until the story ends in tragedy and it suddenly doesn't want you anymore because you've run out of money. Life lesson learned: there's no house without a mortgage. But seriously, this game is absolutely worth buying. The Story Mode is the mode you'll play first. It teaches you the basics of the platforming gameplay. The game is divided into five areas, and in each one you unlock a new color. Every color introduces a new mechanic that helps you overcome obstacles and progress through the levels. For many players, Story Mode might feel like a walk in the park. But don't worry, the developers have you covered with an extra mode called Void Mode. How much harder is it? Well... A lot harder. While Story Mode focuses on teaching you the fundamentals, Void Mode expects you to master them. Unlike Story Mode, you're given access to all five colors right from the start. The levels constantly challenge you to combine them in creative ways, and sometimes even restrict the use of certain colors. This forces you to fully understand what each color does and how they can work together to solve increasingly difficult puzzles. After beating Void Mode, you'll unlock a secret language. But because it's a secret, I'm legally forbidden from telling you anything more about it. You'll have to discover it for yourself. So what are you waiting for? Buy the game and start with Story Mode. And if that feels too easy, dive into Void Mode. I can guarantee that the gears in your head will be working overtime. Good luck!
You are a voidling that successfully escapes the void into the real world. Now with all these new experiences at your feet, you run for your freedom from the ever encroaching void. An alright little puzzle platformer that has a nice puzzle mechanic to it. The puzzle mechanic is that you gain colors to use on the world around you augmenting movement or abilities. This includes things like faster movement, slower movement, bouncing, etc. You’ll use these colors to traverse the world while avoiding both the void and the creatures it summons. Another interesting thing is that the narrator is constantly questioning your right to existence in a way that is similar to how one might feel empty and self doubt. It’s more than relatable and sort of a good message to conquer these thoughts for those who play. Some puzzles are a bit wonky, it felt, and enemy hitboxes are just far too big. Still, fun enough with decent progression though I hear the hard mode is far too brutal.
art and soundtrack is breathtaking
Everything is perfect but the void mode is HELL.
