I want to like this game. I bought it after finishing a run of Ginormo Sword, thinking it would scratch the same itch. And in some ways it does. You can make your sword big, and the attacking mechanics are (slightly) more involved. But you can beat it in under an hour. There's no elemental damage and minimal enemy variety. The good psi powers are redundant by the time you get them. And multiple achievements are straight broken, refusing to unlock even when you satisfy the conditions. On top of all this, the developer seems to have abandoned the game; the achievements have been broken for over a year. Steer clear.
크고 아름다운 검을 만들고 싶으신가요? 그럼 이 게임을 해보세요 진정한 남자의 검을 만드는 게임 이것이야 말로 갓. 겜 입니다 ㅎㅎ
I like this game a ton. It's and arcade game... it's an RPG... upgrades... The rotation mechanism sounds gimmicky on paper, but it allows for some very attractive and good feeling gameplay. Hits feel super satisfying. I made a "sort of artistic" trailer for it here: https://youtu.be/4A5XDq6cbuw
I loved Ginormo Sword back in the day and this game takes a lot of inspiration from it. However, the game is not very long or challenging at all, i was capable of beating it twice in like 40-ish minutes. I enjoyed the brief experience but it is simply not worth 8 dollars. Also the music was bland as hell.
I think the game's overpriced, and the developer needs to do some balancing and bug patches, but it's a unique mechanic, and it's fun. Recommend switching the control scheme to "rotation" vs the default (which I cannot understand at all). The game is functionally really short and easy, but the mechanic is fun to play around with, and you can theoretically get the sword to cover the whole screen if you're into grinding for something that has actual payoffs other than numbers.
A video of gameplay and my thoughts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djv9xJip-S8 Quick breakdown of likes & dislikes: LIKES + The pixel art style in Bold Blade gives me vibes from the “Golden Axe” era of video games. + Simple gameplay loop with bite-sized levels, which meant I could hop into a game and play for a few minutes during my busy schedule and still feel like I was progressing. + The game starts to shine once you get your sword to insane sizes, slicing through dozens of enemies at once and watching them explode! + Lots of different stats to experiment with during each run, allowing you to build the character the way you want. + NEW GAME + mode extends the replay value. DISLIKES: - Short game, can be beat within 30 minutes (this is only an issue for those who don't like NG+ or simple, repetitive gameplay). - Weak story Overall, it's fun. Is it worth the asking price? That's going to be up to you. It couldn't hook me for long, but I could definitely see some gamers enjoying the ride and the challenge of getting as far as they can in the NG+ mode.
Fun game but incredibly short with no real replay value. That combined with a few game-ending bugs makes it really hard to recommend even at $8. Worth grabbing on a sale.
full of bugs, and far too short for the price they're asking. Its a fun little game, but not worth purchasing unless its on sale.
Have you ever wondered "What if ginormo sword sucked? And had a glitched minigame?" WELP. This is your pathetic wish. I feel bad leaving a negative review, because i have to assume the dev had a stroke 40% through the concept of the game and died.
Has promise and potential but not enough content to justify the price. Just go play Ginormo Sword. It's free and better in every way.
