About
The year is 50 BC. Gaul is entirely occupied by the Romans. Well, not entirely... One small village of indomitable Gauls still holds out against the invaders.
In this game, designed to delight both fans of deck building and of the Asterix series, you can build a deck of 30 cards from the 150 available in the game.
Each card in your deck can be used to advance your strategy, from inflicting heavy damage with a menhir to healing a hero with one of Getafix's potions! It's up to you to adapt to each round, make the right choices and create combos that are as unexpected as they are devastating, by mixing, for example, the famous frenemies Unhygienix and Fulliautomatix.
Asterix et Obelix are here, of course, and so is the entire village and their friends, all ready to set off on an adventure. Cacofonix the bard, the faithful Dogmatix, Unhygienix the fishmonger and even Queen Cleopatra: they're all ready to fight!
Unlock up to 24 heroes as you adventure through all the different regions. Each character has unique characteristics and an ultimate skill. Asterix's ""Born Rebel"" skill, for example, works best against the Romans, making their attacks less precise, while Dogmatix uses ""Mark Territory"", which terrifies opponents and completely stuns animals! So make sure you choose the right hero for the right enemy.

Finished the game, about 30 hours. Double that time if you want to collect everything Positive + 24 heroes and supporters card + iconic characters from one of the best comic book + 6 regions, 40 levels and each map have multiple path for replay + can create your own decks + can buy cards and items (items are used for temporary buffs) + low game price Negative - menu, voice, music, animation are minimalist. (character animation still good) For budget game like this, worth the price. it is really good and fun card game.
Those who enjoy both card games and the french comic should have a good time with Astérix and Obélix Heroes. Deck building, card collecting and leveling, tactical battles, loot... This is all on the menu of this entertaining title that could keep you busy quite a few hours... If you can look past a few things. Let's get the technical side of things out of the way first, since this is what will welcome you into the game, and the most painful part. Graphics, animations, sound design : It's all extremely lazy. Almost unforgivable, even. The characters are recognizable but lack their usual charm, animations are barebones and very limited, with Astérix even sliding around on the world map and levels. A quiet ambiance music will accompany the few grunts and punch noises that are all very samey... This will feel quite empty, and you won't be impressed. Yet, and despite the unflattering presentation, I stuck with the game because I was intrigued with the card collection and rpg elements. And I'm glad I did. Pick three iconic fighters and one support among 24 well known characters, to fight your way through 5 worlds and 8 levels within each. Plan your itinerary to reach chests, shortcuts and the enemies you want to face before getting to the boss while managing your team's morale, and bring back home the loot gathered along the way. That loot will either be ressources, items to use at campfires or cards. Collect enough of those and your character will level up, enhancing his stats and abilities. You will be able to put the other kind of cards in your deck, and use them in battle. Your deck will evolve constantly, and although there are many cards available, I wish there had been even more. Still, there are a lot of strategies to try and combo cards to experiment with, because some characters work better with others and some cards are clearly designed with a gameplan in mind. It never gets very deep and the clunky tutorial means that you will have a lot to discover by yourself, but it works. And it's fun. Every map is designed to be played several times if you want to get everything, with multiple paths blocked by talent and character checks. This means you'll have to come back to previous maps with your new fighters and will extend the 20 hour adventure to a 50 hour one to max it all out. This could work in favor or against the game depending on how you feel about completion, but the game has another advantage : It's convenient to play in short bursts. Going through a map only takes between 10 and 15 minutes. You then quickly check the shop to see whether the new cards are what you're looking for, put them in your deck, level up your characters... Then go again, or don't ! It's never a big time commitment and it's always nice to find new cards. Astérix and Obélix Heroes was my go-to game for a couple of weeks whenever I had some time to kill, and I really enjoyed it. It's a simple card game that is technically very weak, but makes up for it with fun gameplay and the humor the comic is known for. In my eyes it's a 7. I may not have maxed everything out, but I've definitely gotten my money's worth.
🇬🇧 Asterix & Obelix: Heroes – A Missed Opportunity (But Works Well on Steam Deck) I really wanted to like this game. Asterix is a childhood hero of mine, and I'm also a big fan of deck-building games. On paper, this had everything to please me. Unfortunately, the game quickly becomes repetitive and frustrating. To unlock and evolve all characters, you have to replay the same levels over and over. The character progression system is based on collecting upgrade cards from chests or battles. You need a certain number of cards to reach 5 stars — the max level. But the card drop system is clearly bugged. You keep receiving cards for the same characters, even when they’re already maxed out. For example, I used Asterix the entire adventure and still never got him to 5 stars, while other unused characters reached 5 stars easily and kept getting more cards. It makes 100% completion almost impossible, no matter how much you grind. And the more you grind, the easier the game becomes — to the point where there’s no challenge left, which takes a lot of fun out of it. Sadly, the gameplay barely evolves throughout the whole story, which adds to the repetitive feel. The story and dialogues? Honestly, they’re quite poor — not at the level you’d expect from an Asterix game. That said, the game is perfectly suited for short play sessions on Steam Deck, especially during commutes or short breaks. A lot of potential, but wasted by uninteresting grind and lack of variety.
Asterix & Obelix Slap Them All.
Pacote fechado! obs: comprei numa promoção marota ;]
I bought this game 75% off and still feel ripped off. Terrible game without any challenge or actual animations. What you see in the trailers doesn't even match the game. It is slow and sluggish and is certainly not made for adults. Maybe for children, but somehow I expected it would be more. At least serviceable.
I really enjoy this game, but... The wait time for animations to play out is ridiculous, music can be painful...I usually just turn it off, there's no voice acting, & the dialogue is rough though it all seems to be in character. I also don't understand why no matter who is in your party, Asterix is the player you see moving around the game board. Despite these things it's a long, fun deckbuilder card battler & I would totally recommend it to those who like the genre. It's satisfying to play especially when you whip out some synergistic card combos & clobber some romans. Plus being able to unlock a ton of characters without having to pay extra for some dlc is a wonderful thing. There's tons of maps & many reasons to return to them with different characters & card combinations. I didn't know much of anything about Asterix & Obelix before trying this game, but playing this inspired me to watch the movies, it's corny but fun. Now I want to check out the comics, I know the characters have been around a long time. I didn't think I'd enjoy this as much as I did. So even if you're not into the french comics I'd still recommend it if you're a fan of deckbuilding / card battlers.
The game was fine until Rome chapter (probably a final one), but then I ran into a VERY annoying bug, where the buffs wouldn't expire - one of the enemies was permanently turned invisible (making them impossible to target), while the buff should only be up for one turn, and putting them down in a roundabout way took so long, that I used up all my healing cards, and my party had their HP so low, I was unable to progress through the follow up battles. That bug alone is frustrating enough that I quit there and then, and would refund the game if I still could. 0 stars, horrible QA process, not buying anything those guys make ever again, do not recommend.
Interesting game with memorable characters true to the loved stories, but unpolished and the random spell activation chance is so strange - for example the negative effects on you will almost always trigger, but the same effect on the enemy will almost never, which sometimes can lead to great frustration. Overall easy and casual game which you will love, but wish it was something more.
