This game stands up to time through both story and gameplay. It's not without flaws but the virtues far outweigh them! PROS: The story is the strongest element. The created world is deeply immersive and intriguing... you want to know more as you play! The gameplay is also excellent though probably won't entice those who like extreme challenges. CONS: Minor bugs STILL haunt the game despite this being remastered. Small things, mostly, but annoying (e.g. the 'pause' screen tracks objectives and will sometimes fail and give wrong info, items that should be for sale vanish from menus). The ending isn't... great. It's okay but could have been much better. The other 'story related' flaw is that it seems like an repudiation of Ayn Rand's Objectivism (those who would be triggered by this will understand...skip the rest for anyone else). I prefer to think of it as a much more classic case of hubris. One of the themes of the city is "No gods, only man" and it's a HUMAN failure that created Rapture and that's what finally destroyed it. John Galt would have done a much better job, ha ha ha! Objectivism doesn't deny that OTHER people might be skilled or have good ideas, but Andrew Ryan listens to NO ONE. Mind you, there seems to be a consensus that it's based on themes from Atlas Shrugged and that's hard to deny (though the director/writer DID claim he heard about the philosophy AFTER the story was being written). either way, it's a BAD representation. Such things are not uncommon in fiction (or even 'history' books). Various philosophies/religions have been badly abused in books, movies, and video games so Objectivism is in good company! If one wants to get some positive from it, Objectivists can use it as a cautionary tale both as to how OTHER people see them and where a good philosophy can go wrong.
Masterpiece. One of the best immersive sim games i've ever played.
Classic! Would Recommend
The game is nice easy to complete. I love the lore, and is easy to get to grips with. I completed the game in 12hours with DLC 100% taking 18 hours. No complaints for the era of this game. The room based exploration or linear path-ing was just right for the time.
