Best gameplay in the series, a good story in the main game, and an amazing one in the DLC. The only downside was the constant crashes that made me lose hours of progress
i love this game but it is unplayable , crashes every time to the point that i had to save like every 3-5 mins , lost hours of progress due to a glitch , worst gaming experience i have ever had
This was a really good game. "Exactly how good is it?" you're probably wondering. ... Well, it's good enough that I was willing to finish it and leave a positive review even though the game crashed about every five minutes. Exaggerations aside, the game crashed about 15-20 times during my playthrough. I learned to save every few minutes, but still had to redo several sections. I was surprised since the first game ran perfectly, but this one was a mess. If I hadn't been enjoying it so much between the crashes, I would have given it up long before the ending. Anyway, other than performance, it's a great game. It's very similar to the first one, so anyone who appreciates the first will enjoy the second. There are a few small tweaks that I appreciated, such as hacking being less tedious and just having general slots for non-plasma powers, as opposed to the different categories seen in the first game. This series also does environment and settings very well. I love the level designs, the different secrets and routes to discover, and the pieces of lore along the way. I still recommend this game, but if frequent crashes aren't your thing, it might be worth checking out the non-remastered version. Not sure if that one runs better.
BioShock 2 Remastered took everything I loved about the first game and somehow made it even better. I loved playing as Subject Delta, and Eleanor quickly became one of my favorite characters in the series. I spent half the game thinking Sinclair was going to betray me, but instead he ended up being one of the best characters across both games. The ending genuinely had me tearing up with joy, and I just sat there smiling and shocked at the same time through the credits. My only complaint is that I wish the game was longer because I wasn't ready for it to end. What an incredible experience. The first Bioshock felt like a horror movie while the second Bioshock felt more like a tragedy.
The Best Shock Game
Bioshock 2 is better than Bioshock 1 and miles ahead of Infinite, its a misunderstood masterpiece, gameplay and story are perfected and Minerva's Den twist blows the "would you kindly twist" out of the water. With that being said, the Remaster improves performance but crashes a lot. Don't let public opinion from tourists deter you from seeing this game for what it truly is, an improvement in almost everyway from its predecessor: An underrated gem.
I 100% completed this remaster for a YouTube video, but I can't recommend anyone play this because of the frequent crashing. It is beyond fustrating. I had the game crash 4 times in about 10 minutes. I had to redo a full area of the game because my save file would crash the game. This remaster also does the bare minimum. No modern auto-saving and it sometimes has glitchly text. The only thing changed from the original release is the 4K textures and removal of mutiplayer. If you're looking to play Bioshock 2, play the original.
Would you kindly play this masterpiece? This game is nothing short of amazing, and it's really a shame that it's considered a "bad" game in the franchise. Almost everything from the original is improved upon. Yes, it can sometimes feel like a DLC or 1.5 version of the first game, but that's only on the surface. If you're looking for a good immersive sim and just a very polished game, then this is it. But BEWARE, this is a really bad port of the game. Maybe this might not happen to you, but for me the game crashes constantly as it has a VRAM leakage, and certain weapons and attacks hasten that progression to crashing. Positive * Great gameplay * Good level design and freedom of expression (lite RPG) * Amazing lore * Excellent DLC Negative * Bad Port (Remaster) crashed constantly. If it weren't for the crash, this is an instant classic, a solid "9/10," but if you're playing this port, the crashes might make you want to rage quit, so just beware that it is an excellent diamond underneath all that sea.
I finally finished BioShock 2, and I honestly don't get why so many people overlook it. The gameplay feels smoother than the first game, especially with dual-wielding and the improved combat. Playing as a Big Daddy is just as awesome as I hoped it would be, and Rapture is still one of the coolest settings in gaming. The story didn't hit me as hard as the original, but it was still emotional and kept me interested until the end. The ending was satisfying, and I ended up enjoying the game a lot more than I expected. If you liked the first BioShock, don't skip this one. It deserves way more love than it gets.
Still a wonderful game series that I hope we will get to see another entry to some day... My only issue with remaster is that the game crashes a lot randomly, there are some settings and mods to help alleviate it though.
