Bayonetta is an odd game for me. The cutscenes are definitely over the top, but Bayonetta just likes doing weird sht in combat. The actual combat of the game is really solid, flows good and boss fights are fun. The game is a bit older, and you'll see that in it's graphics, but I think it holds up pretty well. Sadly, Nintendo won't ever release the other Bayonetta games, so this is all you'll be getting on Steam. The only reason we have this one is because Sega was the one who funded and published it, then refused the plans for a second, where Nintendo stepped in and released 2 more. I love the story in this game, I think it's dark and kinda just messed up, but it's so unique and silly, reminds me of Devil May Cry in a few ways. Easy recommendation. Mari Shimazaki knew what she was doing when she designed Bayonetta.. xd
I was on the edge over whether to give a thumbs up or down, but since the general score is Very Positive, a thumbs down doesn't feel wrong. In short, Bayonetta is one of those games that encapsulates the mid-to-late-2000s. We're thinking flashy, explosive, edgy, bombastic action with an overreliance on cutscenes, QTEs, button mashes, and where you fight the camera more often than you fight the enemies. Some parts of it are great, but the overall experience of playing it all in 2026 is a bit rough. Some things are undeniable. Bayonetta IS edgy, stylish, and over the top. If that's what you're looking for, a litte bit of provocateur energy, it fits the bill and is great at it. But part of the problem comes from it -- to show you how edgy it is, the game needs to take control away from you, and probably half the time the game is on I'm not controlling the character, but instead, watching it being edgy on a cutscene. That hurts the pacing, to the point you're frequently watching the game, not playing the game. But it get ridiculous when the game throws a quick time event (QTE) at you in the middle of a cutscene, only to kill you if you fail to react. Or when it requires a button mash in the middle of a cutscene, making you scramble and breaking your controller in the process. I know we're talking about a 2009 game, but I would expect at least the decency of an option to turn those things off in 2026. Not only that, sometimes the cutscene ends with less than one second to react before an enemy hits you. In one instance in Chapter 8 or 9, the enemy hit me for HALF my life bar before I even realized the cutscene had ended, and in a game where you don't get health items recharged, this is simply ridiculous. When you're not watching Bayonetta being badass, you can sometimes be it yourself. The combat system is mostly fine, with many combos you can either memorize or buy with in-game currency, but I didn't feel any reason to use most combos besides the basic PPP or PPPKK or PPPPK, all of which generally did good damage but still allowed me to frame-cancel in case I needed to dodge. There's no parrying which is fine, and the dodge unlocks Witch Time which is a slo-mo retribution window, which is sweet, but coming from Elden Ring, I found enemy animations and attacks very jerky and hard to read, but that would be fine if the camera was a bit more helpful. I can't really pinpoint what's wrong with it, but the amount of times I got hit by enemies off-screen and the amount of finaggling it took me to try to fix my positioning in battle arenas was just very frustrating. I do like a fast-paced combat system, but the arenas, monsters design and camera have to help me have fun, whereas in Bayonetta they just felt half-assed and prevented me really enjoying the combat. Good combat encounters are really good (I loved 1x1 against humanoid humans, like Joys or Selene), but very frequently you'll be fighting the environment, not the monsters. The game economy is also a wreck -- your currency is used both to buy healing items, important upgrades like health, combo moves, cosmetics, and amulets. Amulets are so absurdly overpriced that I imagine they are a feature for NG+, which robs players of the enjoyment and strategy they could offer. The problem with the same currency being used for everything is that it forces you to choose very few areas to focus on. For instance, I barely bought moves or amulets in my run, because I spent most of my money on healing and extra energy (given how I was suffering through combat encounters). But you earn currency by getting good rankings, and using items reduce your rankings, and dying has little effect besides rankings, so put it all together and your best bet is ignoring healing (and rankings, maybe) to ensure you have enough money for lasting upgrades and maybe, learn your way through the encounters so you can survive them on subsequent playthroughs (if you still want to play it after beating it). Poor players get punished by receiving no money to use on upgrades, whereas good players are showered with more currency than they know what to do with and for items they don't need, all so they can spend it on overpriced amulets or useless cosmetics. It's a whole system that feels built upside-down, and which clearly shows its age. So yeah, while Bayonetta is "cool" and "edgy" and "sexy" and ♥♥♥♥, it's also not super fun to play if you're a casual gamer that is not gonna try to S-Rank everything on multiple runs. You'll be fighting camera, hard-to-read enemy animations, the lack of a functioning economy, and the cutscenes, before you even reach your first enemy. I like the character, I tolerate the plot, but I can't say I really enjoy the game per se
Its witching time One of the hardest babies and highest ip’s produced by Platinum games. High risk high reward ceiling. Some of the gameplay will take your hair plugs into stratosphere. If you can tame Witch Time then the world is in your hand palms. Its that good and rewarding art of sacrifice. Book of revelation or at least on few of the pages. Visual and art direction from this game is godray shining sun. Even the angels themselves look like real deal. They are grotesque, terrifying and majestic at the same time. The world is split in three realms: paradiso, inderno and the world of chaos. This is just one taste of the story. Lets not forget our heroine of this franchise. Bayonetta is one of the most beautiful woman created. Especially in Bayonetta 2 she is best looking version of witch. She can transform she can tame you she will be dangerous in every step of the way. Sparkly dangerous and bubbly lovable spark of joy. The whole game is just high mayhem of true gameplay chaos that you’re not prepared for. Platinum games exist and their gameplay experience is always elevated into heavens
Bayonetta is Nietzsche's ubermensch, dominatrix ultra, and the ideal woman a reasonable human being should admire, fear and venerate. Bayonetta is a game about a confused person without sense of who they are and what their life purpose is, gradually coming to a grand self-realization in anti-dogmatic individuality and sexual liberty. In this game, Bayonetta is being attacked by the Catholic Church and the faithful masses who seek to strip her liberty and individuality off of her. The fight between Bayonetta and the Angels is in itself poetic as it tells the fight between a liberated individual and the order of the church and its religious dogma. It is a tale of liberty told with bullets and katana blades, leaving lipstick traces and fatal wounds. Bayonetta is poetic at how sexy everything that happens in the game is, and how the sexiness itself may be understood as a voice of freedom. Bayonetta's abilities are not merely superficial, their true meaning is especially significant - awakening bestial power within, transforming into beasts to move freely, dancing and by dancing conjuring powers from hell to her aid. All that happens in Bayonetta is essentially a celebration of sexuality and self-empowerement through individualization against dogmatic morality. Thus Bayonetta teaches us the path to liberty through sexual freedom, physical excellence, individualization, katanas, guns. The music is supreme, the enemy design is supreme, you're going to drive a motorcycle badassly and surfboard on an tactical air missile, all while terminating angels by putting them through medieval kinds of torture. The amount of torture devices in Bayonetta would certainly make any faithful inquisitor proud, although he would avert his eyes at the selfish purpose of their user. Praise this game
Having a great time with the game so far! My only suggestion is that I hope you guys put Bayonetta 2 & 3 on steam too in the near future, this game's story is witty and comical, the combat is epic, and it truly has its own one of kind charm. Please! sell the other Bayonetta games on steam! Sincerely, Grateful Customer who had a blast with this game
INSTANT classic but by GOD does it break a lot of the time!!! This version of the game REALLY needs a patch to fix up all the issues like invisible summons of your demons, enemies just NOT spawning, getting stuck in certain areas and having to continue from checkpoint, the brewing page not showing up, and a few more problems that do affect the experience, ESPECIALLY the frame rate bug. (I had to use BayoPatch just to fix a lot of issues.)

This game looks gorgeous and the main character is such a gorgeous woman... Unfortunately, this blast from the past no longer appears viable. Secret portals would be fun if not for the "can't hit enemies, wait for their rng to hit you" mechanic. This makes exploring half of the secret fights which are "shoot yourself in the leg then rely on rng" very, very boring. The number of cutscenes just kills the entire pacing and makes progressing tedious. Quick Time Events right after a cutscene with one-shot potential are crazy and no saves during levels is really uncomfortable. The game is extremely wonky with the camera, to the point where it's unclear where to even go. The same with bosses - with no discernible instructions it's nigh impossible to figure out what to do. And, being extremely old, it doesn't properly function on modern systems and crashes. Overall - I'd play this with a controller but only on an older PC. Everything else is merely an uphill battle against outdated mechanics and controls.
He tenido mucho sexo.
If you liked the DMC games then you will love this as it works and plays better then then all the old dmc games but i will say the story is hella confusing and another thing is sadly we wont have bayonetta 2 and 3 since nintendo owns the selling rights to 2 and 3 but besides that great game
