I really can't find a single good thing in this game. First of all - your character is ALWAYS running, you can't just stand and time your jumps. It's such a frustrating mechanic that leads to a lot of missed jumps. Second - everytime you jump, you always get that feeling that you'll not make it and eventually fall. The game world is bland and uninteresting. Music - childishly generic. If you want a good platformer with animals and especially - rabbit, better look for an old-school game called Jazz Jackrabbit.
What is Bayla Bunny?
Bayla Bunny is EnsenaSoft's attempt at creating a platforming game that is accessible for all ages (e.g. kid friendly). However, adults, be warned! You'll never be able to get over the nightmares of the piano played 'Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.'
Gameplay
The game plays as a normal platformer where players run and jump among other basic mechanics that players of platformers will be familiar with. The game adds more and more mechanics to its game over the course of its 27 levels. I would have liked to have seen more than one level between the introduction of some mechanics. Not because I wasn't already familiar with how they worked but rather that reinforcement of skills has proven to work. As a result, I feel that some younger gamers may become frustrated as they are forced into an information overload. Adding more levels would also provide greater value to the title.
Better With a Controller
The game initially advises you to press the left and right buttons for movement. This does work. However, for whatever reason it felt sluggish. I soon picked up my controller to see if the game had controller support. Thankfully, it does. It also makes the game control a lot more naturally. As a result I recommend that if you have a controller that you play with that rather than the keyboard. There was, however, one slight problem that I discovered with the controller. I couldn't work out how you are able to move to the next level. Therefore, I had to use my mouse between levels to select the next level. If it isn't possible to do this with the controller then I would advise that the developer update the game with this feature added. This would be viewed as a quality of life improvement.
Presentation
The game has clearly been designed with a younger audience in mind. Therefore, it is perfectly acceptable to expect a cartoon-like graphical feel to the game. As aforementioned the music throughout the game incorporates a heavy dose of 'Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes' into the game. The sound is acceptable as well. Arguably the presentation is the best part of the game as it can definitely be seen to be engaging to its target audience.
Is it Steamified?
It's an EnsenaSoft game on Steam. Do you think it's Steamified? Of course it isn't. Though I do hear that the developers are looking into changing that. Trading cards and achievements would be a great touch that encourages their potential player base to pick up their already cheap titles.
Verdict
Any self respecting adult will likely pass at listening to the music on repeat. However, for a child's first platformer it's a pretty solid title. I'd like to have seen more time given to the introduction of mechanics but that's really the only gripe that I have with the game. It's really the 'My First' version of platformer.
I swear this bunny is tweaking hard.
Very nice and cute game with a very cute pink bunny :3 :D ..is a 2D game with controls and levels like classic games from early '90 and 2000 ...still very fun and you will have fun at least i have :D ..enjoy !!
A fuir, même gratuitement ! What gets in you when you start running, can't ever pause to look around? When you jump, you're right out of control, now. But I can't keep you on the ground. Bayla, you've got me on my knees. Bayla, I'm begging, bunny, please. Bayla, won't you go where I want you to go? Don't want to wreck your reputation. I'm sure your devs did what they could. But when your jumping's practically random, it means your gameplay's no damn good. Bayla, you've got me on my knees. Bayla, I'm begging, bunny, please. Bayla, won't you go where I want you to go? Why mix such hectic platforming with graphics aimed at kids of five? Another thumb-down, for poor Ensenasoft, 'cause their dumb bunny can't survive. Bayla, you've got me on my knees. Bayla, I'm begging, bunny, please. Bayla, won't you go where I want you to go?
Wait... What is this "game" doing in my library?! I swear I didn't buy it.
Terrible controls - why can't the rabbit stop once you click the arrow key in one direction?!?! - and the worst music possible. I guess it's worth it for the trading cards...if you buy this game for less than a dime or two.
EnsenaSoft shovelware. Just garbage like every other one of theirs I've played.
