"Battle Suit Aces is a Saturday morning cartoon where you're at the helm!" The developers were not lying with this statement! I haven't finished playing at the time of this review but I am on my 3rd planet right now and this reminds me of a Ben 10/Thundercats(2011) type of feeling, like the early 2000s DC comics animation. It tells it's story by visual novel, the voices are in English, if you don't want to read and the artwork reacts to the dialogue. It's combat is as you can see in the screenshots, a deck builder. You can also craft mods in the workshop to add them and beef up your cards. I usually just enable auto text and pretend I'm watching a TV show.
A very good game. Sadly some arts are just sketch. But card combat and voice acting is really fun
My god! These ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gay! Good for them! If you want to play a game for its story, it is worth it. It's a visual novel disguised as a deckbuilder, though that is not a bad thing! Though the gameplay may fall short in some places (limited missions, reputation capping), it is still a very fun experience. I personally went for a mark-heavy build in my campaign (enemies take more damage based on number of marks)
Another great game from Trinket studios. A cute Visual Novel Card Battler that delivers a fun fairly light-hearted story about travelling the galaxy with your friends and saving the world. There's a few gripes here and there, like the unfinished artwork or story being just fine with the kind of game it is but the developers (at least atm) actively support the game fixing illustrations + adding deck editing. I played after this was patched in so I'm not sure what it was like before but I can appreciate this feature a lot it helped me try out new builds and enjoy the game more than I would have otherwise. Don't expect anything life-changing but it is a good game :)
Great art, fun gameplay,
This is a genuinely fantastic game. Solid, engaging card battle mechanics, great story, great characters. Delightfully inclusive, too. All fully voiced, with wonderful 'cut scene' chatter between missions (all optional, you can blitz to gameplay if that's your bag) Especially for the price, absolutely worth it. High quality, mecha space opera action fully in the vein of Gundam or Macross.
The card gameplay is solid, but you keep going for the story, characters, and that "I'm playing in a nostalgic cartoon" feeling that the whole game captures so well. From the opening title riffs to the warm characters, and the silly moments. The whole game drips charm and passion. I hope the studio keeps this up with its future work. They have my attention for whatever they do next.
I love this game. The artwork is immaculate and the colors are punchy. I honestly felt like I was playing an anime. I really wish this were an anime. I really came away caring about the characters and I would love to see more of them. I wish there was more game. I completed it in about 15 hours. Also, The music is so catchy, I had to download it. The game is fun and I liked thinking about how the different. pilots could synergize their powers to be more effective. The regular difficulty is pretty easy, and I only had to redo one or two battles, but that makes me want to try the harder difficulty. I just have a few issues with the game. There isn't enough time/points in the game to complete all faction quests and companion quests so you have to play it at least one more time to do everything. I also had an issues with how it ended.
The final battle and the concept of the suneater was really cool. I still had so many questions about the frenzied and the relic suits/pholians after the final battle. I felt like more could've been explored. I hope this is addressed in a DLC/patch/second game.
Great card minigame around a classic mecha story. Excellent pickup for any mecha fan
Amazing game! No complaints, really plays well with steam deck.
