About
Welcome to the Living Lands, a mysterious island filled with adventure and danger.
Set in the fictional world of Eora that was first introduced to players in the Pillars of Eternity franchise, Avowed is a first-person fantasy action RPG from the award-winning team at Obsidian Entertainment.
The Living Lands is an island where the air hums with ancient magic, the flora seems to move with a mind of its own, and the ground beneath your feet shifts with secrets waiting to be unearthed.
Now, the Living Lands faces a dire threat—a mysterious plague that defies nature and reason, spreading chaos across its sprawling wilderness.
As an envoy of Aedyr, you are sent to investigate, but what begins as a mission of duty soon becomes deeply personal—you feel as though the land recognizes you and is pulling you toward something greater. The choices you make will ripple across the Living Lands, shaping the fates of its people, its creatures, and even yourself. But beware, for every decision carries weight, and the forces you encounter will not hesitate to test your resolve.
Can you navigate the tangled web of intrigue, power, and danger to uncover the truth? Can you save this unknown frontier and your soul from the forces threatening to tear them asunder?
Even more to do in the game! This update brings New Game Plus, a Photo Mode, a brand new weapon type with two-handed staves, the ability to change character appearance whenever you’d like, new character creation presets, additional Godlike presets, custom game difficulty settings, and the addition of three new playable races: Dwarf, Aumaua, and Orlan.
The Living Lands is a place that feels foreign yet somewhat intrinsic to you as it feels the island itself is calling out to you for help. Explore an island home to many different environments and landscapes, each with their own unique ecosystem.
Mix and match swords, spells, guns, and shields to fight your way. Dig into your grimoire for spells to trap, freeze or burn enemies, bash them with your shield, or use range bows to attack from a distance.
Companions from a spread of species will fight alongside you, with their own unique set of abilities. From a former mercenary to an eccentric wizard, they will be part of your journey with your choices shaping them as you help them with their quests.

Reviews
I didn't play any of the Pillars of Eternity games, so I went in completely unprejudiced and really liked the whole game! It really reminded me a lot of the first awe and wonder I felt when I first played Skyrim. The graphics are gorgeous, that's always a plus for me! The combat is a bit awkward sometimes, but nothing that spoiled my exploration. Big thumbs up from me!
Put simply; this game is a lot of fun. Avowed shines the most in the moment to moment action game play and the level/area exploration and looting. I completed my first place doing magic which is a blast. Avowed manages to avoid one of the great pitfalls of early game magic builds which is having to few abilities. You get grimoires (spell books) that you equip as a weapon and each book has it's own preset spells to use from. You can later spec into what ever spells you want or you can use those points for other things and rely on the books. I thought this was great way to balance the magic system. I did a second playthrough with the ranged weapons and that was a lot of fun. My first playthrough I picked all of the "nice/good" options and on my second playthrough I went with the "mean/evil" options. Besides the major story beats, storylines do not deviate to much. My third final playthrough was a new game + on the hardest difficulty which was reasonably challenging. The story is decent. Good at some points, boring or predictable at others. It is fine for what the games wants to do and doesn't get in the way of what you want to do. This is not a deeply rich RPG in the sense of how you interact with the world and NPCs. It has satisfying combat and exploration and a lot of options for how you want to do that. I definitely recommend this game.
I was on the fence about this game, but after 1 hour was totally hooked and held my attention all the way through
(1/10) as builds sao fracas.
skyrim but with obsidians god tear story telling
I would recommend this game if you can get it for 30 dollars or less.
