About
Arma: Cold War Assault now runs on a modernized version of its original Poseidon engine: native 64-bit, Windows and Linux, support for ultrawide and high-refresh displays, full game-controller support, and a modern audio and networking stack, while it still plays exactly like the genre-defining original.
The engine is now open source
Bohemia Interactive has released the engine and game source code under the GNU GPL v3.0-or-later, in the spirit of id Software's classic source releases. Anyone can study it, build it, port it, and create with it. Game data and assets remain under Bohemia's Arma Public License Share Alike (APL-SA).
A free Demo is available on Steam if you want to try the engine before buying the full data and campaigns.
The full engine source code is available on GitHub — search for BohemiaInteractive/cwr

Ultrawide & any resolution: aspect-correct field of view; borderless, windowed, or fullscreen; selectable refresh rate and V-Sync
Modern rendering: new OpenGL 3.3 renderer with crisp scalable (TrueType) fonts
Full controller support: gamepad with deadzone/response tuning, plus fully rebindable keyboard, mouse and controller bindings
Modern audio: OpenAL backend with integrated voice chat (VON)
In-game mod manager: enable, order and download community mods from within the game (Bohemia's own catalog), no command line needed
New multiplayer back end: modern master server and in-game server browser (replacing the retired GameSpy service)
Open toolchain for creators: bundled tools for PBO archives, models, terrain, textures, sound and config, plus a standalone scripting evaluator and a Blender import addon
Bohemia Interactive's debut game, published by Codemasters as Operation Flashpoint in 2001, became a genre-defining combat military simulation and the No. 1 bestselling PC game around the world, winning many international awards, including "Game of the Year" and "Best Action Game". Over 2 million copies have been sold since its release.

First vaguely realistic military game I ever played; no stupid Rambo moments. Rewards intelligence and thinking outside the square instead of just mindlessly gunning down mindless drones...
This game is a classic and I adored playing it as "Operation Flashpoint" years ago. The devs are great for releasing the remaster and upgrading existing owners for free. However, I cannot currently recommend if you are planning on playing with controller.... I'm trying to set up controls on rog xbox ally x and it just doesn't seem to be working. And then there is a bug where the controls refuse to reset to default, it clears some of them like "vehicle" and they don't come back.
Well I played the OG one a touch after buying a few Arma's while on special and it was fun however leaving this comment because just wow, a remaster that cost me nothing source code to tweak it into whatever I'd want. It's just been such a long slog with all the triple A bs that this as normal as it should be doesn't feel real. Take note bethesda, ubisoft, sony this is how you treat your market. Good going Bohemia. I do doubt its super polished for any one going through the comments but still name another company, I'll wait.
Konečně češině i dabing zpět akorát ten název a je to skoro jak originál :)
This is the game that got me into PC gaming 100% recommend
0ne of the best games ever, ARMA or as it was originally called Operation FLASHPOINT is a true gem, great story, great gameplay, countless option for replayability ....overall simply, ARMA is the GOAT
You legends did it lets go
The original, original Arma, before company split into two. Legit 1 shot 1 kill simulator lol True milsim from the start Managed to finished the main campaign without rage quit, but can't do anymore with Resistance DLC lol The only downside is that the game required you to triggered a trigger to complete ending objective... If you don't know, then the game would be extremely long and slow Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, a direct sequel from Codemaster company, still milsim but at least it's not 1 shot 1 kill, most of the time lol
