About
Arma: Cold War Assault now runs on a modernized version of its original Poseidon engine: native 64-bit, Windows and Linux, support for ultrawide and high-refresh displays, full game-controller support, and a modern audio and networking stack, while it still plays exactly like the genre-defining original.
The engine is now open source
Bohemia Interactive has released the engine and game source code under the GNU GPL v3.0-or-later, in the spirit of id Software's classic source releases. Anyone can study it, build it, port it, and create with it. Game data and assets remain under Bohemia's Arma Public License Share Alike (APL-SA).
A free Demo is available on Steam if you want to try the engine before buying the full data and campaigns.

A studio completely releasing the source code for a massive commercial hit is unheard of in gaming. Absolute king move by Bohemia Interactive!

оооо спасибо Богемии за обновление классики, надеюсь фанаты завезут чего вкусненького в мастерской
I may be the only person below the age of 30 who can say that this was one of my first PC game. I grew up using my mom old laggy Macbook for gaming and it was the only game that could run on it. Bough the mac edition in April 2018 and instantly became one of my all times favorite game. Bought the PC version a week ago during sales to have a chance to play it again, and it still got it. Now imagine my surprise when i took a break and went outside for an hour only to come back to a pending update and the word "Remastered" on my screen. Everything that i could complain about the game have been overhauled, there is better modding systems, better options, controls etc... It's a fully modernized version of the game, it doesn't redesign or remake anything but fixes everything. One can only hope that this added to the fact that Bohemia interactive made the code FULLY OPEN SOURCES bring this gem back into mainstream. All in all, amazing update to an amazing game. Highly recommend.
Big W they released game source code to public github.com/BohemiaInteractive/CWR other game studios should look and learn (especially rockstar) thats how remaster should be done for old games - improvements that don't change how the game looks and plays - another + is that original version is still available directly in game folder/launch prompt i still have original cd disk with operation flashpoint :D https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3766071201 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3766071973 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3766072067
somehow is the worst running arma game... 10/10
оо, спасибо богемии за халяву
what is there to say. this is the genesis of many things to many people. deserves a spot in fps heaven right along with quake and rainbow six. major points awarded to this game for being a sandbox / sim first and game second. the missions and campaign are representative of what is possible within the software, your imagination and ability to mod are the ceiling. I will never forget messing with the basic mission editor the first few times. setup a basic truck convoy with waypoints. grant yourself a ton of det packs or triggered explosives whatever they are called. set them all up in the same spot where the convoy passes over. launch cars to the moon. some of the earliest and most extreme examples of physics I got to mess with on a computer up to that point. an endless game with endless experiences. a tool for expression
its five dollars, under 1gb size, and runs on a geekbar for a sandbox military shooter. worth it
