Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.14/day in the week to Aug 27 → 0.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Arma: Cold War Assault now runs on a modernized version of its original Poseidon engine: native 64-bit, Windows and Linux, support for ultrawide and high-refresh displays, full game-controller support, and a modern audio and networking stack, while it still plays exactly like the genre-defining original.
The engine is now open source
Bohemia Interactive has released the engine and game source code under the GNU GPL v3.0-or-later, in the spirit of id Software's classic source releases. Anyone can study it, build it, port it, and create with it. Game data and assets remain under Bohemia's Arma Public License Share Alike (APL-SA).
A free Demo is available on Steam if you want to try the engine before buying the full data and campaigns.

Casually updating a 25 yr old game and giving away the engine's source code for free? I wasn't familiar with your game, king.

Haven't played the Remaster yet but giving it for free to people who owned the OG, and releasing the source code is what should be a standard for older games like this if they get a remaster. Take notes Ubishite.
I first played this game back in like, 2004 or 2005 iirc. (That time, it was Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis)I barely spoke English, and being just a little kid, had little but no knowledge of how games work. So imagine how frustrated I was when I first encountered this. Very confusing controls, insane difficulty, semi-realistic system made it very very hard to even clear a single mission. But after years, I managed to clear the campaign, spent a bunch of fun times in mission editor, even learned how to install mods, and my English ability had greatly gotten better. (And this, Quake 3, CS 1.5 was like my only experience in FPS. So I heavily got culture-shocked when I first played Medal of Honor and Call of Duty haha XD) Now after 2 decades, I am playing this game; graphics are mediocre, controls are still wonky, and there are tons of more exciting games in the market. But this game, even after there are Arma 2, 3 and Reforger, this game... it really gives you something that makes you keep coming back.
Zdecydowanie polecam.
Great singleplayer experience, especially with the campaign. Controls are very clunky but manageable once you play around with it. Squad controls are okay, not something i like since it can be difficult to keep them controlled and alive. At some point, there are going to be some micro for your squad which can be annoying. On that note, missions need to be done repeatedly to be successful, atleast in my case. Gunplay feels great, love how satisfying destroying enemy vehicles feels like. There's no server available, if you guys want to play multiplayer you should do LAN or something like himachi/RadminVPN. I dont understand how the editor works, but i like how it can just be used to be like TABS. Also, for anyone who knows other games similar to this, please let me know. I know Arma 2 and 3 have singleplayer missions, but do they have a narrative? this game does, and i like it. Makes it more personal imo. Thanks for reading my review
Let not an ill word be said about this game and it's updated version for modern platforms. It's still perfect with all of it's awful imperfections that meant most missions could play out differently every time. It broke ground back in 2001 that nobody knew existed, and paved the way for the ARMA series. Pop open the MOD page and there's the classics RIGHT there, FFUR 85, FDF, Liberation 41-45, and the GOAT CSLA. Hundreds of hours worth of gameplay.
