About
Arma: Cold War Assault now runs on a modernized version of its original Poseidon engine: native 64-bit, Windows and Linux, support for ultrawide and high-refresh displays, full game-controller support, and a modern audio and networking stack, while it still plays exactly like the genre-defining original.
The engine is now open source
Bohemia Interactive has released the engine and game source code under the GNU GPL v3.0-or-later, in the spirit of id Software's classic source releases. Anyone can study it, build it, port it, and create with it. Game data and assets remain under Bohemia's Arma Public License Share Alike (APL-SA).
A free Demo is available on Steam if you want to try the engine before buying the full data and campaigns.

Casually updating a 25 yr old game and giving away the engine's source code for free? I wasn't familiar with your game, king.
Дали бесплатно потому что оу ноу - ван из даун, зис ис ту тэкинг комэнд, а сэй эгейн ту тэкинг комэнд. Элт.
Haven't played the Remaster yet but giving it for free to people who owned the OG, and releasing the source code is what should be a standard for older games like this if they get a remaster. Take notes Ubishite.
Great singleplayer experience, especially with the campaign. Controls are very clunky but manageable once you play around with it. Squad controls are okay, not something i like since it can be difficult to keep them controlled and alive. At some point, there are going to be some micro for your squad which can be annoying. On that note, missions need to be done repeatedly to be successful, atleast in my case. Gunplay feels great, love how satisfying destroying enemy vehicles feels like. There's no server available, if you guys want to play multiplayer you should do LAN or something like himachi/RadminVPN. I dont understand how the editor works, but i like how it can just be used to be like TABS. Also, for anyone who knows other games similar to this, please let me know. I know Arma 2 and 3 have singleplayer missions, but do they have a narrative? this game does, and i like it. Makes it more personal imo. Thanks for reading my review
Наконец-то дождались, ARMA 4
Let not an ill word be said about this game and it's updated version for modern platforms. It's still perfect with all of it's awful imperfections that meant most missions could play out differently every time. It broke ground back in 2001 that nobody knew existed, and paved the way for the ARMA series. Pop open the MOD page and there's the classics RIGHT there, FFUR 85, FDF, Liberation 41-45, and the GOAT CSLA. Hundreds of hours worth of gameplay.
Not a remaster, just a sourceport. Arma "HD" at best, but also not really because there are no new textures or quality of life upgrades. If they get rid of box aim and add workshop then maybe it will be good.
OH NO... 2 IS DOWN
