You look at the screenshots and gameplay and you think, "Oh, its like Celeste", except Celeste was a much bigger game with better controls with more "tricks" you could pull off. Here...the jumping is a little too stiff, so there's less leeway for tricks. Also, there's only 3 levels, so its over before you know it with not much development in the mechanics. If it was deeply on sale, maybe consider it, but if you're looking for more Celeste, this isn't it.
Fun little platformer taking 4.5 hours to fully complete. It's very similar to Celeste both in visuals and gameplay. I got stuck in the wall a few times using the rope swing, but had no other problems. FYI there are no accessibility options like there are in Celeste, so unfortunately you can't make the game any easier if you're struggling.
If you want to play Celeste, but are afraid of its brutal difficulty and length, Archaeogem is exactly the piece you should have in your collection. It's a cheap and visually very nice snack that will teach you the basics of precise jumping. It's a great training: For "baby Celeste" players. it's the ideal becouse the game doesn't force you into crazy marathons in the style of 7h one level, but it teaches you precision. The pixel-art biomes feel alive. Unlike many platformers, it tries to find originality through the mechanics of the whip and interaction with the flowers. The biggest problem with the game is the use of the whip itself. While in Celeste the dash is instant, in Archaeogem you first have to hit a flower with the whip and only then can you dash. This step sometimes breaks the fluidity of the movement that instead of throwing you out, it spits you out and kills you. Jumps can feel slightly off because of this. other issue are yellow flowers if you dash and grab them you most the time end up hitting the roof or spikes cuz how they are fast.
Certainly no Celeste as hard as it tries, but its a competent platformer. It is difficult but fair, although there will be some parts you have no idea what to do. The whip is fun but can be a bit finnicky, they should let you target the flowers from further away. Also the slowdown on the whip sometimes is really strong and other times doesn't seem to work like it should. Theres 4 total worlds so the game is shorter but it doesn't overstay its welcome. Not really any story but in a platformer that doesn't matter. The visuals are decent. Some really frustratingly designed parts for how precise every swing and power shot with the flowers is required, but they aren't the easiest to use at all times. 7.5/10.
this is like too harsh to like call it a celeste ripoff, it is a nicely made game. though if only you made chapter 2 and maybe 3 (jungle is my current progress) shorter. chapter 2 alone took me like 3 hours. though yes i was getting all 15 emeralds but still. man and also why is the game running at like half speed, i get i have intergrated graphics but any other 2d games runs well but not this. weird
Bem loco.
