I don't know where the rest of the reviews are coming from, but "tight controls", "nice OST" and "speedy precision platformer like Celeste" are the last things that come to my mind when I play this game. I got this game for free from a friend, have just finished the first of the 3 Worlds and I'm genuinely not sure if I want to continue. The movement is extremely floaty and doesn't feel very responsive, especially in the air. Perhaps people do exist that genuinely like this kinda of movement in a precision platformer, but I'm at least not one of them. There are no checkpoints in this game, which in itself is fine, but with the floaty air movement, the fact that everything is out to kill you and will kill you in 1 hit, as well as the insane amount of blindjumps, it just became frustrating after a while. Most of the levels in this games are based on a global cycle, which usually ends up in a lot of waiting because you just missed out on a bashable orb or because an enemy is right where you wanted to go. Honestly, the levels that don't have anything based on a cycle have been the most enjoyable so far, especially 2-1. There's also this weird thing where it feels like the bash direction buffers weirdly? Although there's a good chance that's just me holding down directions for too long since I play on keyboard. I think it's brave the developer put up the soundtrack of this game, because it very much sounds like someone's first musical pieces using free vst instruments. And that's how a lot of things in this game feel to me: someone's first attempt at it. Someone's first attempt at making a game in Unity, someone's first attempt at writing a soundtrack, someone's first attempt at pixel art. And with that in mind it's.... fine, I guess? There's basically no transition animations between menus or when you die, making those actions feel quite jarring. The lack of shading (especially in the background art) and extremely minimalistic animations make everything look extremely flat and amateurish. And of course, like any good game, there are quite the janky hitboxes. Excluding the cat in world two, which my friends and I have lovingly come to call the "Marth Forward-Air", I've already been killed twice by standing right next to a ledge while an enemy walked on said ledge. If you want to support a solo indie dev while getting a game to laugh and rage at with your mates, then sure, feel free to buy it, but in my opinion, you're much better of spending those 5 Euros on its very obvious inspiration, Ori and the Blind Forest.
This game is amazing It is a really fun and challenging Jump'N'Run with tight controls and love the different kind of gameplay mechanics you see throughout the game. Also very nice game to speedrun!
good, so hard I cried :)
Very cute game and hard at the right point. Just wish there was a hp system or checkpoints at times. but with how short the levels are it's fine. thanks for the key. :)
It's a platformer you can have fun with :3 If you never played a platformer before it's no problem. World 1 will show you the basics step by step and the difficulty raises with each world and it can be really tough sometimes xD And good luck to beat the Bonus Levels. They are really really hard compaired to the rest of the game :D
This game makes me so angry. cute bad graghics, VERY smooth frames. You only die because you messed up. never felt cheated that i died for a dumb reason. very difficult tho, like way more than i thought or would like it to be. there is one level that is litteraly bugged and you cant pass. 5/10
Red Bash is a pixel art platformer with good controls and a lot of interesting movement tech, reminiscent of other titles in that field, like Celeste. The music and pixelart is quite good (I really like world 3), especially for a small production and you can tell a lot of time went into designing the courses in a way to make them approachable for both newcomers and speedrunners. I can recommend this game if you want to play a cute platformer you can clear in 5-15 hours or you are looking for a new speedrunning game, where this game excels.
Fun if a bit challenging. (Difficult varies)
this game is pretty good , im prolly gunna come back to it soon , so i can beat it
If you like real hard challenging speedruning platformers, this is defiantly it. Things that stood out to me is how fast and responsive the movement feels. If you make a mistake, it's your fault. Movement is super smooth. Another thing liked was the music. Really clamming and relaxing. Reminded me of some GBA ost. Its a good vibe. Would recommend this game to the players who really like a challenge and to improve their time. This game is hard in a good way.
