About
Among the Whispers – Provocation is a first-person single player “Authentic Real-Life Paranormal Investigation Simulator". It's not a game looking to Jump Scare you (although it may happen so don't blink!), instead it's about truly learning about a haunted family and their past.
Operate tools paranormal investigators use in real life to learn about the ghosts that plague this location and what binds them here.
Use provocations to coax the dead in various ways to communicate or manifest. However, beware, trying to provoke a ghost while unprepared can lead to psychological consequences that could make the investigation harder.
So keep your nerves calm!
If you dare, explore this enormous four-story mansion with over 30 rooms to learn about the dark secrets it has been hiding for generations.
Find the clues to slowly piece together the sinful past this family has endured.
Thanks for all the support with my previous work on Conrad Stevenson! I hope this game shows you that I've been hard at work with stronger gameplay, better visuals, and deeper investigations! ~ Kip the dev

its a good ghost investigation game!! I do prefer Conrad Stevenson's paranormal P.I. but this game does have some fun mechanics to it that makes me hyped for future games from this dev!!! Worth the price!!
I loved CSPPI and was SUPER excited about this game though, like many others it feels like the "pilot" game and not a sequel. Only one location to investigate, the actual investigations themselves are random and incoherent. The stress and timed elements make no positive benefit whatsoever, it purely stands to annoy the player, which is never the right choice. The optimisation of this game is pretty poor too, I have a very high end PC and I get stutters and hitching all over the place, which should not be the case at all with this sort of game. The key binds on PC are really strange and illogical, for example, to exit a menu, sometimes it is tab, sometimes it is esc and others it is a click - You should always be able to use esc to back out of a menu. Despite expecting you to release more than one entity per session, the second spirit ALWAYS takes an age to get to the stage of level 5/chimes to actually be able to release them. I just finished a game (my last!) where I identified the spirit, had the special item ready and spent 20 mins constantly interacting with the ghost, having visual and audio interactions constantly and it never got to level 5. After that I was done, a complete waste of my time. What I did like was that all your inventory was in your bag though, slightly annoying that you can only hold certain devices in certain hands. I also truly appreciate the developer for trying something new and doing more work as I know that they can do great things and it seems from previous comments that much of what's in this game came from their feedback but as we know - You can't please everyone! This of course is just my own opinion and I am sure that many people in fact like the game for what it is and that is great. I just cannot recommend for players who liked the original game but I will definitely keep an eye on the developer for new games and maybe hopefully a Conrad 2 at some point.

I love playing this game . It feels like I'm on a real ghost hunt. the only thing i wish that they fix is the Residual ghost. it is taking over an hour or more to find this ghost, so i just end of quiting the game. I have to trouble finding the other two ghost.
Love the game, much the same way I loved CSPPI. Though, they are different games at their core. CSPPIs ghosts were set in stone with their own story and manifestations, with investigations that could take a while to figure out but we're rewarding. ATW is procedurally generated where it concerns its ghosts, and there's a lot of love in all the details Kip put in to make a procedurally generated network of ghosts work. I do wish there was a little more mystery where it comes to the ghosts. I recall in CSPPI having several ghosts overlap, or it not be immediately clearly what a ghost was, and I enjoyed the process of pulling the evidence apart. In ATW it more or less becomes immediately understandable which ghost type it is. The game is absolutely worth a buy and long hours of being terrified. Fully aware that I'm being greedy, but I hope future updates introduce more ghost types, or situations where more than one ghost is haunting a single location/room to make it more difficult to immediately figure out what's happening. Join the discord, everyone is friendly and the developer listens diligently to feedback.
Kind of janky and runs weird. Needs better hitboxes and direction; its super confusing. A lot of the controls seem to fight you so you keep messing up item placement. I've 100%'ed the first game. It was rough but also really fun once you knew what you were doing. This? This isn't good and I'm sad cause I want to like it. I can't tell if you're supposed to start with all new ghosts every time or if it's just kind of how it's set up. I had a woman ghost in the Art room and ended up getting knocked out while setting up the camcorder. I was then stuck in the camcorder setup menu and could not put it down so I had to restart. I get the Art room again but this time it was a man. The time limit on it goes a bit too fast in my opinion and I can't tell how well I did at the end of the round.
Well, I'm quite satisfied with the game, so I can't wait for the next update!! And thank you for these games.
I just got done with the tutorial and the first couple of investigations and I'm loving it! I love the mansion design, the family tree history, and all of the hidden lore for you to find and discover. After watching Insym play this game I knew I had to get it! It's so so satisfying for you investigate, discover, and release a spirit in one go. The voice acting for Stephanie and these ghosts are top-notch. Much faster progression than Conrad Stevenson's Paranormal P.I., but with a new yet similar game feel. And of course, with this game being in the same universe as Conrad where he calls to check on you from time to time, makes it that much better. I can't wait to see where this story takes Stephanie!
i encountered a bug that messed up my run, so i went to the discord and submitted a bug report fully expecting to get called stupid. the dev took notice and had it fixed by the next day. great community, awesome dev, and fun game! i do think it's import to note that this game is pretty hard to learn at first. the tutorial is pretty good but i had to watch a youtuber play it to understand how you're actually meant to investigate the ghosts. i've really enjoyed my time with the game so far, and i'll update the review after i reach 100% completion.
Another solid ghost hunting game from this developer. If you enjoyed Conrad Stephen's Paranormal Investigator then you'll likely enjoy this one. While the games are similar, there are enough differences to make this game feel distinct. I definitely recommend turning off timed investigations at first until you are used to the game mechanics, otherwise it can be frustrating to have done all the work and not get to finish the investigation. Happy hunting, investigators!
A pseudo sequel to Conrad Stevenson's Paranormal P.I., this time playing as an associate of Conrad's known as Stephanie who can apparently get ghosts to more directly react to her questions than Conrad can? This time it's her versus this HUGE mansion. Over and over again for a sort of weird experience that has gotten a lot of flak, and it's for a reason. You start with a tutorial covering the basics of investigating a ghost, using your inventory, your hands, and it's not very difficult. It's similar to the Paranormal P.I. loop but you basically need to release the spirit the same night. You finish that tutorial, see your results... and your only option is to return to the main menu. Every time you select continue on the main menu after that, the mansion is refreshed for a new spirit or two for you to investigate... with constant changing family names and history OF said family. Meanwhile, the mansion itself has a single history you gather through "Chapters" worth of archive evidence you find. I like the latter thing... but the former gets distracting. Yes, the big fault of this game is that unlike the carefully crafted individual ghosts of Paranormal P.I., Among the Whispers uses procedural generation for the ghosts, along with the same cycle of models with the expectation that you pull this game out to basically treat as an arcade adventure. By default, each investigation is timed and you also have "nerve mode" on. This basically gives you a little HP bar to focus on so you don't get scared into a panic attack. I have both of these turned off, there's nothing that insists you should keep them on beyond a challenge. The mansion is ALWAYS the same house with the same map that is kind of big but also after a few visits you'll figure out where to go and how to get there. Ghosts will generally stick to one room or the area designated as part of that room (they may appear in hallways outside of the rooms they are localized in). Stephanie, unlike Conrad, HAS A MODEL! You can see yourself when you look down, and also in the Camcorder evidence unlike how you were a floating set of tools in the last game. The ambience of the house, just like in the previous game, is spot on. Lonely, creepy, it has rats (and apparently a ghostly feline?), but some windows in the attic have an auto "scare" in which a barn owl will screech at them only to fly off once you confront the little bastard. But the ghosts themselves are a bit predictable in behavior... kind of? There are notes on what to expect from certain ghosts but I've noticed that not everything about Shadow People is to be expected. Supposedly, they will start running at you to scare you. And they do that! It's kind of creepy the first time it happens! But they may also just stick to running around in front of you and out of the corner of your eye, and then throw something. My creepiest experience with a shadow person is checking camcorder evidence at one point only to see that while I was walking around the room in search of a response to a provocation that it had manifested in my blind spot and was stalking me in its death animation (ghosts will have a slow "walking" animation where they mimic a motion relating to how they died - this is important information to narrow down your spirit's identity). I just wish the procedural generation would give more variety right now. Entirely luck based for me but the last several ghosts I've dealt with are shadows. Just shadows. A couple of intelligents, nice, but absolutely NO residual ghosts and I WANT to see how they manifest. Overall, I don't think this game is bad. The ghosts being procedural makes sense given Paranormal P.I. had GOD, SO MANY individual ghosts with individual stories and history. I would be burnt out after writing ten of them, but there's like thirty., so of course D&A would try to streamline this, but it loses the charm the first game in New Eidolon had. I write this fully aware that apparently on their discord they have been receptive to this specific criticism of the game. Now, they're teasing a third ghost hunting game in the setting. I await to wishlist that one based on what I've seen here and with Paranormal P.I. There's a lot of passion for the subject and the craft here that make the missteps worth enduring. Edit: oh right, also because I feel like it's worth a mention, while they work on the next game they're also publishing short stories following the growing cast of ghost hunters in New Eidolon through their website. First one's free and is a good read - I'm just turning this part into a dev review tbh.
