Amnesia: A Machine for Pig was…fine. Not terrible, not amazing, just kind of standing in the corner breathing heavily like it wants to scare me but forgot its lines. The game has a good setup and a really strong atmosphere. The environments are creepy, detailed, and definitely carry that classic "Amnesia" franchise energy. You can tell it’s trying to build something disturbing and memorable. The problem is, after playing it with breaks in between, I started to feel less like “I need to survive this nightmare” and more like “I should probably finish this because I already started it.” Pros: The environment is wonderful, the atmosphere is solid, and it benefits from having the popularity of the Amnesia franchise behind it. It looks creepy, sounds creepy, and at times does a good job making you feel uneasy. Cons: The plot did not really encourage me to finish the game. It had interesting ideas, but the pacing felt lackluster, and the gameplay did not always give me a strong reason to keep pushing forward. For a horror game, it sometimes felt less like fear and more like doing chores in a haunted factory. Overall: Was this game worth the price? Does it have strong value of replay ability? Honestly, not really. If it is on sale and dirt cheap, it is not the worst thing you could play. But paying full price? Absolutely not.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I saw some reviews complaining about crashes in this game. I personally did not experience any. However, please take these crashes seriously. They are a sign from God, who is desperately trying to protect you from inflicting this game upon yourself. This might be one of the worst games I've ever played, the only enjoyable part of it was making fun of it with my boyfriend as I was playing and he was watching.
100% Achievement Review #09
● Estimated difficulty: 2/10 ● Approximate amount of time to 100%: 5 hours ● Online achievements: none ● Number of missable achievements: 1 (Master Archivist) ● Difficulty based achievements: none ● Minimum playthroughs: 1 ● DLC required: no ● Glitched achievements: none Notes Amnesia A Machine for Pigs is a game that receives a lot of negative reviews for being a dumbed down version of the original Amnesia The Dark Descent, interactivity with the world is very limited, the monsters this time around are reduced to about 2-3 encounters in the entire game and there are no puzzles like there were in the first game. These criticisms are true, however I feel like there are some things A Machine for Pigs does better. Mostly the story, sound design and an interestingly designed steampunk world. I would recommend this game only on a sale as it really is a step down in quality when it comes to the gameplay and 19,50 euro is pretty steep for a 5 hour game. Achievement wise it is simply just playing through the story once and collecting the missable notes, which there are a few of.
it's very good. negative reviews are from people who spoiled the game for themselves by watching walkthroughs etc before playing, or strangely expect to get 20 playthroughs out of a horror game honestly don't read any reviews, don't watch gameplay, just play it blind
This game is really bad. I can't think of anything good about this game that would bend me to give this even a 1/5. Machine for pigs lacks everything, that made Dark descent great. The story feels like it's there, but doesn't keep the player engaged enough to follow it. While replaying this, I found myself skipping notes because I felt that they didn't tell anything interesting at all. Not only is the story really bad, it also looks really ugly. The eerie dark corridors and the haunting ambience made the first game stand out and it is looked upon fondly by many. This game doesn't have good ambience and they try to scare you by having millions of bad jumpscares scattered throughout the game.. The puzzles were too easy to solve and the game felt like you could just beat it without even paying too much attention to anything. The lack of inventory came with one downside, you don't have oil management. In the first game it was one of the most terrifying experiences, when your lantern just suddenly went down and you didn't have oil to refill. This doesn't exist in machine for pigs. There is no sanity meter or anything to make you feel dread. I miss the experience of throwing things around or anything to make me connected to the world. The predecessor ran perfectly on my pc, but this game dropped to 30 fps at some points, which is pathetic taking into consideration that this is the newer game. The monster is something to marvel at. It walks around looking like it has ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it's pants and sounds like a literal pig. Not only that, but they really want you to marvel at it since the thing runs across your face like 50 times. Were they proud of this lump? The ending left me feeling good, because I don't have to lay my fingers on this game ever again. It feels like a bad custom story made by amateurs. Oh wait, where is the custom story menu? Yes, they didn't even include custom stories :( The game is just a downgrade from the original and it baffles me, that they even had balls to call this game Amnesia. 20€ for this game is too much in my opinion. Amnesia a machine for pigs, more like Amnesia a machine for ♥♥♥♥♥.
Amnesia a Machine for Pigs is a piece of media that has a lot of merits and don't let anyone say otherwise. A:AMFP has, above all else, potential. Utilizing great aesthetic vision, the ambience is fantastic and the soundtrack are phenomenal. On a surface level, you get all the great elements for an artistic game. You combine that with
a story about redemption and facing the sins of humanity with the whole struggle for the upcoming century and the calamities that humans will unleash and yet still betting that the future is worth living anyway
and you get great elements for an artistic game on a deeper level. Unfortunately, the execution of the whole thing falls flat on disappointing levels. As far as gameplay goes, it is not scary nor particularly interesting to physically engage with the environments. Environmental storytelling is not as rich as it could have been and most of the story you get is drip fed too gradually. The themes the story wants to explore are good and interesting, but the game struggles too much juggling the horror game legacy and mimicking the previous game's titular amnesia gimmick to explore those topics in a meaningful manner. The ending is powerful and sublime, but it does not earn its stay for the lackluster execution of the moment to moment and how underwhelming the whole experience is from a gameplay perspective. If this was a book and it was slightly re-written, it would have easily been a best-seller. Alas, it is an ambitious game that doesn't quite land it's execution. It does have guts, though. While I can't recommend this as a good game, at least an attempt at something was great and the devs' determinetion is commendable.
Highly underrated and very over hated. Story is great, atmosephere is great, sound design is great, tension is great, Voice acting is great. Its all great. There are not nearly as many stealth sections and chases as The dark descent though. 8.8/10
