Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy , Syberia serisinin temellerini atan, oyun dünyasında "şiirsel macera" dönemini başlatan nostaljik bir başyapıt.
Puan: 7.8 / 10
Incredible game from 1999!! Playing this bought back so much childhood memories of playing old PC games. Amazing story! I adore puzzels, point and click games so if you like that type of thing too this is right up your alley!
Why am I playing a game released over a quarter of a century ago, pre-rendered at a glorious 640x480, when I could play the remake from last year with luscious modern visuals? Never mind that, here's my review of a game that released just before the end of the 2nd millennium AD: I can confirm that this game is still playable and enjoyable in the 3rd millennium AD. But I insist that anyone who tries it use a walkthrough to get through the first part of the game if you get stuck. Unlike modern game design principles that try to ramp up difficulty, the Lighthouse section is the only part of Amerzone that's challenging. Once the journey actually begins, it's mostly smooth sailing (from a player perspective - the in-game journey has its headwinds). I only got stuck three times after this, one of which was due to a glitch that I'll describe later. The game has as much whimsy as I'd expect from a scenario designed by Benoît Sokal. A reporter stumbles upon a man in his final 45 seconds of life. Instead of writing a story about this, he instead drops everything to fulfil the old man's dying wish. Amerzone is about travelling along a route prepared by an eccentric naturalist and engineer, not in search of treasure - but to return a treasure discovered sixty years earlier. What a concept! The experience is unique among adventure games I've played. Instead of milling about areas trying to figure out what to do, there's a much faster pace to this game and a driving forward momentum. There are lovely cutscenes of travelling through the rainforest, broken up by segments of gameplay when my mode of transportation fails and I have to figure out how to get moving again. It's a great setup for an adventure game that works really well. The journey ends at a volcano from where the guilt-ridden old man had taken the treasure decades prior. As I moved to return it and complete the game ... I encountered a softlock scenario.
I couldn't place the egg on the spot in the center of the lava. But I could use the bird pin on that spot, which surprisingly made the egg leave my inventory and appear on the ground. From there, the bird pin did nothing to the egg and I couldn't move from that spot. Soft-locked!

The softlock happened repeatedly after reloading a save, so I had to look up a walkthrough. The egg is supposed to be blessed at an alter hidden in the volcano walls. After I did that, the interaction with the egg and the platform worked, the bird pin with the egg worked, and the game was completed.
Shockingly, nobody has mentioned this glitch on the Steam discussions. Beware and save the game at the volcano if you don't know what to do there. Don't worry, I did buy the Amerzone Remake last year. I really hope they replicated the Sokalian whimsy of the original mafioso game, rather than trying to make those elements more "serious" or "believable" or "grounded." I want to encounter dying men in their final 45 seconds of life, like it's not even a outrageous coincidence. The lack of VR support for a first-person adventure game sucks, though. vorpX or UUVR to the rescue?
I love a jaunty trip through surreal worlds of prerendered '90s CGI. If you feel the same way, yeah, you'll get something out of Amerzone...as long as you temper your expectations. It's riiiiiight on the verge of greatness, ultimately brought down by pixel hunting, mazes, repetitive trial-and-error, poor feedback, soft-lock bugs, and a general lack of payoff.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ point and click
Cosas a destacar positivas: • Gratis y entretiene contando algo interesante. Cosas a destacar negativas: • Ha envejecido mal
