Welcome to the bottom of the Steam page and since you're hear we can ramble on about the game
Is this a sokoban game? We'll in this game YOU are the blocks. But you also push around other blocks so I guess it is a sokoban puzzle game.
We even have a fully voiced, funny story that plays out throughout the 80 story levels. Will Dave make it through to the end?
Fun fact the game is called RORORORO (ロロロロ) in Japan which happens to be one of our most popular regions for the game. And the kanji ロ means mouth but also looks like our bots. And then ロロロロ could be also seen as "argument" so in hindsight we wish we called the game this from the start.
The game was made in Sydney Australia and started out as a Global Game Jam game. Hence the punny title which we just rolled with
We have the Nintendo Switch to thank for making this game not a complete financial failure but in the 7 years since release we've been able to maintain a constant trickle of sales and it's still been one of those "hidden gems" in the co-op puzzle genre.
Sums Steam only; Xbox, PlayStation, GOG, Nintendo publish no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

Reviews
A deceptively simple co-op puzzle game that quickly turns into a communication test. The puzzles are clever, the humor lands well, and watching your friends accidentally kill everyone never stops being funny. Best enjoyed with a group willing to laugh through mistakes. Short, polished, and consistently entertaining.
🤖 Loneliness in a Cube or "The Puzzle You Bought for Friends but Played Alone"
Played through all 80 levels solo - and this review is strictly about the single-player experience. Without a real-life partner, the game loses a lot, and that's not an exaggeration.
🟢 What's Good

🧩 Feels like a mobile puzzle - just without the ads, loot boxes, and microtransactions. In structure and simplicity, it's a typical smartphone game, minus the typical mobile annoyances.
🎮 Gamepad is the way to go. Sticks give smooth, almost surgical control - you can move your robots very slowly. The devs rightly recommend a controller. Keyboard works too, but sticks offer more freedom and precision.
🕊️ Deaths don't matter. The game counts your falls, but they affect nothing. No penalties, no hidden punishments - just a level restart. There are even achievements for dying a lot - feel free to jump into the abyss on purpose.
⏳ No deadlines, no rush. Nobody hurries you. You can play in short sessions - ideal if you're short on time.
🖼️ Clean visuals, no bugs. Graphics are simple but tidy. I didn't spot any visual junk or technical hiccups.
🏆 Achievements almost painless. All single-player cheevos come easily and naturally. You'll only get stuck on the multiplayer ones - those require at least one real-life partner.

🟡 Mixed Bag

🎵 Music is white noise. Doesn't annoy, but utterly forgettable. Just background ambience you could swap for anything.
🎨 Customization is a dead feature. Changed my skin once on level four and never touched it again. A checkbox mechanic with zero purpose.

🔴 Why I Don't Recommend

⏱️ Catastrophically little content. 80 campaign levels take around 8 hours (if you don't brain-fart like I did, maybe just a few). For a paid game - there's simply not enough to do.
🕹️ Complete lack of control settings. Can't rebind keys, change sensitivity, or switch layouts. On a gamepad, only the sticks and two bumpers for camera control work - every other button is dead weight. You have to learn the controls by feel - missing settings in a game like this is critical and feels like forcing their own way to play.
♾️ Zero replayability. Levels are fixed - no randomness, no variation. Play once and forget. Reminds me of a trivia board game: you play it once, then it's "been there, done that."
📖 Story and humor are empty. A cheap Portal clone with faceless characters. After the ending, I still don't know "what it was all about." Jokes land extremely rarely - mostly miss.
🥱 Solo play doesn't hook you. A couple of levels and you want to quit. Without a real person next to you, the puzzle quickly becomes tiresome. This game is categorically not for loners.
🗄️ Bonus "Vault" levels exist but don't motivate. If the main campaign feels short, you can go there - but the game doesn't push you at all. No achievements, no story hook, just "hey, you can play more." After 80 levels, there's no desire to continue.
📈 Unpredictable difficulty. New mechanics are introduced smoothly, with tutorial levels - no complaints there. But toward the end, the difficulty curve breaks: a simple level that takes a minute can be followed by a tooth-grinding one that takes 10-15 minutes, then another easy one. It feels like the levels were just shuffled, forgetting to build a proper progression.
💀 Controls don't forgive mistakes. One slight step sideways on a cube - and it's the abyss or spikes, start over. Movable cubes love getting stuck on corners. With a gamepad that has stick drift, it's unplayable.
🚫 No rewards for mastery. Cleared a level perfectly? Nothing. With a hundred deaths? Same. No incentive to replay, no motivation to try hard. You just beat it - and that's it.

Death Squared - a neat, technically clean puzzle that only comes alive in company of real people with gamepads. Solo, it's a meager set of levels with no challenge, no story, and no replayability. Its value justifies itself solely as a party snack. ✅ For occasional get-togethers with friends - might give you a pleasant evening. ✅ Only buy at a deep discount, and only if you have someone to play with. ❌ As a solo experience - almost guaranteed disappointment. ❌ Even for online play with a friend - I wouldn't recommend: without physical contact, the magic is lost. I don't regret the time spent, but I'm not drawn back either. 👎 I do not recommend Death Squared for purchase - especially if you plan to play alone.
Paradni oddechovka, kterou lze hrat sam nebo s prateli. Netlaci tu zadny cas, lze jit v klidnym tempu. Staci dojit na male herni plose do sveho domecku (kolecko stejne barvy). Cestou je pouze hromada nastrah, laseru, posuvnych plosin a nepruchozich bloku. Jako bonus lze hledat ukryte predmety, vetsinou schovane mimo klasickou mapu.
Spawned friend into laser he vanished. Wife spawned into box I gave her flowers. Now we are both cubes and the frost giant fears us.
