Reviews
Mainly just very mediocre.
Great dialogs, terrible interface and animations. Play it with a guide if you are really hungry.
Feels exactly like those old cartoons but you are actually operating it. Narrator is killing it tho like literally, those jokes those comments about objects etc everything feels funny when that narrator talks with that serious voice. I have never enjoyed a comedy game this much hell I have never played a comedy game this funny. Definitely would recommend.

Excellent game, in the spirit of the old Quest for Glory games but with a modern Wild West setting, better graphics and voiceovers. Highly appreciate and recommend it, good puzzles and user interface. Played as a group with tweens and adults, everyone loved it.
TL;DR: This game is bad. Do not buy it. I want to say anything positive about it but that is so hard. Even considering the game is 20 years old it is bad. It would have been bad back then as well. The jokes would have been unfunny back then. Let me list things that happen in no particular order: - Jokes about men who are not manly - Men cross dressing and having sex with another man - Poop jokes - Driving someone to suicide - Dementia jokes - Alcoholism jokes - Native americans speaking in broken English and having a Casino - Transphobic jokes - Misogynistic jokes - References to celebrities who were not important in 2006 (anymore) - Puzzles that make little sense I get it wants to be a reference to old Sierra adventure games but it just does not work. Also the controls are bad. And there is an achievement requiring you to play half the game two more times. Fun. And for another one you have to play a slot machine. Extra fun. Still not the worst thing I have played. Score: 2/9
Tags: Adventure - P&C - Point and Click TLDR: A polished, light hearted, well voiced P&C hindered by an uncharismatic protagonist, weak musical score, aging engine and sometimes nonsensical world setting. Al Emmo & Dutchman mine is basically an indie leisure suit larry made in AGS (Adventure Game Studio Engine), it has less fan service, and it is set in an anachronistic world ( a la monkey island) with a western flavor. The voice acting is really AAA grade, the art is for the scenery is excellent but has scaling issues due to the engine and is full of sprites rather than smooth on higher resolutions. The musical score is underwhelming and more often than not absent, instead replaced by scenery noises and a few notes here and there. The light heartedness and excellent sense of humor, especially the dichotomy between the narrator and the protagonist, really helps carry this title forward, and by the time those elements start to wear out their novelty you may find that the main protagonist has grown on you despite all his flaws. Puzzle difficulty is about average, with everything being mostly logical, but I did use a walkthrough to spare myself frustration. I advise trying the Universal Hint System (UHS) instead. I found the 3D rendered characters clashed somewhat with the 2D environments and would hope that if sequels are considered this be adressed. I learned while reading reviews that this developper was responsible for remaking King`s Quest 1-3 and Quest for Glory 2 in Adventure Game Studio Engine. I remember seeing those remakes made to be played in what seemed like a King Quest V engine and they looked great, so it is good to see that they ventured into their own series after the experience they got from remaking other`s games. You might want to check out their work on these if you enjoyed this title.
what a great game. im going to play the sequel straight away
Strap on your toupee and prepare for a wild ride through the dusty plains of the Wild West with Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine. This point-and-click adventure embraces the spirit of the golden age of the genre, offering a meticulously crafted world brimming with detail and humour, albeit of a specific taste, that might not resonate with everyone. Al Emmo, our unlikely hero, is a bumbling yet endearing 42 year old virgin on the hunt for love. Each pixel of the game world is saturated with personality, evident in the extensive vignettes and commentary attached to nearly every object. This meticulous approach creates a sense of richness and invites exploration. Al and the narrator engage in witty banter, adding a layer of meta-humour and frequently breaking the fourth wall. The Wild West setting adds a touch of exoticism to the familiar point-and-click formula. Exploring dusty saloons and navigating treacherous canyons feels like stepping into a classic Western film. However, it's crucial to note that the humour leans heavily on situation comedy and innuendo, reminiscent of games like Leisure Suit Larry. This might make it unsuitable for younger audiences or those who prefer more high brow humour. Despite the potentially polarising humour, Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine offers a delightfully nostalgic experience. The detailed world, engaging puzzles, and Al's quirky charm will undoubtedly win over some. Ultimately, this game is a love-it-or-hate-it affair, but it's undeniably a unique and meticulously crafted adventure worth trying for those seeking a romp in the west. Played on Linux via Proton.
