Twilight Oracle

[h2]Summary:[/h2] Twilight Oracle is a classic point-and-click adventure game where we're as playing as goodie two-shoe carefree, not-on-the-bright-side surfer dude on a very important quest along with his not-so-well-gifted companion to find a rebel going against the school council. This plays like your standard game of this genre where you would need to interact with characters who will give you fetch-quests for you to explore and find a particular item to give them that are either hiding somewhere behind pixels or you would need to make by combining stuff you collected in your inventory in order progress through the story. Taking place in a trippy cosmo world where there's talking fish, an island made of candy and a lion statue that cries purified tears. [h2]Nichepicks:[/h2] I wouldn't say this is the best game I played of this calibre. I wanted more chaotic weirdness but based on established rules set if that makes sense. I also didn't like how the side characters (funny enough) were heavily sidelined after the second section. The reason I wanted them to play a bigger role in this game is each of them, (including our own) has one power we can use to solve puzzles. I thought more of that would come into play and the powers would be less basic something more odd maybe being able to talk to inanimate objects or changing colours. Once we used one of them to solve a puzzle that was it which I feel was a waste puzzle solving possibility-wise. For the other complaint, the chop trapezoid bar above the inventory we need to click on to go to another location can be quite muted to notice with the colours the first time around in some areas. So next time to the developer, just make it visible to prevent players from getting lost. [h2]Likes:[/h2] Even if this game didn't tick all the boxes I was expecting I'm still fond of it for reasons people may not be, like the cheesy dialogues and the overly optimistic going-with-the-flow vibe. Thirdly, I know I may be in the minority here, but I like the amateur VA here. I felt it fit the theme of this weird game, or maybe I'm just too used to professional VA that it is always nice to hear some less impressive one from a bad recording. It helps establish this is from an indie developer and we shouldn't expect everything to be high quality, (just their best). From what I've heard, the developers didn't have enough budget for professional voice acting (except one for the main character), so they stuck with the people they could afford who all had different microphone quality. The one issue I do have surrounding that subject is I would have liked to help a couple more adult-sounding actors. There's a bit too much child-sounding actor for me to take this game seriously. Overall, it kinda worked out for me personally. The other thing I like about this game where despite not being based on reality the puzzle is logical for the most part for you to solve you don't have to feel inclined to look up a guide. Furthermore, if you interact with items in your inventory they give you a small hint on what you can use it for if you can read between the lines. Lastly, it gonna give credit to the bright pixel colouring used to appeal to the magical wonder aesthetic of this game. Enough detail to see where things are and not too much to create a lot of noise to make visibility hard. [h2]Conclusion:[/h2] In my opinion, is a above avenge game and I feel it can be a hard or miss for some people, especially those who care about VA. Most of the problems I had with this game were mostly nitpick and different tastes. Based on the time I had with this game I don't regret trying it out and supporting 'indie' dev who exposed us to another awesome game.

The style is very 90's obviously it is a funny game, though the protagonist is a bit pretentious. Besides you can't be funny if you try.. Except from that the rest of the game is fun to play, the story is awkward and odd at times but it does make sense when you dive into it (no pun intented) I personally think the puzzels are well balanced, no moon logic. I hate it when you have to read a guide to solve a puzzle. All in all it is a great experience this point & click adventure. Hope to see more of this studio. I do like the strange 90's vibe, it is mysterious and kind of weird you are familiar with. Cheers!

Great point and click adventure game. i'm a satisfied kickstarter backer ,the voice acting turned out great. Love the fun,colorful and surreal pixel art, the funny and positive main character, creative and intuitive puzzles. I was feeling low and it really cheered me up.A short and sweet game I totally recommend .

This is a beautiful game with a wacky story and a funny ending. The humor, writing, and voice acting is mostly well done, considering that the characters, especially Leo, are dim-witted, vane, etc. Navigation could be smoother. It was also difficult to keep track of the objective between plays. Thus, some of the puzzles were more challenging than they should have been. I would recommend this as a classic adventure game and a clever spoof on the teenage adventure genre. I look forward to playing more games like this from the developer.

I enjoyed two pleasant evening sessions with Twilight Oracle. Main character Leo is a dopey guy with a good heart. The story is a light-hearted romp without much narrative tension, so my experience was all about exploring and enjoying the set pieces, which are saturated with a pleasing color palette and interesting shapes. I played without the voice acting on, so I can't speak to that piece. If you're someone who prefers reading over listening like me, the dialogue holds up as written!

Perfect game for a fun evening or two. Lots of weird sceneries to enjoy!

Un point&click sympa et rigolo. La technique est très correcte, et il y a un hommage appuyé à Legend of Kyrandia (qui est loin de me déplaire !). L'histoire est tirée par les cheveux, mais les aventures de notre héros restent très acceptables, et font passer un bon moment. Twilight Oracle mérite donc d'être considéré sérieusement !
