Multiplayer issues still persists. Constant desyncs and basic options do not work in multiplayer lobbies. Game is also notoriously unstable in multiplayer. No issues in singplayer, however due to earlier mentioned issues I cannot recommend this game. Devs are aware of the issues yet do nothing in this regard as well.
Great game. Awesome installment in the series. They may have gone a little far with DLC and passes, but the game is pretty great nonetheless.
Steam need a middle ground button between yes and no. Just on the game itself i would recommend it to anyone who loves this genre and or fantasy elements Story is alright ish customizing is alot of fun, and the amount of stuff you get from playing the game for an extended period of time is pretty good too for this style of game. Desync is a huge issue i ran into when id play with my friends on console but you kinda knew when to expect it after awhile and prepared for it. Now why i possibly couldnt justify recommending this game Outside of the above and the base game you have dlc The prices for the DLC is insane, Some of which dont justify the price. However, if you have 1 friend who plays and has any dlc, if you play with them youll have access to all of theirs on just that save (game uses host to apply dlc to others, so as long as host has dlc, you could try it out on that save only) Mods Yes mods exist, ive tried a few, idk if console has them or not, but the mods seem like a good way to get new content without the price bloat even if it is player created. Downside is most mods require so kind of dlc, so if yorue coming in fresh it could be a bit of a downer.
big dragon = good
The game is fun and has a lot of improvements over, say, Civ 6 as a comparable title. But at the same time there's usually something that feels "missing". Making tons of custom factions is great, but in that same sense, the gameplay can get surprisingly samey unless you're really getting out there. Maybe I'm not doing it right. In Civ, you spend a lot longer pushing for your nation or leader's individual strengths, and the homogeny comes much later and generally only if you're disabling turn limits. Swapping leaders for the same nation can also produce a dramatic effect, yet in Age of Wonders the same cannot be said. So much QoL like being able to speed up the animations of units walking, use gold to finish something in production, put down camps instead of having to make full settlements for every little thing you see - all great. But the game suffers insanely from desync and turn length becoming insanely bloated due to the combat. I wish I could like it more because it seems pretty good, but it definitely suffers from imbalances in faction creation.
The more I play this game, the more I enjoy it.
This is my first 4X game and I'm having an absolute blast. I don't have any DLCs and the base game feels deep enough. After almost 100h I still have a lot to discover, but I will say right away that 150€ in aditional content is just too predatory for the audience. That is not ok.
Awsome game. you want to be a dragon, be a dragon, do you want to be a all powerful wizard you can, do you want to be an elf shooting arrows while managing a kingdom as a ruler of bush lovers, well you can, but, a big but, DLC are expensive as ♥♥♥♥. but in the other side if one player owns all DLC or some he can share with the others. but big recomend if you like RTS and feeling all powerful
