About
Play as either Bel'Kara, a seductive Succubus at odds with the Underworld, or Katzok, a brutal Orc Chieftan fighting for his clan's dominance. The choice is yours between brains and brawn, fiend or fighter, but both paths lead towards grand adventure!
AGE OF FEAR is a long-running series of fantasy turn-based strategy games loved by fans for its tabletop wargame battle system and in-depth RPG customization. Age of Fear 2: The Chaos Lord continues the series' deeply tactical gameplay with two challenging story driven campaigns (full of humour!) to choose from. (scroll down for a list of features)

⭐HEX-FREE BATTLES - test your tactics with a novel movement system where size matters and units aren't constrained by artificial grids!
⭐OPEN WORLD - are you bored with the main storyline? No worries, you can always take a side-quest or play procedurally-generated battles. Play this game as you want!
⭐GLOBAL EVENTS that occur while exploring the World Map, à la Battle Brothers. This feature is still being developed and could serve to provide more lore and fun unit interactions conditional on the player's party!
⭐FACTION BASES which can be upgraded as you explore the Age of Fear world. Investing in base upgrades will unlock additional recruitable units, skills and locations to explore
⭐MERCENARIES - recruit your troops from multiple races and factions! Will a Dwarven Warrior work with a bloodthirsty Orc?
⭐ALIGNMENTS such as Evil and Holy. Units from opposite sides won’t like each other and may desert. A bit of diplomacy (or charisma!) is needed to manage such relationships.
⭐EXTENDED STORY including many sub-quests, optional events, alternative endings, more detailed lore, etc.
⭐FREQUENTLY UPDATED - we take our work seriously and patch our games often with new features and content. Also, whenever possible, those updates are back-ported to all our previous games!
⭐COMMUNITY-DRIVEN - we listen to our players and continuously improve! Go and check our forums, everyone has their say and we implement those suggestions.
⭐FULL OF JOKES - who said strategy games have to be serious? All the best fantasy jokes have a home here!
⭐PARTY CUSTOMIZATION - build and upgrade a custom army from more than two hundred unique units, skills and spells (but be aware of racial animosities!).
⭐DEEP BATTLE MECHANICS - learn the basics in a hurry, then develop new strategies around a huge variety of skills, spells and battle hazards like neutral factions and environmental effects (yes, you can anger bystanders!).
⭐EASY TO MOD - create your own missions, or even full-fledged campaigns, to be shared with the Steam community!
⭐FANTASY STORYTELLING - get wrapped up in two separate storylines featuring a motley crew of characters, globetrotting adventures and fantasy shenanigans galore. All hand-illustrated!
⭐PERMANENT DEATH - accept the grim realities of death where all units that fall in battle stay dead... unless an evil Necromancer raises them as Zombies.
⭐ARTEFACTS AND RELICS - discover numerous unique weapons, armours, potions and treasures, with the rarest granting powerful OP skills and stat bonuses.
⭐ADVANCED AI - our AI is built upon a self-organizing network of agents and meta-heuristics algorithms (yes, we are PhD-smart!). Discover one of the most sophisticated AI systems you've ever played against!
⭐LOW HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS - run the game even on that old potato laptop of yours. Your stone-age computer is good enough!
⭐COLOR-BLIND MODE - a special mode with higher contrast and outlined fonts.

Fun tactical, squad, turn based, RPG. If you like the first one you'll like this. I like it better than the first. I don't have loads of playtime but I played the first game too and I have a newborn, just turned 3 months taking my time. I like it and I will continue playing it as time permits. I've also not seen any bugs. I recommend it to people who typically like this type of game.
For 15€, the game is way to short. While there are random missions you can do ad infinitum, there is only a handfull of story missions, and they arent even different from the generated ones. Aside from that, the game is archaic in its presentation, ui etc. and while I dont mind the grafic, the art direction isnt that good either. Last but not least, the game constantly annoys you with dumb pop ups that want to explain the game or even that you should buy the other titles in the series.

Some of the problems of the first game still exist but are being worked on and will be fixed soon. Aside from that AoF2 is a more well rounded game for several reasons. Firstly, you have choices at various points that break up the pure linearity of the first game and this makes the player feel more active in the story. I was a little disappointed to see that the nice background artwork from the first game was replaced by digitised images but this really doesn't detract from the game in any way other than some minor aesthetics. I assume this is purely down to production cost and time constraints. Units are more balanced and interesting and the two new campaigns offer both very different story and subtle but important changes to gameplay. As before the game is fun to play and certainly nothing has been lost that would be sorely missed. Overall the improvements don't make a radically different game but they add up enough to have changed my review from a thumbs down to a thumbs up. Once again this does not mean The Undead King isn't worth the time of the right person - just that in my opinion this is the better of the two games and I, therefore, recommend it to anyone who likes turn based strategy. *edit* recent updates have improved the game further.
AGE OF FEAR 2: THE CHAOS LORD GOLD, a highly detailed totally polished like fine furniture work of delicious delectable tabletop gaming. Controls are fluid and intuitive as i explore the vast game world map from a top down view where i interact with merchants, encounter land battles with dastardly villainous foes and in many cases nearby dangerous animal/monstrosities of nature such as giant scorpions, explore varied terrains such as swamps, dungeons, deserts, sewers etc. Ai is smart and devious doing things like attacking nearby giant scorpions with their archers where suddenly i will find my party of nine attacked from behind by what was once a docile group of scorpions now enraged attacking everything is sight. Plenty of weapons, magic spells and potions are at ones disposal to deal with such dangerous situations. Graphics are great capturing a rich tabletop feel similar to Steve Jackson's CAR WARS tabletop game in detail and art style. Music is honey dripping game healing goodness oozing soothing audio massages to the senses making for the perfect evening game after a stressful day. Dialogue and voice acting is a hoot pouring boiling pots of laughter triggering humor on the player with many a b-movie level remark. Reminds me of the grim over the top dialogue of the Warhammer 40,000 universe in many of their games but in a comedic direction which is just enough to not feel overdone and keep things fun. When visiting merchants on the huge map you can hire new units, buy weapons and armor along with potions as well as have crafting done. You can also level up your party/change them to another combat type for those individual units who have gathered up enough experience. AGE OF FEAR 2: THE CHAOS LORD GOLD, Buy it! Play it! bathe in the soothing waters of relaxing rpg greatness flowing with danger and unparalleled fun!
Age of Fear 2: The Chaos Lord GOLD is a turn-based strategy game that bears some resemblance to games like Gloomhaven but without the card mechanics. At first glance, the game can feel a bit overwhelming due to the sheer amount of text it throws at you for explanations. If you're not particularly fond of reading, this could be a tough barrier to overcome. One of the first things that stood out to me was the game's lackluster graphics. It looks like something drawn in Microsoft Paint, and the visual style leaves much to be desired. Unfortunately, the poor presentation doesn’t end there. The voice acting is downright terrible, which only worsens the overall experience. The story isn't particularly engaging either, so don't expect a compelling narrative to draw you in. However, when it comes to the gameplay, Age of Fear 2 does shine. The turn-based combat is surprisingly solid and strategic, though it takes quite a bit of time and effort to get the hang of everything. The steep learning curve might be off-putting for players who are looking for a more straightforward experience. In the end, Age of Fear 2 is an okay game, but it’s not one I would go out of my way to recommend. While the gameplay has some redeeming qualities, the overall package is let down by poor graphics, bad voice acting, and a story that fails to impress. For die-hard fans of turn-based strategy, there might be something to enjoy here, but for everyone else, it's probably best to look elsewhere.
Muito bom! Fui atraído pela súcubo live action do trailer. Mas ele é voltado pra estratégia de turno com temática medieval. Vale a conferida! 😉
Game is still supported and updated today. Retains traces of original wargame inspired design with disposable units, though the series now takes more after RPGs with more freedom and richer mechanics. That makes it easier to build veterans so use highest difficulty and avoid most random battles if you want a challenge. Succubus campaign suffers more from early writing and because of the dull demon-themed voice direction you would never know that the voice actor is actually pretty good. If you can get past that or just came for the gameplay both campaigns are entertaining and fast paced. Also has modding guide and full board editor with limited scripting that allows you to do everything the campaigns do. New skills or battle mechanics can't be made except with summons but making new units and maps is easy.
